January 2014 Beauty Favorites!

9:00 AM

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to share with you my January Favorites. To kick of the year I fell in love with a few new "basics" like foundations and a brush I rediscovered. My routine has been pretty simple lately so it's good to have nice products to rely on when you don't have time to think too hard about what to grab in the morning. Let's check it out below!

PRODUCTS MENTIONED:

Sigma Sigmax F82 Round Top Kabuki
Koh Gen Do Maifashni Aqua Foundation in 123
Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water Wipes
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness
Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara
A'Pieu Nature Flower Lipstick in RD01

ON ME:

foundation - Koh Gen Do Maifashni Aqua Foundation in 123
eyeshadow - Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette
hat - Oversized Knit Beanie
sweater - Oversized Dolman Sleeve Sweater

So one of my favorite products this month that I haven't mentioned before is the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara. I'd heard people talking about it several times before but was hesitant after trying out a not-so-stellar Maybelline lower lash mascara years ago. It's ironic because I actually already tend to use a different mascara for top and bottom lashes considering how anti-curl my top ones are but I'm so glad I ended up getting this one in a goodie bag recently.

   VS.

I'm quite happy to report that Clinique's version blows Maybelline Lash Discovery out of the water! It's superior not only with the smaller, tapered brush but also in the formula itself. What I personally look for in mascaras for my sparser bottom lashes is something that will lengthen with clean volume without clumping or smudging throughout the day. Basically, I like the fanned-out look which is quite eye-brightening when done the right way.

The tube I got was in the shade black/brown which obviously wouldn't be my first choice but still gives a nice fluttery look to my lashes. I highly recommend trying this especially for ladies who have teeny tiny lower lashes or have a tendency of smudging mascara onto skin when applying.

Readers, do you have a favorite mascara for your upper and lower lashes? Have you tried a specifically lower lash mascara before? Let me know in the comments!

  5. we share two favorites this month! i have the cleansing spa water in the bottle instead of cloth form. i wanted to go the economical instead of convenience route. it does a better job of taking of waterproof mascara if you hold it against your lashes for about 15secs so that the water can soak into the mascara. i love the bye bye redness. on rush days i use it as under eye concealer, slap on some eyeliner and mascara and go! how are you using it for a sheer no makeup look? do you use the mini flat top it came with or one of your other brushes?

would you consider doing a post for us comparing your different foundation brushes? is just a matter of shape preference or do they offer different finishes or need different techniques? thanks!

  8. Hi Jen!
love your video like always and always.

this is gonna be a common question, but if i may know, how did you record every your video (especially when you were touring to korea) with so clear voice? do you record your voice and video seperately then dubbed them? i am going to make my trip a video but i know if i only record them only through SLR camera, you wont get any clear and high volume of voice.so i would like to know how u record your every video.

thankyou very much and have a great week :)

  15. Hi Jen!

I love your videos! I watched your mineral makeup routine video and wondering if you can make an updated one, I haven't tried mineral foundation before and I am curious about how it works with concealer and how to pick up one that suits my oily acne-prone skin. Thanks!!
