LORAC Pro Palette Review & Swatches

9:44 PM

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to share a review of one of my most-used products lately, the LORAC Pro Palette. I first heard about this palette from several Youtube girls absolutely raving about it so you know I had to pick it up myself and see what all the fuss was about. Any palette that boasts a plethora of matte shades intrigues me so I knew I had to have it! Does it live up to the hype? Let's take a look!

This neutral eyeshadow palette has 16 total colors with the top half being matte and bottom half satin/shimmer shades. Each square shadow contains 0.02 oz of product and the palette itself is quite thin and travel-friendly while also including a mirror that is large enough to be usable. It also comes with a mini 0.17 oz eyeshadow primer. The color names are nice and straight-forward, simply being the color itself.

White / Cream / Taupe / Light Pink
Nude / Champagne / Gold / Light Bronze

 Mauve / Sable / Espresso / Black
Pewter / Garnet / Deep Purple / Slate

Here are the swatches. As you can see, the left half includes mostly lighter shades and the right half has mostly darker and "colorful" shades including the reddish Garnet, Deep Purple, and Slate.

 White / Cream / Taupe / Light Pink / Mauve / Sable / Espresso / Black
Nude / Champagne / Gold / Light Bronze / Pewter / Garnet / Deep Purple / Slate

I wanted to give you 2 different angles so you can really see the difference between the matte top shades and the shimmery shades below.

White / Cream / Taupe / Light Pink / Mauve / Sable / Espresso / Black
Nude / Champagne / Gold / Light Bronze / Pewter / Garnet / Deep Purple / Slate

As you can see, these shadows are quite pigmented and easy to work with. A couple of the matte shades are a bit chalky, but it's more like a finely-milled chalky than a fallout chalky like Wet & Wild shadows. I was worried that the micro-glitters in Champagne would also cause a lot of fallout but again, it doesn't seem to be an issue when I'm wearing it. The satiny shades are especially nice quality.

Overall, I've really been loving using this palette, especially Taupe, Sable, and Espresso for an all-matte neutral eye. I know it seems like a Naked dupe but I really tend to grab this palette for the mattes so if you love mattes you may want to consider this over Naked.

For comparison, the Urban Decay Naked Palette contains 12 x 0.05 oz shadows (.6 oz total) and a .13 oz Primer Potion and eyeshadow brush for $50 while LORAC Pro Palette contains 16 x 0.02 oz shadows (.32 oz total) and a .17 oz primer for $42. Value-wise, it's almost half the product amount in Urban Decay's Naked palettes so you are really paying more for the variety and convenience. Out of all neutral palettes it doesn't beat out my beloved Naked, but for those who love mattes and want more variety in one palette for a lower price the LORAC Pro Palette is a wonderful option for neutral-lovers out there!

Readers, what is your favorite neutral palette? Do you use mostly mattes or shimmery shadows? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I love how this palette is organized so the matte and shimmery colors are separated but the similar colors are together. Even a Ricky-Retardo like me can create amazing looks. I really want it, but it seems that the stores are always sold out when I go to buy it! Do you think they will ever make a number 2 Pro Palette?

    1. Ugh yes! I had this same problem when I went to buy mine. We visited 3 different Sephoras before I finally found one that even carried it, and it's always sold out online. It would do so well if it were marketed wider! I don't know if they would make a 2 but I don't think they'd need to since 1 is so good. :)

  2. This looks like a great palette. I've been loving my Naked palette, and it works great, but this looks like an even better one. I love how it has both matte and shimmery shades.

  4. I think I would really love this palette, I just don't understand why there isn't any palettes on the world which contains only matte shades... :( I don't need any shimmery ones, only mattes! :P

  5. Great post Jen! Btw, have you seen the new Vichy ProEven Mineral BB Cream? I heard it was "inspired" by the Korean BB Creams, and was formulated to be like it... any thoughts? I'm really interested in your opinion on that product, since you've pretty much tried most of the Korean BB Creams under the sun... O_____o haha!! Thanks! :D

  7. A few weeks ago I went to Sephora and was told that Lorac is being phased out so many Lorac items are not available here (I'm in Hawaii). They said that most of the Hawaii stock was already sent back to the main office. I'm not sure if it's only in Hawaii Sephoras that Lorac is being phased out or if from all Sephora.

This is really too bad because I used a couple of Lorac products before and really liked it. I was really interested in seeing what this palette looked like, which is what I went to Sephora for a few weeks ago.

  8. Great review Jen! We've been eyeing this for some time but haven't been able to justifying buying it yet. But since you said you prefer the naked palette over this we may have to reconsider :)We like to use both matte and shimmery shadows, but for uni we prefer to stick to more matte shadows to keep us from looking too over the top.

  11. Gah, Jen you are really making me want this! I love the perfect balance between the matte and shimmery shades, it makes it actually more interesting than the Naked palettes although I love both of those to bits! Seems like Lorac has some really nice neutral palettes to offer, I'm impressed!

  13. The Lorac Pro palette is so nice looking! I just wish they didn't put animal product in it! >_< Huge discouragement. Maybe someday!! I really liked how you included the per oz price (if that makes sense). I always appreciate your reviews even if I can't use some of the products. :)

  14. Thanks for this review! I picked this up for the row of mattes too and just for that, I like it with separate love from my Naked palettes. It's like love for children--you love each one differently. <3 I like Sable and Expresso too! And Garnet gets a lot of wear now.

  15. I have been going back and fourth about buying this palette forever. I just don't know if I need anything else, after my Naked!

I also really like that the names are straight to the point. No fuss!

  17. I got the palette, the colors are beautiful!! But no matter how lightly I dab my brush, there's always an unbearable amount of fallout. It creates a mess on my vanity and my face! even after I tap the brush! I gave up on it!

  19. Is there any dupe that you can think of for Gold? I don't need most of the colors in this palette, but I really want that color!

  21. I have recently purchase this pallet and I have to admit that it took over the place of my Naked 3 at the moment !!!
They are so pigmented and creamy, yet it is easy to blend. You can also mix it with just water to create more dimension and to create "an eye liner" look !! Happy collecting everyone ! BTW Jen, I love your videos !!!
