Bronzed Goddess Makeup Tutorial
7:32 PM
Hello everyone! Today's makeup tutorial is one that I've been wearing quite frequently this summer and I'm absolutely smitten by the look. I remember a few years back seeing Nicole Richie sporting the really popular trend of a bronzed smokey eye with the copper shadow ringing a halo entirely around the eyes. The intensity of the look made such an impact on my memory because it was so striking without being as harsh as a black shadow, so I wanted to share my version with you as well.
This is a look that can be worn during the day, but also looks amazing during warm summer evenings. Since the look is already smudgey, it will look fresh without sliding off throughout the day!
Check out the video and more photos below!

Here you can see the shadow which defines my eye socket in an almond shape. For newcomers to makeup, this is actually one of the easiest ways of applying shadow because it's mainly one block of color on the lids with limited contouring. It's especially flattering on those with monolids or small creases.
Here is a close-up so you can see the almond shape of the shadow on the lids while open. As you can see, today the eye on the left has a small crease while the one on the right is monolidded. (Here's a past tutorial for uneven eyelids.) The look works equally well for both types of lids! Nude pink lips let the eyes have the attention to balance the face.
For some reason I thought this one looked kind of like those cheesy "glamour shots" so I figured you might enjoy my ginormous smile as well. Haha! You know I always bring the cheese.
Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed the tutorial! Do you change your makeup for the summer? Have you tried copper smokey eyes? Let me know in the comments if you try the look out and what other looks you'd like to see next!

Hi, Jen! I wear contact lenses and maybe because of that, my eyeliner never stays at the corner of eyes. The lines get wiped off by tears completely. Do you recommend this Mac eyeliner for people like me?
ReplyDeleteYes, gel liners tend to stay on better than nearly every type of eyeliner. The only liner that stays even longer are occasional liquid liners that can be a pain to wear everyday because they are really hard to remove, like MAC liquilast eyeliner.
Deleteaw, this is gorgeous, thanks for the video, I'm going to try this kind of eye make up soon :D you're so inspiring! hehe
ReplyDeleteI love this look! I am a fan of copper looks and this is great for that sunkissed look!

ReplyDeleteYou look breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteYeah! I'm trying this look since it looks so easy. You look so pretty!
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot to mention. New things I learned from watching your vlog: 1. I did not know that you have to put eye shadow on the eyeliner to set it! 2. Where the heck do I put bronzer on my face (so I never bought and tried one)? Now I'm gonna go practice contouring. Thanks for the very simple directions and explanations. I can actually follow along!
DeleteAre you wearing false lashes? If so, what kind???? They look great!!
ReplyDeleteHmm this look will be perfect for an outdoor concert I'm going to soon! Love your blog btw, been a follower for almost two years now!

gorgeous! would the Stila eyshadow trio in GODDESS be close to what you used?
ReplyDeleteHi Jen! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a tutorial on concealing post-acne scarring/hyperpigmentation/blemishes. I think we have the same skin type and issues. Also, having monolids myself and wimpy lashes, I've discovered LASH EXTENSIONS. Have you heard of them? I just got lash extensions a couple weeks ago and it's the answer to my eyelash woes! NO mascara and I have long, lush lashes that look like I put mascara on. It's amazing! Highly recommend!!! Let me know :o)
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Love your YouTube channel too :) check out http://www.fluffville.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteJen..ur so gorgeous..and so beautiful..hope someday i could meet you in person..GBU^^
ReplyDeleteJen, I love your makeup tutorials. <3 :)
ReplyDeleteI have been following your blog for a while and I got to say this look is by far my favorite look!! I can't wait till I try it tomorrow morning!! BTW a lot of the things you suggest I buy like Naked, 24/7 eyeliner, nail polish color and drug store finds! And a lot of the things you talk about I get and I love them! Thanks for the great reviews on products!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and I've noticed that you have quite the extensive collection of makeup!!! Most you've used before! I've been really wanting to get the Naked palette but I know I won't be like using it everyday. I've heard that make-up 'expires' or isn't safe to use after a certain period because it 'goes bad'. Is this true? Could you make a video or blog post about how long you keep your make up for before it's time to throw it away?
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
I think this is one of my favorite looks from you! My monolids drive me nuts because the hooded part pushes false lashes out of place after a while; I feel like I have to superglue them on! Also, because of the lack of lid creases, I have to put the eyeliner on super-thick so it can be seen. Then people tell me I'm wearing too much liner or that I didn't apply my shadow correctly. :( Anyway, thanks for the tutorial!
ReplyDeleteThis look is so gorgeous <3
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny, this is the first time i left comment in any website. i just simply like your makeup style and I like how you mix up high end cosmetics or skincare products with drugstore products. That is what I do with my daily makeup and skincare routine. I just have a question, maybe this is not related to your professional but I just like to know your opinion. I live with my bf, he went to work early in the morning however my schedule is different so I dont have to get up so early in the morning like he does. But every day my bf gets up in the morning he has to make me get up too. he wants me to get ready for his scrubs, coffee , breakfast, pack lunch, etc. if i dont get up or he is a little late he will blame me and he always said that my job is to taking care of him. In my opinion, i would like to help him but that is not my JOB, i just dont think this is fair, but i dont want to fight with him so do you have any strategy do deal with situation like that?
ReplyDeleteThis article is really worth reading, it has too much details in it and yet it is so simple to understand, Thanks for sharing the series pictures they had great details in them and i really appreciate your true artistic work!
