7 Years of Blogging!

Hey guys! After a bit of a blogging hiatus I wanted to tip-toe my way back into the blogging world and share a couple of incredible milestones I recently reached.
First of all, today officially marks my 7 year anniversary of when I wrote my first blog entry here at From Head To Toe. This was back before there were a plethora of beauty and fashion blogs glittering up the internet, and I took the humble request of girl on a forum I posted makeup tips on to create my own space for sharing tutorials and reviews and I thought, "why not!"
Is it too late to say 'thank you' to that girl? You basically changed my entire life.
Since then I have gotten married, worked as a designer in 3 large companies, took a huge leap of faith and left my career for blogging and youtubing, starred in a webseries, moved to Los Angeles, got a puppy-child Oreo, and bought a house for the first time in my life. Holy frickin' moley would my life be different if I had just decided not to explore my new hobby of beauty after graduating university. I mean, I didn't even wear makeup until I was 21! I was too concerned with being hurt by my acne struggles and defiantly not wanting to be judged on looks alone. God works in mysterious ways and for me, that is opening my heart and mind to the incredible, beautiful, insecure, stereotyped, accepting, rejecting, exciting, insane, and enchanting world of beauty.
7 years later and I still get jazzed about a new lipstick. Seriously.
Second big milestone is that I hit 1 million subscribers on youtube. Again..... what? What? What? Is that even a real number? I am still in complete shock and disbelief to the point where it still hasn't really hit me yet. I spent so much time trying to push it away and ignore it because what if everything were to fall apart and 1M never happens? When my parents called to congratulate me that morning I couldn't help but shed tears along with them because I truly felt like they were proud of me.
I'm not really used to the whole talking about my accomplishments thing so I wanted to wrap up this blog post in saying how astoundingly grateful I am for how you have been there for me, reading and watching, as God has made this path for me. I would not have the blessing of sharing what I love if it were not for strengths far outside of my own ability and control. How can I take any credit?
For my blog readers who have stuck by me, know that I have been working on a huge blog relaunch and redesign as well as incorporating some new elements into my posts that I am nervous and excited to share with you guys.
I'd love to know in the comments if there are any particular types of posts that you love the most and would like to see more of, and keep checking in because I will be back to my regular blogging schedule soon!

Congratulations Jen on your accomplishment! You deserve it and looking forward to many more in the future :) I remember watching your tutorial for the Taylor Swift Pin up look. I'm really excited to see the new layout for your blog relaunch - would really love to see more entries with fashion photoshoots and also more in depth entries with photos and explanations for video tutorials. That helps people who are learning how to apply make up more efficiently :)
ReplyDelete7 years! This is wonderful! Congratulations on your success! =)

Congratulations on reaching those milestones and Happy 7th Year Anniversary! I'm kind of a new follower, but I'd like to say that I'm grateful for your posts because of your creativity, inspiration, humbleness, kindness, and authenticity. The Heart 2 Heart segments of your posts are my favorite because they are raw, personable, and relate-able. I hope to see more Heart 2 Heart posts and those skincare reviews! Keep up the amazing work.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Jen! You deserve all of these accomplishments and more. I love reading your make up reviews/swatches posts. Can't wait to see your new blog :) littlevioletbeauty.blogspot.com

Congratulations! Wow, 7 years is a great achievement, especially considering how you have been able to grow your blog and YouTube channel.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 7 years! That's awesome :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Jen! I've said it before on the Twitter-verse, but all these achievements are so well deserved! If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have learned how to embrace my girly side. I was makeup averse for similar reasons as you... aaaaand I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get my eye makeup to look right. I stumbled upon one of your monolid tutorials and and it was revolutionary. Seriously. Thanks for being a good teacher. I've enjoyed keeping up with you over the years. Here's to many more to come! - sandrewbox
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, how fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI personally like your swatch posts, because we are very similar in skintone. If it looks good on you, I am practically ensured that it will look good on me too! :)
Congrats to one of the few originals out there! You continue to inspire me every day!
ReplyDeleteHappy blogiversary Jenn. Congratulations on all your success, I truly admire all that you do.

Congratulations on seven wonderful years of blogging. I love the blog and follow you on youtube. I love your product review posts. The swatches are really helpful. And I love the outfit videos. But now that you are a homeowner, I would love to see posts about home decorating, favorite products for around the house, and places you love to shop for house things. Congratulations again!
ReplyDeleteWords cannot explain what an inspiration you actually are to me. I have have always watched beauty videos on youtube but since I have been introduced to from head to toe my passion in make-up has finally returned to me. I now know I want to do it professionally and I am truly grateful for that!! thank you!!
ReplyDeleteMuch love Iona xx
Congratulations! What a wonderful milestone. I cry when my parents say they are proud of me and I'm 31. Haha.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see more petite fashion posts. That's how I stumbled upon your blog and that's how I continue to remember you. There just isn't enough fashion advice or stores for that matter for the petite women who aren't teenagers anymore.
Hahaha I don't think being any age will change being touched when my parents are proud of me. I'm guessing it will be the same with you!
DeleteThat's wonderful to know you like the petite fashion posts! I definitely want to integrate fashion more frequently and with that does inevitably come the struggles of being petite as always. One great thing is there is way more availability for petite fashion now than when I started blogging so that's been a huge blessing. Thank goodness for online shopping!
Congrats Jen! :) I would love to see you bring back Mani Mondays!
ReplyDeleteYou're back! I was worried when you didn't update for awhile that you were going to not blog anymore. The thought of that was very depressing as you were the first beauty blogger I have ever followed. That being said, Congratulations on such a huge achievement! Thank you for inspiring all of us and for taking risks. I know it hasn't been easy and hope that we, as a community, can also be supportive of you. I have really loved your eye makeup tutorials, hits and misses, and favorite products of the month; they're the highlights of my day <3
ReplyDeleteOh wow, the very first! What an honor! :)
DeleteSometimes I think everyone needs a short mind-break from certain aspects of work to renew their inspiration and I feel like that's what I've been going through. I've had a lot of life changes and just didn't feel like the blog was reflecting where I am now but I can feel my fingers itching to get back to blogging again. Thanks again for your support! :)
Congrats Jen! I'm so happy for you and you definitely deserve it. Thank you for the many inspirations from your tutorials to product reviews.

ReplyDeleteCongrats Jen! Truly happy for you! Thanks for being a blessing to all the people you've touched somehow, in different ways :)
ReplyDeleteQuestion unrelated to this post (sorry about that). I saw your video regarding your 2014 favorites. There, you mentioned bare minerals as you fave powder foundation. I wonder if you've tried Tarte's amazonian clay full coverage airbrush foundation with their airbuki brush? I read user reviews and a number actually switched from bare minerals to Tarte, even if they've used bare minerals for years. Since i havent tried any of the products, i'm torn on which to buy. I'm asian too so your comment/s would greatly be appreciated. :)
Thanks in advance :)
I've been meaning to try the Tarte for ages actually! I need to dig out out of my collection (I have it hidden away somewhere since the move) and try it out. Really anxious now! Thanks for the heads up!
DeleteExcited to read about your experience :) i also have similar problems, hyperpigmentation. Plus oiliness. Thanks for all the youtube videos and tips! Really super helpful! :)
DeleteHaha I still remember your early blog layout and videos a few years ago. You're still an inspiration to me to this date, and I'm super happy for what you have achieved so far.

Congrats, Jen! I started following you on Youtube after Away We Happened, but I'm glad you're returning to the blog ^^ I hope you continue doing Mani Mondays, because I am a nailpolish fiend.
ReplyDeleteI've followed you for a long time, but never posted before. I do love love love your blog and videos. You've always had such a positive attitude, and it's fun to see your posts. I have a blog (very much a hobby) and while it's a fun hobby to have, I've found that life can just get super busy. I moved, started a new job, had a baby, all in the last year and a half! Anyhow, I'm happy to see you back, and hope to see more posts from you!

Dear Jen, I stumble across your blog by accident a few years ago when I had just started to learn about make up. Ever since, I am stuck! :) Throughout the years, I pick up eye shadow, eye liner, mascara etc from you. Until today, I still played your video/tutorials step-by-step, pausing and playing while I applied mine. You are an inspiration to me and you always sent happy vibes through the videos. Virtual pat for the great work all these whiles and THANK YOU Jen, for making changes to my life too. :)

ReplyDeleteA quick question for you - how do you keep your eyes so wrinkle free ? I start to see fine lines right under my eyes since I was 22 (I'm 25 now). I've been using eye cream every night for the past 2 years but haven't seen any improvement. What is your eye skin care routine? Please share. Thanks!
well done Jen!
