Manicure Monday: Chanel 543 Frisson

9:00 AM

You know what I love about nail polish? It's an excuse to look at your favorite colors allllll the time. I'm the type of person who--given the choice--would color coordinate her entire life in every way possible, so if there's a color that makes me particularly happy, nail polish is my joyful reason to stare at it more often. Chanel Frisson happens to be one of those colors. It's happiness in a bottle!

I don't know why I've been so blessed but this is the second week in a row that I was gifted an amazing polish from my dear loved ones. This particular bottle is from my friend Rae of The Raeviewer who happens to be an expert on luxury beauty brands. She's my go-to for dipping my toes into the high-end cosmetic market, so you guys should definitely check out her wonderful reviews!

Frisson is a sheer peachy pink with glass-flecked shimmers that reflect gold, green, and red. (If that last sentence doesn't make you drool, it should!) I'm not usually a fan of sheers but the formula on this polish is so easy to work with and the final effect doesn't look unfinished at all. The warm undertones of this polish are also really flattering on my skintone and create an almost "mannequinn hands" effect, but better because let's be honest, pink is so much better than beigey-tan nails, amirite? I used CND Stickey Base with 3 coats of Chanel Frisson and Seche Vite top coat.

This may sound crazy but this is actually my very first Chanel cosmetic item ever! Forgive me if I gush a little over the pretty packaging but aren't the little double-CC stamps darling? The outer cap's stamp is engraved while the stamp on the inner cap is printed. It's a nice touch over other polishes with removable outer caps where the inner cap tends to look cheap and neglected in the design process.

Obviously at $27, Chanel Le Vernis won't be an everyday purchase for me but darned if I'm not in love with my first one. ;)

Readers, have you tried Chanel polish before? What are your thoughts on designer nail colors? Let me know in the comments!

  16. Im having the exact same colour on my nails this week! 3 coats topped with Seche Vite! When I wear this colour it makes me feel princessy and I look like I have dainty fingers haha.

If you love this, you should def try out the other colours from CHANEL; they are truly one of a kind (:

  17. Such a lovely, pretty and girlie colour! I like the sheerness and slight shimmer too, it's a little bit different, but quite subtle.

And the packaging is gorgeous - I don't have any Chanel items, but one day I will <3

  18. On you nails this is like Nars Orgasm in a bottle! So pretty! Do you have OPI Kim-pletely in Love? It's a beautiful pink with purple/blue shimmers. Also very pretty (but it does take a few coats to become opaque). Keep up the good work Jen :)

  21. I love Chanel polishes! This one is very princess-y indeed! I am wearing Chanel's Emprise right now (LE spring 2013). Very cute, very warm peach which compliments yellow skin-types as well. I highly recommend it :) I think Rae reviewed it as well. I also like Dior's Safari Beige for yellow toned skin. It's my go to professional, every day nail color. I have backups!

  24. Hi Jen,

Do you have a go-to soft pink colour?
I'm looking for a polish to wear to a summer wedding.
Even when my skin is tan there is still a yellow undertone present and while I love the look of creamy pink polishes in the bottle, they never end up looking pretty - especially on my toes. The polish always ends up looking white-ish.

    Thanks,
    Elaine

  25. Hey Jen, I have realized that you wait for each thin coat of nail polish to dry before applying the Seche vite. But as far as I know, you have to apply it while the polish is still wet. So I apply one thick layer and then my Seche vite and it lasts for around 5 days. But if I do it in thin layers then apply Seche vite, my nail polish peels like crazy the next day! I was wondering if that happens to you too because I would really like to do crazy nails like your purple gradient tutorial I've been meaning to try but I just cannot bear for my nails to peel the next day if i add the Seche vite to thin coats of polish! Do you have any tips and tricks to share? Thank you so much in advance!

  28. I've only tried one Chanel nail polish also gifted by my friend. It's the Peridoxal, a purple shade that I love and I recommend it too. For me, Chanel polishes are as good as its price suggests. The first layer may seem just like any other polishes but I would describe the 2nd layer as Magic done as it perfects my nail and gives it a wonderful finish. I'm looking for the next shade from Chanel I want to invest in^_^

  30. I am hopelessly obsessed with Chanel Vernis. I got Frisson for a wedding last summer. I usually go for darker colors, but this was so pretty in the bottle! Anyway, I ended up getting compliments from complete strangers with this polish, female and male!
