Hey guys! I obviously haven't gotten over the need for sparkle after the holidays because today I wanted to share another blast of sparkly happiness. This was a color in my sister's recent OPI stash which was from their holiday collection. All Sparkly And Gold is a lovely glitter to wear even after the holidays. Let's take a closer look!
Hey everyone! Today I wanted to share a cute, everyday hair tutorial with you that is a twist on your typical sock bun. This look incorporates a french braid into both the back of the head and the bun itself which gives it a more elevated look. The front is twisted into a retro-style fringe which brings the casual look together. Check out the look below!
Hey guys! So it's been a dream of mine, literally for years, to develop a platform for a really positive beauty community where we could share makeup looks, reviews, and experiences. For me, makeup has always been so much more than just about making yourself pretty. Pretty changes. Cosmetic trends come and go, and physical beauty doesn't last as well. What does last is how you feel about yourself on the inside and as crazy as it is, how you express yourself on the outside does mirror that too.
One of the reasons I started blogging nearly 6 years ago is that I felt like I was alone in my journey of discovering how to apply makeup to my monolid, Asian eyes while growing up in Midwest America surrounded by very little diversity.
Hey everyone! As I was deciding what polish to wear for Mani Monday this week, I remembered this pearlescent Zoya polish, Gaia, that I've owned for years. It seemed like a nice color to refresh my nails with since I really enjoyed last week's sparkling nude-pink. Guess I'm just on an effervescent nail kick!
Hey everyone! Today I wanted to share a brand new product with you from Urban Decay. For part of their Spring launches, they have just released 9 lipglosses which are beautifully packaged and suited for all ranges of the "naked" everyday lip. Um, hello, everyday glosses? Count me in please!
Let's check out the full range below!
Hey guys! Today I wanted to share a highly requested un-makeup tutorial. I'm talking about makeup removal.
When we first adventured into the world of makeup, many of us got stuck knee-deep with this daunting task with nobody explaining how the heck to get it off again! Waterproof makeup is, in fact, waterproof thus causing fits of eye-rubbing and exasperated sighs as tan foundation decides to lovingly transfer to your favorite white towel. Eyes became sullen, not just from the sadness of it all but also because that eyeliner decided to migrate from your lash line to your eye bags regardless of how much face wash you used.
Worry not, dear readers! I have a fail-proof makeup removal routine that will literally get your face squeaky clean that works on everything from everyday makeup to the heaviest of stage and costume makeup (aka club night).
Hey everyone! After last week's dark, vampy color I wanted to switch things up a bit and go with a shade that was much lighter and more neutral. This was my first time trying A'Pieu Glow Nail Touch which is a Korean brand that I was gifted by a reader at my Seoul meet-up this summer. You guys know how much I adore holographic polishes so I was really excited to try this subtle one!
Hey everyone! For January I wanted to kick off the new year with a few basic-type posts to answer frequently asked beauty questions. I have a range of readers from the makeup newbie to the connoisseur, but one thing I've learned over the years is to never assume everyone knows every trick for the basics. I'm learning new things constantly too so I don't want to forget covering something just because it's simple.
Good thing is, this nail trick is super simple no matter how aggravating or thick your glitter polish is!
Over the course of Manicure Monday history (click above to see the blog post) you've seen me wear a ton of glitter polishes, right? And that means hours of annoying time sucked away dedicated to ripping and scrubbing glitter particles off your fingers, getting it everywhere including on Husband whom we all know secretly appreciates looking like a pixie-dust fairy whenever he leaves the house.
Pixify your husband no more with the ever-so-dependable foil-wrapping method! ;)
Hey everyone! Today's Mani Monday is a new OPI polish that I borrowed from my sister. I was drawn to Visions of Love because it seemed like a really classic black-cherry color that I'm always drawn to during winter, giving a very clean, elegant look. Let's check it out below!
Happy New Year everyone!
Facing the fresh start of 2014, I am feeling immensely blessed at the amazing things that have happened this year. 2013 wasn't so much about the tangible things that I had, but more so reminders of not taking for granted the things that I've always had: my family. From my sister battling and overcoming cancer to welcoming our puppy Oreo (his instagram) into our lives, I feel like I can't reflect on the past year without a great depth of appreciation for the love around me, especially when it was least expected.
I wanted to write this first before getting into my favorites because I know it seems like each month a lot of the talk goes into consumable products and tips for surface-level beauty but ultimately this blog, my videos, and everything else I talk about means so much more to me than just things. You guys give me passion. It's about how we touch each others' lives and bring each other confidence, hope, and positivity in a world where there is far too little of it and far too much judgement and cruelty.
For this next year, it's my resolution to (of course) continue bringing you my thoughts on my favorite products, but more than that, to bring you the ability to be more yourself by loving yourself at every stage of your face and body. Hopefully recommending a few good things will give you more time to spend doing you. Let's all be more comfortable in our own skin in 2014!
With that, lets get on with this month's favs!
