Youtube 10K Subscribers Giveaway!

I have an exciting announcement to make! If you are following my twitter you will already know this was coming but I now officially have more than 10,000 youtube subscribers! I feel like this is such a milestone because blogging was always my main thing, and when I decided to make youtube vids I really was welcomed with open arms. Many of you know that youtube is a bit of a scarier world than blog because there are so many people who come across your videos without bothering to get to know you (or your blog) and leave nasty comments.

All in all, I feel that I have been overwhelmed by all of the positivity in the comments on youtube and when I post videos here. I can feel the outpouring of love when hater comments are quickly given thumbs downs by my loyal readers and I am really grateful for you, whom I consider my friends, for supporting me even when I am not there beside you.

Customizing My Cute Pink Computer Tower ^.^

As a graduate of industrial design, I have a huge appreciation for the design of products. I'm someone who likes to surround herself with things that are visually pleasing and not just eye-catching, but things that make me smile. My kitchen is filled with shark-shaped oven mitts, tea towels with surfing dinosaurs embroidered on them, and a toothpick holder that looks like a rabbit coming out of a hat. You could say whimsy and cuteness are the themes of my style.

After years of working in the shop cutting, sanding, painting, sawing, and gluing, I've really come to appreciate things that are handmade and personally customized. This is why I decided (against the better judgement of my husband--oh you of little faith!) to customize my freakin' amazing computer tower. I spent so much time nerding it up on the computer that it made perfect sense to me to make it pink and girly! Mind you, it's not finished yet but I wanted to show you a little peek at my process and where it's at now. :D

This is what I started with, the Antec Skeleton computer tower. Pretty cool design but very masculine, don't you think?

This was the most meticulous part of the process, taping off everything that can't get paint on it. I double-wrapped all wires and important hardware inside with plastic, then sealed off the inside with more tape and plastic. Pretty sure hubby was rolling his eyes at me during this section. ;)

Next, I borrowed my parents garage to spray paint. We placed the computer on top of a few crates with plastic so that the garage wasn't sprayed pink and also so I could get low around all of the undersides and crevices. It took 2 cans of baby pink spray paint and 4-5 good coats. I also went back over it with a few coats of a sparkle top coat that I bought at the auto supply shop!

I wore a pink hoodie so that any flyaway spray paint wouldn't look so obvious. Hehe. The SARS mask was so that I wouldn't get even more sick than I already was. (Bad Jen!)

After I let my baby dry overnight I carefully peeled off all of the tape and here was the result! Baby pink goodness.

Hubby was darn impressed, if I do say so myself. Thank you, thank you. -brushes shoulder-

In return for my hard effort, he may have actually put the guts of the computer together for me. :p

I know this isn't the best shot but I wanted to show a close-up of the holographic goodness of the top coat. The sparkles are so fine, it's hard to get it on camera but if you look in the middle of the photo here you can see a bit of the rainbow effect.

I decided to record a video showing the SUPER AWESOME EFFECTS of the color-changing fan and the sparkly rainbowy goodness of the finish. Please do watch as the photos themselves do no justice to all of the crazy lights playing around the real thing. :D

Wahahaha, I am a crafty one but what can I say? I love my pink.

Look from 1 year ago! Shimmer & Smoke FOTD and OOTD

I was looking through my blog pics on my computer and I came across a FOTD that I never got around to posting. I feel like what I post has a lot to do with how I am feeling that day. The review, FOTD, swatches, whatever have to fit my mood and for some reason this FOTD just fell between the cracks even though I really loved this look! When I checked the date of when I edited the pics, it was almost exactly 1 year ago, April 18, 2009!

Just because it's fun to see what was going on a year ago, here's the FOTD. I really like the look! I should re-do it for a video sometime. ^_^

Extra winged eyeliner, using Eye Charm eyelid tape, my old-school favorite. ;)

My outfit for the day: Black leather jacket from Express, babydoll top from Forever 21, yellow tanktop and beige lightweight hoodie from Abercrombie, dark jeans (I can't tell which ones. Maybe Sirens?) and black over-the-knee Sephane Kelian boots from ebay.

Omg, I loved those earrings. Where did they go?! And I got that bracelet for suuuper cheap from Forever 21 which I was stoked about since it actually fit my tiny wrists. Wonder where that went too. Haha...

Sorry I can't be more specific about the look since it was from so long ago but I thought it was a bit funny to see what I was wearing a year ago. Biggest change? Now I wear Wonder Eyelid Tape more or lately, just false lashes and no tape since it's been flipping my lids to double itself. Eye Charm had a nice eye-opening look though! And for some reason I feel like my skin was darker a year ago but that might be all in my head. Hehe.

G&G Max Pure Pink Circle Lens Video Review

Today I have another lens that was graciously sponsored by Pinky Paradise. As I mentioned in my Twitter (follow me here) I thought they were really cute and exciting! The reason? They are PINK! :D

As you probably already know I am a huge fan of anything pink, cute, princessy, etc, etc so I jumped all over this review. And let me tell you, I'm not disappointed.

Here is the lens and animal case. I had a pink bear in the video, but I wanted to show this elephant too cause it's super cute. ^^

You can see the pattern of the actual lenses here and as you can see, the color printed on the lens itself is a pale, salmon pink with a bit of a rippled sunburst pattern fading into a black limbal ring.

Here are close-ups of the lens in dimmer and more direct indoor light. In dimmer light, it blends nicely into my natural brown iris color and in the brighter light, the pale pinky-lavender shade really pops. I'm almost certain the pink color would be even brighter in natural light but it was late when I tried these out after work. ;)

And how it looks on my face

All in all, I really really love these lenses! Even with the first wear, they were very comfortable to me and I wore them for around 4 hours with no problems. I have pretty sensitive eyes and often feel discomfort with lenses after as little as an hour but these didn't dry my eyes out and didn't make me dizzy either. Even plano lenses can be slightly... I don't want to say blurry, but a little wonky sometimes but these didn't have that problem. The only issue I had was since they were 14.5mm, the actual lens is quite large and I had troubles getting it into my left eye at first. Once it was on, it felt pretty good and didn't slide around my eyeball like some lenses do.

Now, you'll have to forgive me because I got a little snap happy since these lenses are so cute! I'm just loving how they come out in pictures. They are probably one of the most flattering lenses in my collection! Barely purple-toned but not unnaturally so like my Adult Violets. More like a softer and cuter lens that I could wear on any ordinary day. So with no further ado, onward commencing with le pic spam!

Smile with teeth, since it seems to always be requested.

I know I look like I'm 12 here. Better that than looking old, M I RITE??

I did want to mention that I'm wearing Skin 79 Super BB Triple Functions (Hot Pink) bb cream that I also received from Pinky Paradise which so far I'm loving! Really makes skin look smooth and flawless. Will do a review once I test it out for a while longer.

I also used Lioele Blooming Pearl Shimmer Base (pink) from Pretty and Cute which I failed at swatching on my hand here but I think you can pick up on the slight glow in my complexion in these pics. I'll review this also once I've tested it out a bit longer! (Just realized I'm doing an Asian "punch in the face" pose as per Asian Poses. You guys should visit this site. It's hilarious!)
