Manicure Monday: China Glaze Ruby Pumps

9:00 AM

Hey everyone! Today I have another holiday-perfect manicure to share with you that has consistently been one of my favorites through the years. In my eyes, every woman should have a perfect sparkly red to wear during the festive season and this is my highest recommendation: China Glaze Ruby Pumps.

It's one of those classic polishes that every company tries to replicate, but Ruby Pumps is the original and does it best. Trust me, I've tried so many dupes that left me dissatisfied every time. If you are looking for a red that is truly flattering on everyone, definitely try this one out!

More photos and info below!

This medium red is a true crimson with glowing red glitter which catches the light beautifully. I know not everyone is a glitter polish lover like I am, but Ruby Pumps has a special place in my heart as one of my favorite polishes all year round, not just Christmas time, because the balance is just right. Not too much glitter, not too sheer, not too dark or light, and certainly not too boring.

Here I used a base of CND Stickey Base with 3 coats of China Glaze Ruby Pumps, topped with Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat to give it a slick, reflective surface. I do recommend at least 3 coats since the extra layering really brings out the glitter particles in the polish and will give it an opaque, slightly jelly finish.

Check out how drop-dead gorgeous the glitter specks are on the polish brush! This brush is not flat or rounded, but I never seem to have any problems with application using China Glaze polishes.

If you are looking for the perfect red to wear to those holiday parties, definitely check out Ruby Pumps over other sparkly reds. Others just don't compare to the depth this beautiful polish has! It's my #1 recommendation this season! :)

What's your favorite red nail polish? What's your favorite shade to wear during the holidays? Let me know in the comments!

xoxo

  3. Oooh thanks for reviewing China Glaze Ruby Pumps.. have been eyeing it for a while, but not taken the plunge to buy it.

I am wearing OPI DS Indulgence right now, with Konad (or rather fauxnad since my plates come from Born Pretty Store) stamping using China Glaze Passion (from their 2009 Romantique chrome collection), a warm gold, and plate m73 (the flower design). Loving the oriental royal brocade look! <3

  5. Hmmm, my favourite red so far is vodka and caviar by OPI but I love wearing sparkly shades like the one you're wearing as well as Glitzerland and You only live twice, both by OPI! :) Dark shades are a favourite in the winter as well, especially Black Cherry Chutney!

  6. Gorgeous! My personal favorite shade to wear on the holidays is OPI's Speak For Your Elf! It's this pretty jelly-red shade that's kind of similar to the China Glaze Ruby Pumps, but I like to apply three coats to make the red a little darker. :)

  8. The glittery red looks amazing on your skin tone! Mine's a tad darker (I'm a NC30-35), but I think I'll look just as good! Thanks for the rec, chica!

  14. By the way Jen,

I was wondering if you ever did a tutorial on how to apply eyeliner on the upper and lower lid or reviews on eyeliner itself. I've been having a hard time every time to look for the right non-smudge eyeliner. I just want an eyeliner that doesn't smudge (long lasting for typical day work) and that look not too aggressive when I wear it. If you already did one, I would love to watch it, but so far I haven't found one on your website. Thank you Jen for all your reviews!!

  19. i love this!!! My cousin gave one to me last christmas and the colour was AH-mazing! But for some unknown reason the glitter in the polish all faded after a few months, leaving behind a yucky mess of red TT_TT
