$20 Makeup Challenge!
4:00 AMHey everyone! Today I wanted to share the $20 Makeup Challenge tag. The concept is simple since it's basically just as the title implies. You get 20 bucks to complete an entire makeup look from start to finish using products purchased with only $20 before taxes including all primers, base, color makeup, and tools like lash curlers or brushes.
Since I usually like to mix drugstore and department store makeup, it was definitely a challenge to use not only drugstore products, but the less expensive drugstore products to boot! Many people don't realize that even a drugstore foundation can cost $10-$15, plus I didn't want to skimp on a full-on look that I could leave the house in.
Did I complete the challenge? Click below to see!
PRODUCTS MENTIONED:
$1.00 ELF Eyelid Primer
$1.00 ELF Waterproof Eyeliner Pen (similar Maybelline/Revlon)
$1.00 ELF Natural Lash Kit Lashes (similar natural lashes)
$1.12 Wet & Wild coloricon brow & eye liner in 655 Charcoal
--------
$18.18 total ($1.82 under the limit! :)
ON ME:
Necklace is from Ebay
Nail Polish is Eyeko Coral Polish
I had a lot of fun trying out a bunch of new products including ELF which I hadn't previously tried before. Wet & Wild is a brand that I've enjoyed for a while, but discovered their lipstick to be super long lasting and gorgeous as well! Unfortunately there were also a couple bombs for me like the Milani concealer which broke me out big time the next day and the ELF Clarifying Powder which was actually not bad (it has surprisingly good coverage) but didn't match my skintone.
Truth be told, this challenge reaffirms my belief that most eye and lip products from the drugstore can be just as good as something you'd find high end, but for face products I still prefer mid-to-high-end products since the quality and ability to color-match before buying does seem to improve from the cheapest of drugstore offerings.
Hope you enjoyed the tag and I'd love to see what you come up with for your $20 challenge. I tag everyone reading this! Feel free to leave a link in the comments down below. :)

Sometimes it's not about the make up it's how you apply it. Good job jen!
ReplyDeleteI love that drugstore brands have totally been stepping up their makeup game as of late! I'm actually a huge fan of Revlon's lip butters and their Grow Luscious eyeliner! And Maybelline's Lash Blast mascaras are a firm favorite. However, I'm with you on mid-to-high brands for skin products, and I'll use NARS Orgasm/Laguna blush/bronzer and both Naked palettes forever (unless there are awesome drugstore alternatives to both that I don't know about?).
ReplyDeleteLooking gorgeous as always!

My absolute favorite lipstick is Red Velvet (sorry dear mac and chanel....) and other faves from the line are Purty Persimmon and Stoplight Red. Red velvet is TO DIE FOR.

ReplyDeleteHi! I just read your hidrocor mel review and recently ordered a pair but now have found out that they have changed the opacity. Since you have dark brown eyes similar to mine i was wondering if you were wearing the new or old color or have tried the new color. The rumor is that you can barely tell a difference with the new hidrocor mels :( Thanks for the info in advance!!
ReplyDeleteNice blog !!
