Hello, hello! Today's post and video are going to be a little bit different than usual. It's fashion-related but it isn't about what's the best fashion for the season or what colors look best on different skintones. Nope, today we are gettin' naked for real. FOR REAL. I am talking about boobies!!!
Ladies, finding the right bra is so incredibly important. I had always heard this and blown people off because I always just assumed that I would never find the right size bra since I am so petite but I was very abruptly re-informed when I received some bras from The Little Bra Company to see if I would review them. Because of my epiphany from this life-changing experience, I wanted to do bra-fitting justice in this silly and informative video.
Now, I know a lot of my blog readers don't watch all of my videos but I highly recommend all women to watch this one. I mean, I am wearing a freaking bra over my clothes. Doesn't the bravery of that at least deserve a watch? ;)
Products mentioned in this video:
Victoria's Secret Biofit Bra - 32A
The Little Bra Company Sascha Bra - (various sizes)
The Little Bra Company Lucia Bra
Victoria's Secret PINK Push-up Bra - 30A
I've also seen 30-band bras in various cup sizes at Nordstrom here and here, at Dillards here, and figleaves.com here, here, and even a 28 band here!
I'm not gonna lie, I was fairly terrified to post this since I know I'm going to get comments about being flat-chested, young, or that I need to eat a sandwich or something but things as important as wearing a properly fitting bra deserve a really good entry. So far, what I've noticed from the youtube comments is that people were surprised at how silly I am! I'm happy to say that my regular blog readers will not find my antics in this video shocking in the slightest. ^.~
Anyway, as I said in the video, it's so important to find the right fitting bra size because of all of the consequences that a badly fitting bra can produce. Let me list a few of the pros and cons out for you.
Problems from an ill-fitting bra:
- permanent accumulation of back fat
- permanent ditches in the shoulders from straps
- not enough support, causing saggy boobs
- dividing breast tissue fat (causing back fat/smaller boobs)
- less cleavage
- back problems because of uneven weight distribution
Pros of a properly fitting bra:
- perkier breasts
- more cleavage (even for petite-breasted ladies!)
- bigger breasts from proper boob-scooping
- looking more fit/skinnier
- no back fat or shoulder ditches
- appearance of better posture
- clothes look much nicer
Here are my TLBC Sascha bras in size A all lined up. I wanted to show you how different the same cup size can be for different bras. As you can see here, not only is the actual band bigger, but each cup is a whole cup-size different. The 32A cup would be like a 28C cup, or for a reverse example a 34B cup would be like a 38AA cup.
Here you can see the difference between the 32A and 28A more clearly. 2 cup-sizes different although both A cups!
Here also I wanted to show the difference in cup width proportion. Proper cup width can actually make your boobs look bigger because it pulls them in front of your torso where they should be. This 32A has a much wider cup width than this 30A and as I showed in the video, doesn't give me much cleavage. I actually ended up buying the Lucia in 28B which fits me much better than this 30A did.
Now I want to go into more detail into the actual bras that I received. The Little Bra Company didn't in any way pay me and were only expecting a bra review. (Therefore, this video should be a bit of a surprise. lol.) I didn't mention this in the video but I am in love with my new TLBC bras. I've never had the kind of fit from any bra in my life as I have had from their bras and am very impressed and satisfied with the quality. I'm happy with the shape of the bras themselves because they look great under clothes and, of course, alone as well. They have the perfect amount of push-up that I am comfortable with and they are comfortable to wear too. Did I mention they give me cleavage? XD
I do want to mention for those of you who are considering purchasing a TLBC bra, the Lucia band runs much looser than the Sascha so you may want to purchase your traditional size rather than their recommended 1 band size up. I wear my Lucia on the tightest hook while I wear my Sascha on the loosest, but both in a 28B. I'd probably fit the Lucia in a 26 band better if they made it. Also for reference, my over-bust measurement is 28 inches and my under-bust is 24 inches. My actual bust measurement is 28 inches while wearing the Sascha (aka not a ton of push-up) so I'm quite petite!
Note that the traditional bra sizing method is:
5 + underbust = band size
(bust measurment) - (5+underbust) = cup size 1 (1=A, 2=B, 3=C, etc)
According to this, I am a 29AAA. Sad, incorrect panda! Therefore, I've inferred that it is simply not applicable to those who are more petite than traditional bra sizes. Epiphany!
I don't really want to get into the whole media ideal of large breasts but I will say this: It took me a long time to be totally happy and proud of my breasts and my body as a whole. I'm sure nearly all of you can relate to this. It was incredibly frustrating to feel like I am somehow less of a woman because I had A-cups or didn't fill out even some of the 32A's that I would try on. It's really quite demoralizing and embarrassing. What do you tell the Victoria's Secret associate when they measure you as a 28AA (which they will never, ever, ever carry) and you know they are wrong and all they can do is shake their heads in pity? For me the only answer was, as for many things in my life, to kick myself in the butt, hold my head up high and say, "I AM a woman and I deserve to feel confident, sexy, and every bit of an intelligent and beautiful being as God created me to be."
I'm sure finding the perfect bra won't be as life-changing for everyone as it was for me but I hope that my slice of insight will at least help some of you to have the bravery to be fitted for the correct bra as well, so that you can face the world with some powerful under-armor, not just for your clothes but for your mind and heart too. We can be proud of our boobies at any size! ROAR! ^o^
Anyway, today I am wearing the grey leopard VS bra that I showed at the end of the video and seeing myself in it, I think my "girlfriends" actually have gotten larger since I've been wearing my new 28B's and 30A's that really do fit. I'm not kidding you, I cannot even put on my old 32A's anymore. Would it be totally weird if I had a bra blogsale? Some of my "old" bras are basically brand new and are really pretty. Maybe some of you ladies, after getting bra fitted, can come back here and buy some very nice bras that don't have a good home anymore! Let me know if you'd be interested. ;)
Petite ladies, stay tuned for a bra giveaway from The Little Bra company very soon! I'd be thrilled to pass on the positive experience I've had with the proper bras to someone else. Hope you can all be a little "perkier" and "uplifed" from here on out! LOL.
Disclaimer: The TLBC Sascha Bras were provided by The Little Bra Company for fit and they gifted me the correctly fitting one, as well as the matching bottoms. All other bras mentioned (including the TLBC Lucia) were purchased by myself. This post contains some affiliate links.
