April 2012 Beauty Favorites

7:47 PM

I'm very excited to say that it's time for another monthly favorites video! This past month, the weather has gone from mild to HOT so my favorites have adjusted to the change. I've been less interested in covering every last flaw up and turning more toward my skincare routine to give me a healthier canvas to work with. Because of this, I have a couple new skincare favorites and my new favorite warm-weather essentials to share with you!

Check them out below, as well as the announcement for my giveaway winner!

PRODUCTS MENTIONED:

Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream
Mario Badescu Healing Cream
Stila Bronzing Powder in 01
Lash'em lashes in M6
Urban Decay Super Saturated Lip Color in Lovechild
Shu Uemura Art of Hair Cleansing Oil Shampoo
Sam Edelman Gigi Sandals (Also in silver/Womens Gigi in Rose Gold, Saddle Leather, and cute patterns)

ON ME:

Dress is from H&M (similar for $15/similar/similar romper)
Earrings are from Hautelook (my invite)
Nail polish is OPI Breathe Life (my swatches here)

Congrats to lnm145 for winning my 250k subbies giveaway and thank you to everyone who entered!

I was super overwhelmed/delighted by the entries and your feedback really helped and encouraged me so much. I want to especially thank my blog readers since I had quite a few of you enter on the video, then ran out of space so you wrote more in the comments here. I can't tell you what that means to me and I really believe that my blog readers know me better than anyone online, so the meaningful comments here really touched my heart.

I'm going to have to apologize about not highlighting some of the products in the video this month for the blog, but there have been some personal things clouding my mind lately. I recorded the video a few days ago so truthfully, my heart is in a different place. My husband's grandfather, whom we are very close to, is in the final stage of battling cancer and we visited him in the hospital today. I don't mean to end on a terribly sad note since I don't usually like to send my personal burdens out on other people, but I know several of you have gone through the same thing so any prayers would be appreciated.

I'm sending my love and prayers out to those of you who have battled cancer, know someone who is battling cancer, or have lost someone to cancer. Life is too short, so remind your loved ones how much you love them.

xoxo

  5. Hugs Jen! I know what you are going through. Lost my father to cancer after a short 5 month battle. Although it was so quick, in many ways it was a blessing because we know he did not suffer for very long. This was 15 1/2 years ago and it still hurts a bit, although time has helped. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

  12. God bless to you and your family. My father was diagnosed with cancer some time ago, and although it's slow growing at the moment, we worry about it progressing. I don't know exactly what you guys are going through, but I know the fear of having a loved one struggling with cancer. I hope you all are doing well, and hope that your grandfather-in-law gets better.

Thank you for your beautiful and inspiring Youtube videos. :)

  15. aww.. I'll include him and your family in my prayers Jen. My sister went through Chemo last year and now she's very healthy. I know it's hard having someone special fight cancer. Cancer really sucks but it just makes us stronger. Not just the person with cancer but everyone who's been their with that person. It's a tough road, but whatever happens, I know God has a plan and it's always for the best.

  23. Love your blog, love the new look of the website. The lashes look great, but if they're really made from mink fur......I won't go further, and I'll try not to preach. They do look great, but just think about it....... Love your blog lots, and please don't take offense. It's all meant in kindness :)
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family, being an oncology and hospice nurse and having lost my dad to cancer, I know how hard it can be. Lots of hugs.

  26. Hey Jen,

I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather; it's always hard to have a loved one sick or in pain.
My mother died from stage 4 lung cancer many years ago, when I was about 9; she had been at war with the cancer for 3 years... She was my best friend, confidant, and most of all, my mom. However, my grandfathers both had cancer, and they lived to be over 80-something!
I wish the best of luck to you and your family - you deserve the best. Our thoughts are with you.

  29. Hi Jen! I'm a first time post-er, long time follower. Sorry to hear about your husband's grandfather. Hang in there and be strong! I love these monthly favorites videos. You've gotten me obsessed with many products and I thank you for that! Quick question, have you ever tried using eyelash primers? I have super short, thin eyelashes and have been wanting to spruce them up with something. Do you have any recommendations?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hey JEN! I really hoe your grandfather-in-law will have a quick turn around and I wish you the best. Cancer is a pretty touchy topic, my aunt actually was diagnosed with breast cancer a while back. But luckily she was able to pull through chemo and she's doing fine now.
What is your skin type btw? Do you know any good drugstore eye creams for dry/normal skin types. I realised I have some tiny wrinkles on the corners of my eyes, and it's kind of alarming as I'm only 20. But that may have been because I wasn't exposed to skincare when I was younger and I live in a tropical climate.
I'd love to hear back from you!

    xoxo

  45. Hi Jen, wondering have you used Clinique anti blemish spot treatment gel before? Mario badescu is better compare to that?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I actually have been using the Clinique anti blemish recently and I like it too! It's less trouble since you don't need a cotton swab to apply it, but maybe slightly less effective than the Mario Badescu.
