Haul & Vlog: IMATS and Anime Expo (Unii Palette Giveaway)!

As those of you who follow me on Twitter may know, I attended a couple of really fun conventions in the last couple of weeks. First off was IMATS, the big makeup convention that I also went to last year. Unfortunately due to my filming schedule of Away We Happened, I wasn't able to visit during the public days but I did get to pop in for a couple short hours between call times on Friday. I of course picked up a few goodies that I wanted to share. :)
The next weekend, I was super excited to go to Anime Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Trust me, I was in cosplay heaven and there were tons of people who went all out from wigs to makeup to impressively elaborate costumes. I'm super nerdy and a long-time fan of anime so it was very, very exciting! Definitely had to control myself so I wouldn't purchase every cute plushy or animatronic cat ears that I passed by. Again, lots of cute things to share!

To show you a little sneaky peek into what I wore one of the days of Anime Expo, here is my Rainbow Dash cosplay from My Little Ponies. I'm a huge MLP fan! I uploaded this pic onto my Instagram that day.

I also ran into this guy at AX whom you may recognize as well. He's "that guy from that one anime" aka Wes from Wong Fu Productions. It was only fitting considering we'd been filming together for the last 5 Saturdays so we just had to see each other again on this Saturday. ^_^
By the way, these Necomimi ears are really fascinating! They were borrowed from Wes's friend in my video but it uses brain wave technology to actually adjust positions according to your thought patterns. It's crazy! I showed them off in the video so check it out at 14:20 if you haven't seen it already. ;)

ReplyDeleteLove your MLP hoodie! I will have to check out the new show! Have you ever seen the 80s MLP movie with the rainbow of light and flutter valley? I used to watch that over and over. I even made my own rainbow of light necklace.
So glad you enjoyed the anime convention! I would love to go to one! I was obsessed with Sailor Moon in middle/high school. My parents would take me to China Town every weekend and let me spend $5 to get posters and stickers. I still have everything saved. I even use my old pencil boxes for my desk.

Aww, the Sailor Moon memory is pretty adorable! I think I did have the MLP movie (or at least 1 of them) on VHS. Good times! I always loved the seahorse ponies. :D

ReplyDeleteYes I definitely want to do more fashion posts/videos in the future! I will make it a point to do those again, and I want to do more reviews on the blog as well. That should help with the demonstration part!

ReplyDeleteLove the ears!!!! This video was so much fun to watch and reminded me of the past. When I was little animes weren't that popular here in Germany, but I always watched series like Sailor Moon, Georgie and Lady Oscar with the little girls I baby-sat on later when I was in senior high.

ReplyDeleteHi Jen! Love your video's! they help me out so much. I didn't start wearing make up until a couple of years ago. I am the type of person that does not wear make up. However, I wear make up if it is for an occasion. I actually tried your Snowy Ice Princess look for a friends wedding I was in. I received many comments about it. I also love make up for ever. I find that the brand works well with my acne skin, especially the HD waterproof liquid foundation. Anyways, sorry for rabbling on.
