Beauty and the Beast "Belle" Halloween Tutorial

5:51 PM

Hey everyone! I'm so excited to share with you my first Halloween tutorial for this year. After having such a fun time recreating Princess Jasmine's look last year, I decided to try out another one of my favorite Disney Princess: Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

I distinctly remember the first time I watched the opening scenes of this movie and being totally awestruck at the graphics and instantly fell in love with Belle's pure-hearted and book-loving character. I knew that's the kind of person I wanted to be someday. Maybe tutorial-recording day became that day. ;)

Products mentioned:
Makeup Up For Ever Mat Velvet + Foundation in 40
Graftobian Concealer Palette
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Urban Decay Naked Palette (Sin, Buck, and Virgin eyeshadows)
Eyeko Graffiti Eyeliner Pen in Black
NYX Eyelash Curler
Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Waterproof Mascara
Darkness VX lashes (similar here)
Urban Decay Urban Brow Pen in Brunette
NYX Eyebrow Shaper
Josie Maran bronzer in Beach #1
Wet & Wild Color Icon blush in Pearlescent Pink
NYX Lip Pencil in Natural
NYX Black Label Lipstick in Bling
IPKN It Gloss in Lilac

Here are some images of the gorgeous Belle which I used to base my look of of. As you can see, her look is elegant and natural with a focus on long, black lashes, sweet pink cheeks, and warm rosy lips.

And here is my take of the look. Neutral colors, but more put-together than your average "natural" look. Slightly more defined brows, soft cheeks, gentle highlighting, and layered lip products to last all Halloween night! :)

A close-up to show the soft, cut-crease eyelid shading. Juxtaposing a matte crease shade with a metallic lid color gives the eyes a glowing and dimensional appearance.

Here you can see the whole look pulled together. I flipping love this Leg Avenue golden dress! I always, always wanted Belle's dress and this cute Halloween version makes me feel more princessy for sure. ^__^

And of course, my beloved Beast. Can't you tell we are in love? I looked past his snaggle tooth because come on, anyone who has an appreciation for roses and fine, bright blue-with-gold-trim suiting is a catch in my book.

Full-length images of the full outfit, hair, makeup, and heels. If you are interested in my actual "Storybook Beauty" costume, I am wearing size XS which is slightly too long in the torso on me but would be perfect for someone 5' or taller. Leg Avenue costumes are sold nearly everywhere though, so it shouldn't be too hard to find especially online. :)

Costume: Leg Avenue size XS
Hair: Mom's vintage necklace (similar here)
Earrings: Pearl studs (similar here / here)

A huge thanks to Daniel and the Leg Avenue team for sending me off with some fab costumes during my visit to the main office this past summer! You guys are SO creative and make me love dressing up for Halloween each year. <3

Also, my heels are from jgshoe.com which is a new petite shoe website which I am super excited to share with you since they carry heels that fit my petite feet. I actually stumbled upon them while browsing around so I'm looking forward to telling you more about them in the future. ;)

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and as always, I hope that this look will come in handy for the holidays or whenever you want to look a bit more polished!

  1. You look beautiful! Thanks for this tutorial, I was thinking about being Belle for Halloween. A suggestion, check out Goodwill and thrift stores for costumes or clothes that can be adapted into costumes. I found a Belle-esque ballgown (seriously - a ball gown!) with gold embroidery and off-the-shoulder detailing at Goodwill for $25.

Just a request, would there be anyway you can do a tutorial for Pocahontas? Or make some suggestions as to what we can do for her makeup? I know you're a busy gal!

    Thanks a million! <3

  27. i also grew up wanting to be belle for halloween! you know my favorite thing about belle's dress is the girdle and lining of the bottom. your costume is super cute but i think could be so much cuter if the dress reached the floor and was actually constructed out of fabric with body.

also, can you do a halloween inspired tutorial with featherlashes for people who want to be pocahontas/a bird/a skunk/or whatever their artsy heart desires?

i always love your makeup suggestions.
    much love

  29. I have read the comments you've received on youtube and I don't understand why some people always have o comment on how SKINNY you are. WHY does it bother them so much? Does it hurt them in any way? Did you create yourself by any chance???
I'm pretty short myself but not petite. I am 5'3" and wear size 26 in jeans but I still don't think there is anything wrong with your body being naturaly skinny, as long as you eat well. There is alot of misery in this world, and these idiots keep nagging about how skinny you are. I don't get it.

  30. Hi Jen! Beautiful tutorial and the makeup especially is so adorable. I have a similar eye shape and find it so hard to use eye shadow properly due to being monolid but you do it perfectly! In the future do you have time to do some tutorials on make up looks without false lashes because i'm so lazy with them! Thanks so much! And also, please please please do your Louis Vuitton reveal post some time!

But the way you do your tutorial is very very clear, and I will totally watch and learn. I'm following your blog and subcribed to your channel just now!
Thanks for the tutorial. It's a wonder what makeup can do!
