Movin' from Google Reader to Bloglovin'
9:00 AMHey everyone! Today is going to be a blog readers' announcement & helpful tutorial. Google recently announced that they will be getting rid of their blog reading program Google Reader on July 1st, which means that everyone reading this blog using Google Reader will sadly no longer be able to. If this sounds like mumbo-jumbo to you, then let me introduce you to the wonderful world of RSS Feeds!
An RSS feed is basically like a blog's content updated in real time. A "reader" helps you to read all of the RSS feeds you subscribe to. If you read a lot of blogs, it can be easier to go to one place to read all of your feeds so you don't need to click on each blog separately to check for updates. It's like reading all your favorite blog updates in one cohesive blog, which makes blog reading so much easier!
This is the symbol for an RSS feed
To bring it back to the topic at hand, a couple years ago I discovered a reader called Bloglovin' which is actually catered toward fashion and beauty blogs. It's now my main site used for following the eleventy-billion blogs I follow, organized by category, and I don't even know what I did before using it. I have a feeling you guys might like using it too, so consider this a PSA. ;)
Obviously I don't want to leave my Google Reader subscribers stranded so I wanted to share how to migrate your Reader subscriptions from Google to Bloglovin' before the inevitable crash and burn on July 1st.
First step, click here:
http://www.bloglovin.com/import/reader
On that page, click on "Import from Google Reader":
That should save a lot of pain from importing each blog manually and prevent your RSS feeds from disappearing.
For those of you who aren't already using a reader and would like to follow on Bloglovin' just click this button below.
Hopefully this was helpful!
Readers, how do you follow From Head To Toe? Bookmarks? RSS feeds? A blog reader? Let me know in the comments!

I use Feedly (feedly.com) myself! It has a really minimal, nicely designed interface that is easy on the eyes.
ReplyDeleteMore importantly it lets you log in using your google account, and just sets up all your blog subscriptions and lists automatically! <3

Thanks so much, Jen! I was wondering what would happen on July 1st. Now I can continue to follow you with no problem!
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny that you made a post on this! I was just thinking of how I'm gonna find a new feed reader now that google reader is closing. Very helpful! thanks. (:
ReplyDeleteBeen using feedly since Google announced the closing down of Reader. I love feedly because it's aesthetically pleasing and very customizable!
ReplyDeleteWow I wasn't even aware Google Reader was closing - thanks for the heads up! I guess I'll have to start using Bloglovin'...
ReplyDeleteYou should post a list of all the beauty blogs you follow!
ReplyDeleteHi, Jen. My English isn't good so i hope you will understand what I say. I have single eyelids and when I use liner, it like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYRyVQOGWns, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-TnaKCOjRQ
ReplyDeleteI hate my eyes. What should I do??? Help me, please!!! :(((((((((
Don't do it so big! :O
DeleteYou won't be able to see it as much when you open your eyes, but it's still better than having too much (like in the videos)! :D
I can't use eyeliner??? But I like it so much~~~~~~~ :'(
DeleteI like how pretty Bloglovin' is, but IIRC, it didn't transfer my folders or saved articles from my Google Reader. The latter was a deal breaker for me, so I went with Feedly. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this! Super helpful, and now I can keep following you :)
ReplyDeleteI've been using Feedly, and it's been kind of hit and miss. It has a lot of cool features and I like the layout, but while I haven't had a problem with yours, some blogs' posts show up picture-less. :(
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen~! This is so useful~! I was thinking what I should do since July 1st is coming but I've been following many blogs already. It would be a hassle for me to note down all the links. Bloglovin' is so fast and easy since it can import from my Google reader. Thanks so much!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't mind me asking, but how much did it cost to have your blog designed? thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this. I was in the middle of adding all my blogs in blog lovin and I was frustrated that I should do this but your post helped me a lot.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I will forever follow you!
ReplyDeleteI recently did the migration as well. I have you followed on Bloglovin' and Google reader ^__^ And pretty much anywhere else we can follow you! *no creepiness intended* lol
ReplyDeletehi Jen,
ReplyDeleteI just don't know where to post my request on your page. So I drop a few lines here, hope you don't mind. I've been having problems with makeup that cannot last for a long time. I even used a lot of branded expensive stuff but still none of them worked on me by far. Especially eyeliner, at the end of a day it looks so funny that I have Panda eyes. Can you please do a tutorial to show how to do a long lasting makeup or is there any makeup tips you have regarding this?
Thanks Jen,
Thank you ;) I have had the problem and have just switched to bloglovin as well :-)
