Korea Vlog Clips & Seoul Meetup Info!
4:03 AM
Hey lovelies! I just wanted to post a quick update to let you guys know that I am going to hold a Seoul, South Korea meetup for anyone who wants to come and meet me in person. This will actually be my first meetup ever (because I'm rather shy, but I think it will be a lot of fun!) so I'm super excited! If you are Korean and don't have good English speaking skills, don't worry because I understand Korean. :)
Friday, 5/17/13 at 2 PM
Lets meet at the red & white sculpture in front of Seoul City Hall
Take the subway to the City Hall stop (lines 1 or 2) exit 5
Here's a Seoul subway map for reference. Take the royal blue or green lines. ^_~
I'm looking forward to meeting you on Friday! ^_^

Wow! Thank you for having this kind of event in Korea! 17th is the best because it's holiday! Can I come and just say hello to you?
ReplyDeleteYou have been a lot of places already in Seoul. I recommend Ewha Womans Univ.(이대) area and 북촌 한옥마을(Bukchon Han-ok village) which my foreign friends liked! :)
Yes of course! Please come. I don't have anything special planned other than just meeting everyone casually, so I'd love to meet you. ^_^
DeleteCan't wait til you come to australia!

Which exit should we use to get to the red sculpture?
ReplyDeleteTake the City Hall subway exit. The red sculpture is on the far right of the City Hall building if you are facing City Hall. :)

Hi Jen and readers, I'm traveling to Seoul next week. I was thinking about wearing mainly capris with a strappy sandal (straps cover toes well). Would this be unacceptable? Do I need to wear socks (that would look kind of silly)? I read that I should be wearing socks, especially when entering some of the sites. What kind of footwear do you recommend for the late spring weather? Thanks so much! P.S. Thanks for your videos Jen! I love them! You are personal and professional all at the same time.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly! Seoul is a very fashionable city but if you want to be comfortable, skinny jeans or leggings and Nikes (with short socks) are pretty common for walking around. You will also just as commonly see girls in full-on nice dresses with pantyhose and high heels, even while sightseeing though! If you are an obvious foreigner, you probably don't need to worry too much about fashion choices. Just wear what you normally wear. :)
DeleteHi Jen, thank you for your reply. It's very thoughtful of you to respond despite being on vacation. Enjoy the rest of your time!
DeleteOmg! This is so sad... I am arriving in Seoul the 20th from the states... I'm a huge fan/follower of your blog and it would have been a dream come true if I could meet you at the meetup :((( Hope you enjoy your stay in korea :)
ReplyDeletethat are crazy subway lines! there is nothing like this in my city!

Jen,i have to go Seoul Jazz Festival that day :(
ReplyDeletei really love to see you, but i can't make it.
Too sad, can you make it one more time the other day?
I wish I could go to the Jazz Festival too! I scheduled the date and made the video announcement before I knew some of my friends would be performing there. :(
DeleteI'll see how my schedule goes if I can maybe do a smaller meetup on a later date.
Hi Jen! I'm going to Korea on May 28th for a week and then to the Philippines for another week! It's a bummer I wont make it to your meet-up date. Anyways, I was wondering what plane did you fly in? I'm flying with Korean Airlines, are they pretty safe? this is my very first time traveling out of the country and I'm very nervous. Please give me some advices and tips on how to make it to a 13 hour long flight! I would very much appreciate it. thanks! I know some people on here said they are visiting as well, what plane are you guys going to be flying in with? And what are some of you guys' tips to make it to a very long flight? I'll be by myself traveling too :/
ReplyDeleteI traveled with Asiana this trip, but I've been on Korean Airlines before and they are both really nice. I highly recommend bringing a book or magazine to read as well as headphones to listen to music. Long flights usually have tons of movies to watch so you shouldn't be terribly bored! I watched Life of Pi, The Hobbit, Brave, and the first half of Wreck It Ralph on my way to Korea. :)
DeleteOh, and one good tip is to use the small pillow they give you behind your lower back or under your thighs to alleviate some sore-butt you may encounter from a long flight. Haha!
Agreed. Definitely nice to use that pillow for the lumbar area.
DeleteToo bad I'm not in Korea because I would totally come to the meetup.
ReplyDeleteHi Jen !
ReplyDeleteI wish I was in Korean. Unfortunately I'm going to Korea on June . Well It would be my first time in Korea / So excited / . I heard that in Korea summer would be Hot /terribly HOT >o< /. I would be there during my summer vocation / whole 3 months/. And I don't know what to pack ./ well about everything/ Please give me a tip ^_^ .
I definitely recommend bringing a hat & sunscreen! You can buy a lot of clothes here so don't bring TOO much and leave room in your suitcase for purchases to take back home. ;)
DeleteThanks ,
DeleteHave a great days in Korea! ^_^
Jen! I will see you there!!!!
ReplyDeleteI went to Seoul earlier this year and absolutely loved the city!! Really want to go again! Sadly I won't be there to see you

Oh my gosh. I am Korean and currently a boarding student in the United States. I wish I was in Korea right now so I can meet you! I am a huge fan :) Unfortunately I am graduating my American high school on next Sunday and going back to Korea on June 4th. I am going back to Korea for good because I am planning to attend a Korean college. I hope you have a lot of fun in Korea! South Korea is such a wonderful country.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh--I wish I could meet you as well, but I'm not in Seoul. Hope you all have a great time.

ReplyDeleteHello Jen! It was nice meeting you today! You might not remember me because there were a lot of beautiful girls there, but once again, I am Blia Yang. I hope you like the studded earrings that I gave you.. sorry, it was a last minute thing so it wasn't all nice. It was picked in a hurry, but with a good heart. hehe.
ReplyDeleteand wow! I now just read that it was your first meet up ever; that explains the awkwardness.. hehe. But, I am glad that I got to be a part of your first meet up! :)

Nice. I saw your pics of Seoul on your Instagram but only just now saw info for the meetup. Hope it was fun. I'm currently teaching English in a school in Seoul...wondered what I would have done if I had randomly seen you about the city. Ha. Have a safe trip back home.
ReplyDeletehi jen! wish i could go to korea..:D i would just like to ask what no-smudge long lasting lipstick would you recommend? been using the max factor lipfinity and the revlon ones..and they're making my lips dry and flaky...:/
ReplyDeletewish you can give a recommendation..thank you and enjoy Korea! :D
Jen!
ReplyDeleteThe meetup was so fun!!! Thank you so much :)
Anyway you asked us to recommend any makeup products...
Not sure if Art Deco Cosmetics is widely available in the states but they're pretty much in every OliveYoung drugstores in korea!
Their eyeliner is seriously SO amazing! Not even exaggerating!
I switched from Urban Decay 24-7 liquid liner lover to Art Deco Liquid liner lover!
Please try it out if you go to Olive Young sometime before you head back to the states! :)

Wish I could've seen this before I left! Darn! I'll have to remember for next time~!
DeleteI wish I was there to meet you, sadly I'm a fan over in London so I wouldn't able to anyway without flying over! Love and hugs from the UK, thank you for inspiring me. x
ReplyDeletehi jen! enjoy korea! :D can you recommend a great no smudge and long lasting lipstick?? max factor and revlon ones doesn't do good for me..they make my lips dry and flake..please help? :D thanks..:DDD
ReplyDeleteMy current favorite is Too Faced La Creme lipstick. It lasts about 4 hours before you need to reapply and it feels moisturizing at the same time.
DeleteHi Jen, i see you are still in your vacation. when will you back?
ReplyDeleteJen, i want to ask some tutorials from you,can i have your email?
i was going to ask how do i do my make up for a beginner and i have a deep double eye lid, so whenever i use eye liner, it always gave a print on the upper lid, i dont know how to explain rightly. so my eye lid is simply too deep, so if you use thin eye liner, it wont show any and give some print on the upper one.
i hope you could help me. i was going to start my make up and i only have some basics make up, i really want to ask you how do i do my make up with those basics..
Looks like you are so famous and might not consider but i really like your style and really want to get some tips from you. ^^
have a great trip, Jen! ^^
i will just drop my email here,
gicaelka@gmail.com

Gisela ^^

ReplyDeletehope u have an awesome trip ♥♥
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI am currently reading a book called "Escape from North Korea: the Untold story of Asia's underground railroad" by Melanie Kirkpatrick. It is opening my eyes to the plight of the North Korea people. Of course, I am unaware of your views on this issue, but please continue to read if you are also wanting change for the better.
Although I do realize that your blog is about makeup and such things, it would be pretty amazing if this blog could be an avenue to inform your many many readers about the atrocities currently happening in North Korea. Perhaps some positive change can come about through this.
Here are some links on how to help:

Thanks for your ongoing posts about your trip in Korea. Have a great time.
A.
I am also very passionate about the situation in North Korea, so thank you for sharing your links! It's so important to be aware of what's going on around the world, especially when it hits so close to home. Although my blog is indeed about makeup, I do like to share links about North Korea and other topics on places like Twitter @frmheadtotoe and my Facebook page facebook.com/frmheadtotoe so I'll definitely be doing some more research from the links you posted. :)
DeleteJen, I wanted to make a suggestion regarding your blog. I think you should update your blog more often. Other bloggers like Michelle Phan and Wendy Nguyen updates their blogs 2-3 times a week. It really does increase the volumn of traffic and encourages people to visit your blog more often.
ReplyDeleteSince I am back in the US, I will be back to updating regularly. ^_^
DeleteHi Jen!
ReplyDeleteAww it would've been so nice meeting you!
Have you ever thought about arranging a meet up in the US?
And where did you get your chambray shirt from? I'm pretty petite, so it's always hard trying to find a great fit..
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed your trip! :)
I'm going to do my first meetup in the US at the Mall of America in a couple weeks! ^_^
DeleteMy shirt was from Target a couple years ago. They carry XS pretty often, you just have to search sometimes, haha!
Hehehe you are just too cute, Jen! I live in the LA area so I think you should definitely set one up here too, as I'm sure there are TONS of people who would love that :D
ReplyDeleteHi Jen,
ReplyDeleteI have been following your videos for months now, and I really like your tutorials! They are really detailed and well explained, however, my lack of skills makes it hard to mimic. I was wondering if you could recommend any private make up class in NYC? I am really interested in the korean style makeup. Many thanks!
Unfortunately I've only been to NYC once so I don't know of any recommendations, but the best advice I can give is to practice at night at the end of the day! There's no pressure to get it perfect since you will wash it off right away, and practicing will help you get better and know your own face better too. :)
DeleteHow lovely! I enjoyed watching, what camera did you use by the way?
ReplyDeleteAlso I hope you will check out and comment on my vlog/travel journal that I have started recently upon my travels to Korea last September: http://www.nynyonline.co.uk/going-to-seoul-9%EC%9B%944%EC%9D%BC5%EC%9D%BC-arriving-and-exploring/
