REVIEW & SWATCHES: Urban Decay NAKED Lipgloss
9:00 AM
Hey everyone! Today I wanted to share a brand new product with you from Urban Decay. For part of their Spring launches, they have just released 9 lipglosses which are beautifully packaged and suited for all ranges of the "naked" everyday lip. Um, hello, everyday glosses? Count me in please!
Let's check out the full range below!
So the down-low on these new Urban Decay Naked glosses is that they are super-nourishing, with Vitamin E, avocado oil, and shea butter to hydrate lips. They come with my favorite type of applicator, the doe foot, which is made special by having an extra long shape to evenly apply a generous swath of gloss.
You can see that the 9 shades below range from a pale nudey-pink to sheer berries, mainly concentrating on a range of wearable colors.
Below: Walk of Shame / Nooner / Naked / Lovechild / Liar / Streak / Beso / Rule34 / Freestyle
Walk of Shame / Nooner / Naked
Walk of Shame: pale nude-pink with subtle micro-shimmer
Nooner: light neutral nude
Naked: nude-pink with pearly pink shift
Lovechild / Liar / Streak
Lovechild: medium pink
Liar: soft mauve-pink
Streak: coral-peach
Beso / Rule34 / Freestyle
Beso: deep pink-mauve
Rule34: medium brown-nude
Freestyle: brown-nude with subtle micro-shimmer
Being the huge MLBB (my lips but better) fan I am, you know I was super excited about these glosses! In terms of my own medium, yellow-undertoned skin coloring, Naked is a nice everyday color to enhance my own lips but it's very sheer and I'm definitely looking forward to trying out bolder shades like Lovechild (brighter pink), Streak (coral) and Beso (berry).
As far as glosses go, these are on the less sticky side and do feel quite hydrating on the lips while on. This also means that they don't last quite as long as their stickier counterparts (these go maybe 3-4 hours before losing their "gloss"), but since we are in the natural spectrum of makeup, I'm not sure long-lasting is as huge a priority. I might just be crazy but I also detect a hint of mintiness as well. The product seems to be unscented but I do get a slight, weird mint-product-chemical whiff which doesn't last when applied. Not the best scent but I'm glad it's not heavily perfumed or sickly sweet.
Urban Decay Naked lipgloss is available now for $20 at Sephora, Macy's, and everywhere else Urban Decay is sold.
Readers, will you be picking up one of the new Naked glosses? Which color are you most interested in? Let me know in the comments!

Ooh I didn't even know these were even coming out and I think they match the NAKED 3 quite well (all rose and warmer tones and such). I didn't pick up the NAKED 3 since I don't really ever wear eyeshadow ((even though the palette is frikkin gorgeous!) so this would be a good way for me to embrace this new "NAKED' phase of the line, lolz. I'm actually really loving the ones with shimmer like Walk of Shame, Naked and I'm really loving the shimmer in Freestyle. Thanks for the swatches! Could you possssiblyyy do a post with swatches on the lips?! Sometimes it's hard to imagine how to see how the glosses would look on the lips and be completely different than what you'd expect--if you could that'd be awesome-sauce.

Yes I agree with kfc can we please get a video/pictures of them swatched on your lips like how you did the MLBB video, it really helps! I'm an NC20 at Mac, so looking at how colours show up on your skin pretty much tells me how they will look on me. It's incredibly helpful! This is my favourite beauty blog by the way Jen. Thank you! =)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love the packaging of these glosses. They look luxurious for something that seems to be so simple, like a nude gloss. I'm sure they will look great standing next to the UD lipsticks. I am more interested in the more pigmented three among the other ones--Lovechild / Liar / Streak. They seem to provide a nice gloss of color without making a statement about it.
ReplyDeleteI see a few colors i really like. Sadly i cannot get Urban Decay in The Netherlands :(

omg we need these in the UK!

I won't be picking up any of them. I think it's ridiculous, $20 for sheer lipgloss that all nearly look the same on the lips.

They all look so perfect and gorgeous! Smart of urban decay to expand the naked line beyond eye makeup :P

I really like Walk of Shame and Lovechild. May have to pick these up because I am getting more and more obsessed with UD Naked line!
ReplyDeleteI find these REALLY similar to NYX's butter glosses, especially the non-shimmery shades. Also, they look like they apply very similarly. I think I'll stick with the butter glosses, which are $5 and a small fraction of what these cost ($20).
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried those yet! Definitely need to check them out next. Let me know if you have shade recommendations! :D
DeleteI love the shades Vanilla Cream Pie, Apple Strudel, and Peach Cobbler. NYX just came out with some new darker shades that I can't wait to try also. I tend to gravitate towards peachy or orange-y shades, so Apple Strudel and Peach Cobbler are my favorites right now! They all smell WONDERFUL by the way.
Delete"Love Child" looks really pretty..can't wait to try these. Thanks for the swatches :)
ReplyDeleteAlways love your swatches 'cause I think we have a similar skintone :) Can't wait to try out nooner, naked, liar, and streak!

Oh my. Just mention the words "nude" and "lip product" and you've got me running to my nearest counter. I can't wait for these to release!

These look really nice! Thanks for the swatches! I think I'd be most interested in Liar and Streak but I also think that Nooner, Walk of Shame and Naked are pretty! I saw a comment above mentioning the new NYX Butter glosses and balms, those look really awesome too! I'll probably test those out before dropping the chunks of change that UD's glosses will cost. ^__^b
ReplyDeleteI'm not so much of a big fan of lipglosses, but good thing these are not sticky! :)
ReplyDeleteThese pictures and swatches are beautiful! You did a great job on this post. I love these shades and they look really nice.

ReplyDeleteHi Jen! This is unrelated, but can you write a post or make a video about how to take good pictures of your makeup (on your face and just the products in general)? You always look so great in your pictures and the makeup always appears so vibrant. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI like all the ones that don't have shimmer!
