GAMORA Makeup & Costume | Guardians of the Galaxy (Halloween 2014)
8:16 PMI love Halloween season and I try to make it a point to create at least one crazy tutorial each year. Thank goodness that Guardians of the Galaxy had such a BA inspirational female lead! Not only is Gamora green and sexy (Kermit the Frog would have weak knees) but she's also strong and intelligent as well, just ignore the face that she's a skilled assasin. You guys. There are not enough Gamora characters out there for women to look up to.
Because she's just an all-around fantastic character inside and out, I chose to create this all-out green Gamora makeup and costume tutorial for you. Check it out below!
PRODUCTS MENTIONED:
glue stick | Elmer's Glue Stick
foundation primer | Too Faced Primed and Poreless
green makeup | Green Cream Makeup
green contour | Sugarpill Shadow in Midori
translucent powder | Tarte Smooth Operator Powder
olive eyeshadow | MAC Humid Eyeshadow
black eyeshadow | MAC Carbon Eyeshadow
liquid eyeliner | Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner
pencil eyeliner | Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil in Zero
false lashes | Esqido False Eyelashes
silver eyeliner | Urban Decay Liquid Eyeliner in Bobby Dazzle
thin liquid eyeliner | Urban Decay Liquid Liner in Perversion
ON ME:
Here are some makeup inspiration shots that I used as reference. Top shot is a glamorized version with maroon eyeshadow and contoured cheeks and bottom is a more "everyday" Gamora. Haha.
This action figure closeup actually came in handy for defining where her silver facial markings were. Pretty crazy how accurate they can make figures nowadays, right?
Finished look:
Kermit was right. It really isn't easy being green! I used 3-4 laters of Green Cream Makeup all over and stuck to green eyeshadows both for face and eye contouring. It's a bit weird thinking of a color so saturated as being a neutral but I think the nose and cheek contouring really gives the flat color a lot of life.
Here you can really see the shape that I contoured the eyes, focusing on the inner eye socket and elongating the eyes at the ends.
Although you could use a silver pencil, I highly recommend picking up a silver liquid liner for this look like Urban Decay's Bobby Dazzle. The extra crispness really helps the facial details to pop.
I hope you guys enjoyed this Halloween tutorial! If there are any other costumes or tutorials you'd like to see, feel free to leave me a recommendation in the comments.
Readers, what do you plan on dressing up as this Halloween? What's your favorite character from Guardians of the Galaxy? Let me know in the comments below!
