2NE1 "Clap Your Hands" 박수쳐 Sandara Inspired Tutorial

11:22 AM

Hello everyone! Today's look was another highly requested Kpop-inspired video look, once again from 2NE1's Dara. I'm not sure why I get so many requests to do Park Sandara's makeup but I think it's because people can see a resemblance, or they can see that I can "pull off" a look if she can...

What do you think?

This tutorial is based of their new music video, "Clap Your Hands" which I've been fairly well obsessed with lately. The song is catchy and the looks in the video are so fun to watch. ^_^

Here is the original video if you haven't seen it yet:

And here is my take on the look. Talking this time, and no music so you international peeps can see it too:

Products used:

Skin79 Hot Pink BB Cream
MAC Blot Powder in Medium Dark
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Urban Decay Naked Palette (Virgin, Buck)
Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil in Zero
Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner
NYX Single Eyeshadow in Black
Pretty & Cute Korean High Fiber Lashes #38
Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus Mascara
Stila Bronzing Powder 01
NYX Lip Pencil in Plush Red
NYX Round Lipstick in Snow White
Lioele Auto Artist Brow (Just used the spoolie end)

Screencaps I took of Dara in 2ne1's "Clap Your Hands"

And my take on the look in photos:

My reference pics. I always print a few to help guide my look while recording. ^_^

Close-up of the look. It actually really reminds me of pin-up style makeup except the eyeliner is more edgy, and actually my eyeliner is less intense than Dara's! Also, NYX Snow White is my favorite red lipstick. The deep, saturated red really fit the look this time too. The key point is having a perfectly precise edge by using lip liner first + a lip brush.

Trying (and failing) at doing Sandara-like poses. XD

I know this is totally not like the video, but I find this makeup rather sexy! This is my attempt (fail again) at a "sexy face". LOL!

Ok, this is more like me. Pouts and smiles. Hehe.

Anyway, I hope you really enjoyed this look! I had a blast doing it and it's actually one of my very favorite inspired looks so far. I do the cray cray looks for fun, but somehow I am more pleased when I still look like myself in the end. I think my Sandara looks somehow bring me that satisfaction, even while they are intense. ^_^

Let me know what you think in the comments, and should you get the hankering to try it out (or any other look) I would LOVE it if you posted the photos to my Facebook Fan Page. I reached the limit for adding friends to my Facebook profile page :( so if you were waiting for friend request approval, "like" the fan page instead and I'll try to be much more communicative on there than I was before. <3

P.S. Check out my girl Jackie Chu's version of Park Bom's makeup from Clap Your Hands! Eeek, she is so hot! Love, love love. <3

Kisses, blessings, and love~

  12. You got it exactly right, the pin up style is what your makeup reminded me of! Thanks for the tip on using a lip brush to clean the edges off, much less of a pain to apply the entire thing with a brush.

  19. Oh my God. Sandara is popular here in the Philippines. She won a Filipino Big Brother contest here. Then she went back to Korea. We were sad but I can see she's now a part of a popular group in Korea. Their song is popular here too. Great look!

  20. I seriously cannot tell which one is Dara and which one is you. I went back and forth many times on the video and your descriptions of what is what, and I'm still staring at the photos quizzically. I seriously think you are the one in the video. Twins, literally!

    You look beautiful!

  21. i love the look! but i dont think you guys look alike. she has a smaller more delicate petite looking face :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. You and her DONT look alike at all! She is more smaller looking and cute! While you are super cute but have a wider face then her!
And her lips are more petite while your lips are bigger and more gushy!

  28. LOVE IT!! Right in time for Fall!! (it's starting next week, eeeeek!) Red lips are the in thing for fall apparently.. Anywho, you pulled it off very well. I think your version with less intense eyeliner is better for everyday wear or to a cocktail party type thing. The more intense eyeliner would be more suitable for a night out on the town methinks. Either way, i'm going to try it. Your tutorials have always been easy to follow :)

  29. p.s. your "sexy face" is actually quite ggangpae!! is that right? gangster? heehee

  30. You have perfect pouty lips to pull off that red lip color. I have full lips so I find that I look ridiculous when I try that kind of color lol.

I love it when you do Kpop looks, and you always amaze me how much you resemble Dara. Thanks for sharing! ^^

  37. I loved the vid!! :) I saw it at work today but I waited to go home so I can turn the volume on :p haha You are always so quirky and sweet. I love how you apply the makeup so flawlessly!! I always feel like it's so hard for me to apply eyeliner on my top lids because my eyes are small.

And you pulled off the look incredibly. I'd say you did a better job :D

  49. thanks a lot for this tutorial! you look absolutely gorgeous! very much like dara's "clap your hands" look! bravo!

i do have a question though. why did you line your liquid liner on top of the pencil liner? does it make the all-over effect more dramatic? or does it add to the makeup's staying power? sorry if i sound like a total noob, but you've inspired me to use this look on an event i'm attending this weekend :)

Where can I get my hands on the Makeup Show brushes you were using? They looked like awesome quality!

  54. Cindy: Yes I plan on doing a video tutorial on applying false lashes in the future :)

Cherry: I don't use anything special with lip balms, just whatever I have around, but the trick is to exfoliate your lips before you apply creamy lipsticks to get rid of flakes. Exfoliate with sugar + honey, then lip balm, then lipstick.

Yen: Lining in pencil first helps my liquid liner not to flake and it fills in spaces that are hard to get with liquid alone, like between lashes and on the water line so it gives the look more depth. :)

Joyce: You can get makeupshow brushes at http://mus.7bella.com/ The variety of small brushes are really nice! Larger ones shed but they are dense and soft.

  59. Hi Jen,

Sorry for the somewhat non-related comment, but I just read one of the related posts on false lashes and am wondering if you could do a tutorial on how you clean your false lashes. I am having a lot of problemss keeping my falsies reusable, and it's costing me a lot of $$.

    Thanks :)

  60. love love it!! i seriously thought the second pic was you!!! wow!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Hi Jen- The makeup look so fantastic on you! Very good job. I'm so jealous that you're able to wear red lipstick without looking like complete clown. I can't quite figure out how to wear red lipstick and pull it off. My skin is very (VERY) pale, with warm undertones, and I haven't quite been able to figure out how to make red lips work for me. I'm hoping that in the future, you will create a post dedicated to showing us how to find the perfect shade of lipstick for our complexion, and then how to apply it wilthout looking like a hooker or clown. This is something I'd loooove to learn.

  62. I just noticed after watching 2ne1's clap your hands mv that sandara's lipstick is darker than the shade u used in your tutorial. can you recommend something similar to what dara used there. thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. you look so much like Dara! Woohoohoo love all your makeups !:D

  64. Hey Jen!

HUGE fan here! Your website and tutorials have been my major inspiration! I'm originally from Taiwan but I live in Belgium now, which means laying my hands on the good stuff you talk about could be difficult, but I try my best!

My friend showed me this music video of a Korean pop group: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9vT8jwD2HA&feature=related
I really like the makeup of the short-haired girl in it (dunno her name, sorry). It reminds me of some K-pop inspired looks but seems a lot more wearable. It would be very nice if you could one day come up with a tutorial so that us monolid girls have one more nice look to try!

    Lots of love,

    Sunny xx

  66. u look like her! hahaha!!! wow u r darn pretty...

    ReplyDelete
  67. True, you really look like her, that's the main reason why people keep on asking you to have Sandara's make up. You may also try color contacts that Sandara is wearing to perfectly get her looks.

    ReplyDelete
  68. When I first saw you, I thought you were Sandara. You are both pretty. You nailed it girl.
