Hey lovelies, I hope you guys are having an amazing June! One of my favorite things about June is that it's the anniversary month of my wedding, which reminded me that I wanted to create an updated Bridal Makeup Tutorial for you. Makeup is so important on your wedding day and every bride wants to look their best, so I compiled a complete tutorial with several tips & tricks to help your wedding makeup last and look flawless when you walk down the aisle!
Hi everyone! Today I finally have another makeup tutorial to share with you. As you know, I've been super busy these last few weeks working on Away We Happened. One of the most important aspects of filming so regularly has, of course, been the makeup and looking ideal for the cameras. Since it's my first time acting on film, there have been many things that I've learned from trial and error with my hair, skin, nails, fashion, and everything in between so I want to pass on what I've learned to you. I'll start with makeup and then deal with skincare at a later time (Just as a warning, my skin has been going INSANE since I came out to LA so I'll have a lot to talk about on that subject).
Many of you have been requesting the makeup look that I've worn for the series and I've also been meaning to do a tutorial for "photo day" makeup, so I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone.
Check out my tutorial below for tips on how to look perfect when the cameras are rolling!
Hey guys! As you may already know, I recently took a few youtube videos down from my channel youtube.com/frmheadtotoe to rework them. Just wanted to share the few that I have up again. Since all of my views and comments were lost, I would appreciate any comments and ratings you'd be willing to give.

Drumroll, please!
Asian Bridal Makeup Tutorial
Japanese Style Curls Hair Curling Tutorial
Hello Kitty Nail Art Tutorial
Mineral Makeup Basic Foundation Application Tutorial
I apologize for the less-than-HD quality of some of the older vids since they were taken with my ancient camera, but I hope that you can still find them helpful!
Also, thank you so much for your well-wishes. I have worked SO much overtime this week and I finally got to rest today. I literally stayed in bed until 3pm, drinking Boost, reading, and sleeping, which was lovely! The coughs are still there but seem to be less frequent than before. I'm hoping one more day with lots of naps will prepare me for the coming week. :)
Hope you all are getting lots of rest too!
xoxo

I know tons of you ladies have been asking for this so, as promised, I recorded a bridal makeup tutorial video for you all! It is very, very similar to how I did my makeup for my wedding last year. I just had better skin and I think the brow-highlight color was probably less intense for the wedding, since I used a different brush.
I've mentioned it before, but I will say it again, here are a few tips to keep in mind for makeup during your wedding:
* Photography is so important and will last longer than the day itself, so keep in mind how your makeup will look behind the lens
* Avoid anything that is too reflective like makeup/lotions with spf (including mineral makeup), and avoid glitters and shimmers if possible
* Use a matte brow bone highlight color and matte blush (you want the shine in your eyes, not your brow bone)
* A classic makeup look is always going to look good in photos, now and in the future
* Avoid anything that makes you too uncomfortable (eg. lenses if you don't wear them daily, eyelid tape if you aren't used to it, brand new untested foundation, etc)
* PRACTICE ahead of time, especially if you are doing your own makeup. With a makeup artist, set up a practice run before the wedding day to make sure you are going to get what you want.
* Use a new tube of WATERPROOF mascara!
* Long-wear lipcolor (I like Maybelline Superstay Gloss) can be really useful for not giving your husband a lipstick smear! ;)
I recorded this a couple days ago when I wasn't feeling well and was home sick, so please forgive the less-than-perfect skin. New cam records in HD!! Scary!! If you like the video, please comment, rate, and subscribe to my Youtube channel.
Here's a rundown of everything I used:
Face
- Graftobian concealer and hi-def foundation
- Everyday Minerals blush in Apple
- NYX Mosaic Powder in Highlighter
- MAC blot powder
Eyes
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- Clinique Brush-On Cream Liner in Deep Brown (as a base over the tape and blending into skin)
- Covergirl Lash Exact waterproof mascara
- MAC fluidline in blacktrack (lining both top and bottom lashlines)
- Criss-cross and tapering style false lashes
- Nyx single shadows in dark brown and white
- Revlon 12-hour eyeshadow quad in Copper Spice
Lips
- Maybelline Superstay Gloss in #160 Glass Rose
A few pics of the finished product:

And a bit further away to get the overall effect.

Hope it is helpful to you brides-to-be out there! Let me know if you have any wedding-specific questions and I will try to answer them to the best of my ability. I am doing makeup for a wedding in just a few weeks, so this was a fun little refresher for me. :)
I also wanted to add a little reminder that the Mineral Magic Cosmetics Giveaway is going on RIGHT NOW so please be sure to enter! I'm stoked to share some of their brushes with you because I really love the ones I own.
Okay, hopefully my cam battery is charged enough that I can take pics of these Ben Nye swatches on my arm. Haha. See you guys next time~
Aughhhh! I just wrote the entire post up for hours and for some reason, almost all of it deleted and autosaved with almost nothing. T_T Anyway, here's me rewriting everything.

Hey everyone! Sorry I have been posting less frequently lately but it is because my 1 year anniversary is coming up on Sunday! I can't believe it has already been one year and I can't imagine having lived any other way. It has even been, dare I say, easy?
It could be that we had dated for 7 years before we got married and got a lot of bumps out in the past but being around my best friend has been so rewarding emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. We are both really good about filling up each others' emotional bank accounts with hugs, laughter, and inside jokes and that helps to sustain us for when times get rough. As long as you are really ready, there is nothing better.
Now, on with the wedding photos.
Size 4 Linea Paolo heels. Mmm, shiny and sparkly!

Tiara

The bouquet. LOVE orchids, they were the theme of my wedding.

My tools. :D

The bridesmaids' dresses. I loved the Grecian goddess bust and the black velvet waist.

My dress

The gorgeous church. Orchids on the pews!

Getting ready

Last minute touch-ups on my maid of honor

I love the little buttons at the back of my dress

Getting my bling put on

Omma adjusting my necklace. <3

This dress had SO many layers that needed to be puffed out!

Crystal lily centerpiece. My mom and I put these all together. :)

Getting the giant veil put on

Pastor and hubs

Appa and me (and my bouquet! Both of which I were gripping onto for dear life!)

Ring, ring!

The kiss (or as my pastor called it, "You may now do the... Holy love action."

Too ridiculously happy

It's all over, we're hitched!

The after-party with a bit of my favorite, salsa dancing!

Our choreographed "Thriller" dance

Our couples dance

That's it, goodnight everyone!

Haha, sorry for so many photos but it was just too hard to choose! Thank you so much to Kassia for her wonderful photography to capture my wedding day. It still makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Now onto the makeup talk! There are a few rules that you are going to want to keep in mind for your wedding or special event like prom. I know rules are meant to be broken but for the makeup to last all day and look good in photography, these are good rules to keep in mind:
1. Stay away from glitter and shimmery makeup. You want the photos to show your face, not white reflective dots all over. This includes mineral makeup.
2. Stay away from sunscreen or anything with spf because it will give your face a white cast in photos. The only exception is an outdoor wedding. :)
3. USE PRIMERS! Urban Decay Primer Potion is always great for eyelids, and a face primer is sure to keep your face matte and looking smooth with no touch ups for longer.
4. Consider using long-wear lip colors. I used Maybelline Superstay Gloss in 160 Glass Rose.
5. If you are bent on using lipstick, first apply liner on the entire lip and then the lipstick. Blot lips on a tissue, apply a second layer of lipstick, and dust loose powder over the lips through a tissue. This will set the lipstick and make it last.
6. I recommend using all matte eyeshadows. You can get away with something with a satin finish on the lid or crease, but at least get a good matte highlight color. I used NYX single eyeshadows in white and brown, and the Revlon Colorstay quad in Copper Spice.
7. Exfoliate your skin and lips the day before so you have a smooth canvas to work on.
8. Consider using false eyelashes. They really make eyes shine in photos!
9. Buy and use a new tube of WATERPROOF MASCARA. You will cry. Other people will cry. You will cry because other people cry. Even if you don't, you still want to be safe. ;)
10. Practice! If you are doing your own makeup, you want a game plan before the big day. You'll want the least amount of surprises, trust me. If you are having a makeup artist, is really pays to have a trial run so you know what you are getting. There is nothing worse than feeling awful or self-conscious because you weren't prepared for an uncomfortable makeup artist job. Same goes for hair!
11. Go a little more dramatic than usual, but stick with a classic look that you will be comfortable with. Trendy is fun, but you want everything to stand the test of time. Just look at old 80's wedding pics! Ahhh, the hair and makeup!!!
12. Don't forget your nails. So many people will ask to see your ring and your hand will be photographed more than usual. A simple pale pink or french manicure is really clean and classy.
13. Hire an awesome photographer! Your pretty makeup and dress will all be just memories without a great photographer to capture them. Do not skimp on this, and check out photographers' portfolios before you agree for them to shoot your wedding.
14. Get plenty of sleep and drink a lot of water. You will be going at full speed so it will REALLY be needed!
15. Relax, have fun, and don't sweat the small stuff. No wedding is perfect so whatever happens, just roll with it and have a good time. :)
Good luck and congratulations all of you who are getting married, have already been married, and want to get married some day. It's a truly beautiful thing and I hope you guys enjoy having read about mine as much as I had sharing it with you.
XOXO

One of the things that can come along with marriage is the oh-so-wonderful thing called domesticism. Sure, you get a taste of it when you are living away from Mom and Dad in college or as a single person, but for me marriage was the big string cut making me a truly independent person. I am responsible not only for the health and well-being of myself, but also my husband.
That being said, I do a fair majority of the cooking. Ben does a good job, but I do have a bit more gusto for it as well as a small amount of experience and plenty of food network watching. I just wanted to share one of our little ghetto (and easy!) meals of the Korean cold noodle soup dish, mul nengmyun.

I didn't have any meat or kimchee on hand to put it in, but cucumbers and boiled egg are really what make the dish toppings, right? Ok, so we didn't even have bowls to put the soup in so we just used pyrex mixing bowls. But it was a dang good meal if I do say so myself!
Anyway, I recently received a pair of Pacifica lenses in Honey from the totally awesome Gregg. They are labeled as 3-month lenses and felt pretty comfortable compared to other lenses I've tried.

This is a close-up of the lenses in my eyes with flash and without flash.

I know the flash photo makes it look almost grey, but that was really the blue tint coming off of the flash. It is a warm honey shade up close which mixes with my eye color to create a golden brown color from talking distance. I really loved the almost sparkly, but natural, look these lenses gave.
In terms of makeup, I was preparing for an outdoor daytime shoot in my wedding dress. I wanted to show you guys a better close-up of my wedding makeup so I got another opportunity! I tried to recreate the same look using the same products.
Tools:
eyes
* Urban Decay Primer Potion
* Max Factor Lash Perfection Mascara
* Clinique Brush-on Cream Liner in Deep Brown (as a base over the tape and blending into skin)
* MAC fluidline in blacktrack (lining both top and bottom lashlines)
* Criss-cross and tapering style false lashes
* Nyx single shadows in dark brown and white
* Revlon 12-hour eyeshadow quad in Copper Spice and Nude Elements (1st color is my favorite tear duct highlighter)
face
* Monistat anti-chafing gel as primer
* Lancome Photogenic cream concealer in Camee for discoloration spots
* Everyday Minerals concealer in Sunlight for undereye brighening
* Everyday Minerals foundation in a mix of Golden Medium and Fairly Light Neutral, matte+intensive
* Everyday Minerals blush in Apple (my #1 recommendation for blushing brides)
* Everyday Minerals Finishing Powder
lips
* Maybelline Superstay Gloss in #160 Glass Rose
Just as a note, I wanted to add that you should avoid any makeup with glitters for wedding or photography. That means no sparkly shadows, liner, or glitter on your face or hair. For the brow bone highlight color especially, you should look for a matte shadow. Here's two photos without flash and one with. :)
