July Favorites!

10:11 PM

Happy August everyone! Can I just say that I'm a bit fearful for this month? August is usually the hottest month out of the year here in the midwest and last month was really ridiculous... most days were over 100 F and we actually hit a record high of 110+ 3 days ago. :[

On the good side, I had a lot of great new products I tried out this month! Applied in air conditioning! Yay!

Products mentioned:

Cure Natural Aqua Gel (also directly from the company here)
Lioele Aroma Waterproof Lip & Eye Remover
Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo
NYX HD Studio Griding Blush in Ménage à Trois
Urban Decay Lipstick in Naked
Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliners in Bobby Dazzle and Eldorado
FAIRYDROPS Waterproof Scandal Queen Mascara (non-wp here and review here)
FAIRYDROPS Candybar BB Cream in Ocher
Sigma Round Top Kabuki F82 (you can also browse through my referral here)

As you can see, I was pretty happy with most of the Asian products I tested this month. I've heard so many good things about the Cure Aqua Gel in particular and it totally lived up to the hype. I literally put it on again last night and my skin felt sooo soft this morning. :D

I do want to write out what the sticker label in English said since it's very informative:

Cure Natural Aqua Gel
No fragrance, No colouring, No Preservatives
Made of 91% Activated Hydrogen Water
Gently remove layers of dry, dead or rough skin.
Suitable for all skin types.
(Rinse type)
Directions for use:
1. Wash face thoroughly and towel dry well.
2. Pump nozzle 3 to 5 times to obtain an appropriate amount of gel on your hand. (I found I only needed 1 or 2.) Apply gel to face, neck, or other areas that are dry and rough. Applying gel to only part of your face is also effective.
3. Gently massage your face in a circular motion till the gel turns white (do not rub skin too hard) Rinse well after you have removed the dead skin.
4. After rinsing, continue with your regular skincare regimen with use of lotion or skin cream.
5. For best results, use Cure Natural Aqua Gel twice a week.

There are also cautions listed to not apply on problem areas with rashes or irritation and to use within 1 year of opening the bottle, probably since there are no preservatives.

I also want to mention that I will be doing a full blog post on the Urban Decay 24/7 waterproof liquid eyeliners with swatches of all the colors very soon. :)

As for the Waterproof FAIRYDROPS mascara, I did see it online at Sephora last week but it has since disappeared. I know they do plan on carrying it soon though, so I will keep you guys updated and try to find out exactly when that will be.

This image is of FAIRYDROPS Platinum Waterproof mascara which has the same packaging and I think it's the same product under a different name for Asia, so if you want it now then try this version out! I spotted it on Pinky Paradise here and I know it was on Sasa but I don't see it there anymore. Feel free to leave in the comments where else to find it.

Hope you enjoyed watching this month's favorites! For August I plan on going to the drugstore and loading up on some more readily available makeup, so if you have any good recommendations for something to include in a highly-requested drugstore look, please let me know in the comments!

For the record I never choose items in a monthly review based on if I got it from a company or not (I simply grab what I honestly tried that month right before filming), but I do feel like I should do one just for you guys since I know it's not easy to find some of the Asian products or higher-end products that I talk about.

Readers, please let me know your recommendations of drugstore items for next month's video! ^_~

  4. Hello, I've been reading your blog lately which I like a lot. I was wondering if you've tested the Klorane dry shampoo? I've heard it's a good product but I wanted to have your feedback on this if ever you know sth about it.
    Thanks in advance ;)

  5. Awww, I've been waiting for you to post this blog post ever since you uploaded the video because I wanted the link to where to buy the fairydrops waterproof mascara. I need that mascara so badly!! Is the platinum one definitely as good as scandal queen? I'm on a super budget right now and don't want to splurge unless its worth it.

  7. I'm about to blacklist and stop watching any videos where you recommend products or your monthly favourites. Last month, you told me not to lose hope if I want to get the UD 15th anniversary palette and there, I didn't lose hope and got it once it was available on Sephora because your reviews are alwayyys so honest XD Now, I want to get everything you suggest in this video, but can't because I will ruin myself. Ah... Jen.

  9. Some drugstore favorites:

*Milani baked blush (I love Corallina)

    *Maybelline gel eyeliner

*Revlon colorbust lipstick (I love Coral, which is a bright orange-red)

*WetnWild eyeshadow (esp the Comfort Zone 8-pan, and Silent Treatment 3-pan)

    *Milani liquif'eye eyeliner (it's a UD 24/7 dupe)

    *Maybelline the falsies mascara

  10. Oh yes, I've heard good things about the Milani baked blushes so I would love to see that in action. Luminoso and Dolce Pink are the colors I'm interested in.

  11. Also, L'Oreal Le Gloss in Golden Splash and Peach Fuzz. The colors look really vibrant and they don't seem to be too sheer so it looks like you can get some good color payoff. They also don't seem to be too sticky but I've only ever swatched at the store and haven't tried them on my lips. Thank you!

  13. You have me interested in that face gel! I just bought my face cleanser, so it will have to wait! I would love to get an update after you have used it for a month!

Are you still using the Josie Maran Argan Oil? If so, how is it working for you? I have stopped using mine for about a week now. I developed a horrible zone of cysts on my left jawline. Not sure if the oil caused it or not..or maybe just me putting too much on. :/ I despise cysts...they are so painful! :(

  15. I would love if you would focus on some natural drugstore products for next month! Please please!

  16. Maybelline's Eye Studio Gel Eyeliner: long wear, no smudging, and the brush that it comes with actually works! Comparable to the MAC fluidline and Bobbi Brown's gel liner, but it's like $8.

  17. Drugstore recommendation: I'm currently in love with Revlon Matte in In the Red.

  18. Hi Jen,

For some HG drugstore makeup suggestions, I really like the Revlon Colorstay foundation in 180 Sand Beige. I've actually been mixing it with my Skin79 hot pink bb cream and it's a great combination. Also NYC's Color Wheel Mosaic Face Powder in 'Pink Cheek Flow' is a great blush with different shades of pink. And for lips, Revlon Colorburst Lipsticks are great and moisturizing. Oh, and I'm not sure if this counts but Neutrogena's makeup remover towelettes (both the regular blue and night calming purple packs work well) are SO good at removing makeup, and waterproof mascara - really quick and easy.

  19. Can you please do a tutorial using the Urban Decay 15th Anniversary palette?

  20. Oooh I will be all over the Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliners!! Thanks for the review :)

As for drugstore items, I like the following:

    - Maybelline The Falsies waterproof mascara in Very Black

    - Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick in 140 Dreamy

    - Revlon Colorburst lipstick in 075 Peach

    - L'oreal Lineur Intense: I used this eyeliner while I had eyelash extensions because it's oil-free, and was impressed with how well it went on and didn't move throughout the day. I stopped doing extensions since then and am back to my Mac Liquidlast liner.

    - Neutrogena oil-free makeup remover/your recommendation for the best drugstore eye makeup remover

  22. Drugstore favorites:
    Maybelline Superstay Foundation
Boots #7 Intelligent Balance Mousse Foundation (Only at Target)
    Maybelline Chai Latte Quad
    ELF Complexion Perfection

  23. Most DEFINITELY Revlon's ColorStay foundation. Here's a bit of a tip though, if you have combo skin, you should try the Dry skin formula. I have combo skin and I find the Combo skin formula makes me oily half-way through the day. The dry skin one doesn't though. I google'd it and some people online agree. Also ELF's contour palette (comes with a blush and a contour color) is awesome!!!

  24. can you do tutorials on the following?
    - makeup organization. i have tons of stuff, but can't find anything when i'm in a hurry and end up just using the same few items. do you use clear boxes, baskets, shelves?

    - how to wash makeup brushes. and tips to dry them properly.

    thanks!
