Urban Decay Naked Palette Video Tutorial

6:51 PM

Hey everyone! I feel like it's been a bajllion years since my last update although it's only been one week. Well, I had an excellent break at the lake and it was great to finally have a really relaxing time with my only obligations being reading all of the huge September issues of fashion magazines and taking midday naps while laying out on the dock. My worst problems were wondering if my sunscreen washed off and being sore from jetskiing so much. I'm not gonna lie, I can't wait to go back!

I'll do a small update on all that in a few days but today I wanted to do a good, meaty update since it's been so long since my last post. I've gotten tons of requests to do a look using the Urban Decay Naked Palette which I was totally obliged to do considering I've been using it nearly every day since I bought it.

You'll have to forgive my GINORMOUS zits because it was that "time of the month" which I added in the video because I'm a classy lady like that. No matter. I wore this look to church and I'm pretty sure God isn't as offended as mere humans at the sight of hormonal growths on chins. ;)

Products mentioned:

Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream #23

Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in Whiskey (included in Naked palette)
MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler

Shisem Eyelash in XOG "teuk"
LashGrip waterproof eyelash adhesive in Dark
MAC Blot Powder in Medium Dark
Lioele Artist Auto Eyebrow in Black
Rock & Republic Pressed Contrived Blush in Call Me
Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Airy Fairy

And of course, the look in a few photos. Can I just rave for a minute on how much I LOVE this lipstick? Rimmel Lasting Finish is my new favorite drugstore lipstick for sure. I've been wearing Airy Fairy as an everyday staple as well. It's the perfect warm pink with just a hint of golden sheen.

The eyelids now with nifty shading action™!

I'm also wearing my most favorite Pins & Needles eyelet dress from Urban Outfitters which is now on sale online here. The 0 fits me perfectly even though it's strapless! I also  my silver lamb necklace. ^.^

Also, Eyeko Rain polish on my nails. It's a nice dusty blue/grey.

I think that's about it! I hope this tutorial was helpful for some of you lucky ladies that managed to snag one of the PERMANENT Naked palettes. Yup, permanent and still that crazy-hard to get ahold of. That reminds me, I'm pretty sure UD is going to be on Hautelook tomorrow. Probably won't be likely to have the Naked Palette already but it's worth a shot, no? (Nobody is obligated to sign up with my invite, but if you do need one you can sign up to join Hautelook here. :)

Everyone have a nice middle-of-the-week!

  1. Thank you for the pictures and the video. Your UD Makeup is so pretty. I was lucky enough to have been able to walk into Sephora and find that it was in stock a few weeks ago. I went back to see if I could get another palette for someone but alas, it was gone.

  5. Umm...what breakouts?? I'm squinting at the screen now and see none...you are too funny.

I love the colors in this smokey eye and will have to try and recreate with my cheap Stila alternative from Hautelook...whenever that arrives.

Love seeing the eyelet dress in action finally, and can't wait to see the Chanel now that it's arrived too!!

  15. Ooh, pretty look! I just got the palette the other day and I'm quite the amateur so I'm glad you made a tutorial using it. I'm not sure if you posted it somewhere already, but what brushes did you use? The one you used to put on the gel liner looks so easy to use.

  19. love this tutorial! just had one question, though...to get double eyelids, did you glue your false lashes to the skin higher than your lashline? or do you glue them like normal, and it just works out that way for you?
thanks Jen, love everything you do!

  28. The reason why I love your videos is because most of the looks you do is never over the top and is just perfect. Even this kind of smoky eye look can work for both day and night. UD makes fabulous eyeshadows, and the naked palette is no exception. If anyone out there is still on the fence about it, I would also recommend this set!

And... no need to apologize for breakouts. Even so, your face/complexion is the perfect canvas for creating many different looks!

  35. Hey Jen!

First of all I have to say I've become a huge fan! Your works are so inspiring, and your tutorials are the only ones I can ever watch (some makeup gurus just ain't real if you know what I mean...)!

Anyways, I've managed to lay my hands on the palette and I can't wait to try this look! I do have a question though: why do you layer MAC Blacktrack over UB Whisky? I started using eyeliner very recently (having previously believed that people with monolids shouldn't even try), so I am only OK at using a pencil eyeliner. I haven't tapped into falsies yet either. I'm just wondering what differences it would make to layer a gel liner over a pencil one (before I decide to splurge out on MAC. That stuff is even more expensive here in Europe).

Thanks so much in advance! I'll keep following your blog!

    Sunny xx

  38. Do you think that by wearing false lashes your crease will become more defined? It totally looked like you had double eyelid tape on in this video! :D

  39. Hi Jen! I really like this tutorial and I have very happy that my friend told me about your blog. I was wondering if the Lioele Artist Auto Eyebrow in gray black is the same one that you used? I can't seem to find this product in black. Thanks so much!
