As I said in the video, I feel a bit justified for being biased toward high-end makeup for the face and low-end makeup for the eyes. It is probably because of the area I live in not being very diverse (midwest) but seriously, I was shocked when I tested out the Maybelline concealer because it was SO light! It's true that I'm currently in my "tan stage" after this heat wave of a summer, but I know for a fact that there are plenty of white girls who are my skin color or tanner and they would not match this concealer either!
Also, I felt pretty sad about the Covergirl Natureluxe foundation not working for me because G over at Nouveau Cheap loves it. A little bird mentioned to me that the formula may have been inspired by Armani foundation but I have not tried it and cannot speak for that myself.
It almost worked out and it doesn't look that bad on my face in person especially after initial application, but it definitely gave my face a ruddier look since it has pinker undertones than what I should be using. It starts with a nice satin finish but my face gets oily within a couple hours. Definitely a return.
Check out this screencap I took of Covergirl's page for this foundation. Pink, pink, pink, pink, and dark.
Did Covergirl not get the memo that most people are warm-toned? I guess it makes sense why they chose Taylor Swift as their spokesmodel. It certainly wouldn't have been Jessica Alba, which to that I will say, "Thank you Revlon, for making yellow-based foundations!"
I'm sure in the future they will get the hint and improve but for now, I will stick with Makeup Forever and bb creams for my base makeup. ^_~
Anyway, to do a quicker recap about the rest, I loved all of the eye products I tried save for some packaging flaws that could be improved, and kudos to Wet & Wild for really stepping up the drugstore game in general. I appreciate their pigmentation and quality, especially in the face of bigger companies (*cough*Covergirl*cough*) who are great at some things like mascara, but really suck when it comes to blushes and foundations!
I hope that my reviews helped those of you who were interested in picking up some of the items I tested out!
If you want to see swatches you can see my haul blog post here as well.
Now I have to go pack for... shall we say... a search for that je ne sais quoi! ;)

Hi, long time follower. I've recently heard of bb cream via Sephora. Can you tell me a little more about it? It it used as foundation? And which brand do you recommend? BTW, you're adorable.
ReplyDeletedear jen! i went to the covergirl website, looking for some info. but still i cant find it. do they ship worldwide? really hope you can answer! love you jen! i'll be visiting again for your reply! <3

I don't feel like one brand is always capable of making every product 100%, so I always end up using things here and there to do my makeup. I've also been giving up on drugstore foundations since most if not all of the foundations I've tried either failed to last long or just didn't really do anything. Any more drugstore recs for foundation (asian ppl!).
ReplyDeleteAre you visiting Paris~? Have fun ;) Bon voyage!
Great post!! new subby on YB<3 :) xo
ReplyDeleteAgreed with jchokie please do a bb cream review/ good brands! Thanks love your inputs!
ReplyDeletealthough you look good all the time, in this video you look particularly... vibrant? lol
ReplyDeletesorry if that was weird; just felt compelled to say that lolol
Hi Jen! I was wondering if you had any good all-in-one (lengthening, volumizing, waterproof) drugstore mascaras to recommend for asian lashes :) thanks so much! Your videos are awesome :)
ReplyDelete♥ This look is so pretty!!! thanks so much for the reviews!! please do more drugstore products reviews in the future if u can !!thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Jen, do you wear bb cream everyday going to work?
ReplyDeletethanks!
I hope you recycle that Physician's Formula compact instead of throwing it out! And encourage others to do so, too, please. :)
ReplyDeleteJen, have you tried any foundation from Bobbi Brown? I'm seriously considering, because of the praises about it, but you know, it's expensive XD
ReplyDeleteI tried Rimmel foundation back then, and it was actually not bad! There are shades quite yellow tone so you can check that out if you plan to give drugstore foundation another try!
Also, did you change your camera? I don't know why, but this video looks surprisingly a lot more HD-ish :P
(And yay for going on a trip! Bon voyage :D You're going to eat tons of baguette bread, and God knows French pastries are killers.)
JCHokie: I have 2 whole videos going over swatches of all types of bb creams. You can find it here: http://www.frmheadtotoe.com/search/label/bb%20cream
ReplyDeleteSabrina: I'm not sure if they ship worldwide since I bought mine at my local drugstore. Maybe check on Amazon.com or Drugstore.com?
hamstaball: I am! Thanks!
seventoes and soiia: I got a new camera so I think it's because of the super HD quality. ;)
Arielle: This Covergirl orange one is pretty good! You should try it out.
Noniek: I do wear bb cream most days. I feel like foundation is to heavy for day-to-day!
CC: I am definitely recycling it. ;)
Can you please do a tutorial of your eye look in this video? I love that eyeshadow!!! Thank you for your awesome videos, I am mono lidded also and they are really helpful!!!
ReplyDeletethank you so much for your videos! i have monolids and your tutorials have been so helpful for me. can you please, please, please do an arabic bridal tutorial for hooded eyes or monolids? i'd love to see how the look can be modified to suit a different eyelid type.
ReplyDeleteJen, I love your reviews! I have also bought the same products from your reviews for the drugstore hauls and love them! you always feature the best products that i wouldn't even think of trying.
ReplyDeletei have been searching around for the mineral blush and each store i went they don't carry blushing glow. where did u buy yours? i'm wondering if this color is discontinued..
Such a great post!
ReplyDeleteI'm so weary of drug store brands, because most of the stuff I've tried have been quite disappointing, but you've inspired me to try more! :D

Great post! I like your make up!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I love your necklace.
ReplyDeleteHi Jen! You mentioned in your video you're curious as to whether Covergirl has a mascara that has both volumizing and lengthening. I use the Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion which is both lengthening and volumizing in water resistant. It has the same brush and packaging as the Volume version.
ReplyDeleteHi Jen, I was wondering what the difference between FAIRYDROPS Scandal Queen and FAIRYDROPS Platinum was? I'm very confused because you said you thought SQ was okay but now you love it? They are selling it on Sephora.com now but I ordered the Japanese version. I think found your old favorite Fairydrops mascara here: http://www.sannas.jp/main/en/cosmetics/makeup/t259.html
ReplyDeletePlease help!
Hi Jen, I just followed your blog as I really love it & your YT channel too! I learn so much makeup and fashion tips from you =)
ReplyDeleteI started out a blog myself recently and hope if you have time, you can drop by. Thanks! ^^

Hey, Jen! Thanks so much for these reviews!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you reviewed the NatureLuxe. I was thinking about trying it but now I know not to; I can't believe there are now yellow based ones!
Thanks ^^
Ashley: I will put a tutorial on my list!
ReplyDeleteElle Luxe: I don't have a specifically Arabic Bridal tutorial, but the Princess Jasmine halloween look is very similar to what I would do, except in a jewel-tone like deep purple. If you wanted to copy the look for now you might try that!
aerisxaria: I bought it on sale so I wouldn't be surprised if it got discontinued. :/
Angela: My favorite is the Scandal Queen Waterproof version in a pink metallic tube, not the gold water-resistant version which is selling at Sephora. FAIRYDROPS Platinum Waterproof is the same thing as what I love which sells in Asia. :)
Hi. Wow! I think you are the most beautiful vlogger I've seen. ;)

ReplyDeleteThanks for the review and realy nice makeup;)
ReplyDeletehi jen, a new follower to your blog. i loved this video. i picked up the mascara and eyeshadow duo and love them! in the video and it person, the shadow looks almost grey with purple undertones. any chance you can do a video on how you applied those colors?
ReplyDeletethanks for the tips!
hi jen! for your nail polish, i clicked on your link but it didn't have that shade. I also googled it but it doesnt seem to be available anywhere except amazon UK but it wont ship to me in California. do you know if that shade Maybelline Express Finish in 155 Speedy Hot Tamale is discontinued? if so do you have any dupes/alternatives for it? i really really love the color in your video : )
ReplyDeleteOmg I love your eye makeup in this video... please tell me how to do it!
ReplyDeleteDear Jen, could you please have a video on your all time favourite make-up products including eye-liner,blush,lip stick, eye-shadow etc. I have really sensitive skin, so having a really good foundation or bb cream that gives good coverage and also helps acne would really be great, do you have any recommendations? Thank you xxx
ReplyDeleteur makeup is georgous!!!!!!
ReplyDeletekisses from Israel
Hi Jen, I know your top looks like a plain v-neck tee, but I love the color! Where did you get it?
ReplyDeleteSusan Yang: Yes, the color is quite old so it's probably discontinued. I don't remember if it's just an old one in my collection, or from the $1 store!
ReplyDeletePhoebe: My tee is from a year or two ago from American Eagle. :)
umm if you are still looking for a good drugstore foundation, I kind of like the 'neutrogena healthy skin compact make up spf 55 helioplex'. Its sheer to medium coverage but I love that it has such an high spf and it has a dewy finish (like bb pacts). downside is that it does not have the best oil control but it doesnt break me out..I have sensitive combination skin prone to occasional breakouts. I am a nc 30/35 depending on the season and I think buff 30 or natural ivory 20 goes perfect with my skin (as its quite sheer)
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you about CG NatureLuxe Foundation. I got one from BzzAgent a while back and it made my face look like Pepto Bismol =_=;;; It's a shame. I liked the lightweight feel.
ReplyDeleteI just started with make up 2 months ago!! And all this vids on Youtube are so helpful!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat ever happened to your review of the Fairy Drops Candybar BB Cream? I was looking forward to your full review. You got me interested in it when you mentioned it in the previous month's Hits and Misses. Thanks for faithfully continuing this series -- I'm limiting my spending habits so I live vicariously through your hauls!
ReplyDeleteI love your necklace! Where did you get it? :)
ReplyDeletejen! i have a whole bunch of back ups of that maybelline mineral power concealers in medium shade lol did you still want to try one? i can send one to you if you want, or like if you have a p.o. box?
ReplyDeleteI really like the Maybelline Dream mousse powder. its so smooth and controls oil too. Makes my skin so soft and natural looking :)
ReplyDeleteHow to do you wear Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Face Powder ? Do you put on a primer or just put it on and go. Was it long lasting? I hear powder is better for oily skin. Is neutrogena or bare escentuals better ? Thanks
ReplyDeleteYou can wear it on its own or to set foundation. I actually think it works better for dry/normal skin than oily! I haven't tried neutrogena or bare escentuals powder sso I can't really say about those.
DeleteDo you know if the shade of the Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Face Powder is Beige or Buff Beige? Thanks!
