Sephora V.I.B. 15% Off Haul

4:02 PM

Hey everyone! So a couple of weeks ago I was browsing the Sephora sale section, as ya do, and came across some lovely train cases that were on sale. I have been keeping my eyes open for a nice basic train case for a while so I decided to make an small order.

Little did I know that evil Sephora had planned a 15% off VIB coupon to be sent out only a week later! Needless to say, I decided to do a double order and wanted to share with all of you what I decided to purchase. (It may include some paper, plastic, and even a laser gun. Bwahahaha...)

Video, a full list of products, and what's on my nails below!

PRODUCTS MENTIONED:

Sephora Metro Train Case - Pink (also silver)
Sephora Metro Train Case - Midnight
PAPERSELF Deer & Butterfly Eyelashes
PAPERSELF Peacock Eyelashes (also gorgeous Peach Blossom & Under the Sea)
Silk'n Flash&Go Permanent Hair Removal Device
Sephora Collection Powder Jar with Sifter
Rock & Republic Contrived Pressed Blush in Foreplay (only X-Rated is left)
Rock & Republic Contrived Pressed Blush in Tease

ON ME:

Steve & Barry's Denim Jacket (similar/similar/similar)
Target Purple Gingham shirt (similar/similar/similar or try this J.Crew boy's version)
Delia's Ribbon & Chain Necklace (similar/similar/love the weave of this one)
Urban Decay Super Saturated Lip Color in Lovechild
Nails are ombré painted (CND Indian Rhubarb, Revlon Mon Cherry, Revlon Plum Baby, Essie Chastity, Orly Kiss The Bride)

So firstly, I wanted to talk about the big splurge purchase that I used the 15% off coupon mainly for which is the Silk'n Flash&Go.

I want to do a longer review on this once I test it out for a couple months but here is a stock photo so you get an idea of what it looks like. It's a handheld HPL ("Home Pulsed Light" versus IPL or "Intense Pulsed Light" which is the professional treatment) device that comes with a light cartridge attached and one extra cartridge in the box for $299 at Sephora. It's pricey, but I noticed it was also selling at Nordstrom for $349 so all in all, not a bad deal with the extra 15% off code.

Again, I'll do a longer review when I get comfortable with the device and see if it actually works or not! So far, I've only used it once since treatments are spaced 2 weeks apart. Fingers crossed it's a cheaper alternative to professional hair removal!

I also wanted to show you my nails that you may have noticed in the video. It was really difficult to find exactly the right step in shades to do a perfect ombré manicure but I think it turned out pretty well. I stuck with creme finish polishes since shimmers can be distracting when you want a smooth gradient of color.

From L to R:
CND Indian Rhubarb / Revlon Mon Cherry / Revlon Plum Baby / Essie Chastity / Orly Kiss The Bride

I hope you enjoyed the haul! Let me know in the comments what you think about the ombré manicure trend, if you've tried any type of pulsed light hair removal, and PLEASE let me know which train case I should keep! Pink or black? Black or pink?

Have a great weekend! xoxo

  1. Oh Jen, both colours are nice, but I will say keep the black one as it will be easier to keep clean (i'm thinking more fingerprint marks and scratches) and black just looks classy!

However, maybe because of the colour, does the black look smaller than then pink?

BTW, I noticed that you are really into glitter polishes, have you by ay chance tried out the Lydnrella polishes? What do you think of them?

    1. The two train cases are exactly the same size but I think darker colors tend to look smaller. :) I haven't tried Lynderella but I'll have to look into that!

  3. Hey Jen, love your videos! I have to go to an event that is business formal but I don't want to look to boring, do you have any suggestions as to what I should wear? I'm 22 btw :)

I like both colors, but personally, I think I would keep the black.

    1. A basic black skirt suit with a jewel-toned or pretty blouse (I have a mint green sequin one that would look nice against black) would be chic and a little different, but still formal. You can always accessorize with a nice necklace too.

  4. Oh I love the pink train case! I was thinking of getting one, but wasn't sure how big they would be in person since I only had the stock photos to go by. It looks like they're pretty generously sized though.

  5. I think you should keep the black one! And PLEASE do a review on the Flash & Go! =3

The ombre mani looks really cute on you! I may try it...trying to decide if I want to even follow the ombre trend or not.

  6. I would keep the black one. It looks so classy and with things like that which you want to keep for a long time you never know if you might get fed up with pink over the time.

  7. <3 I was going to ask about your nails but I'm glad I popped on ur blog to see if you wrote about it first :) I'm not sure I've got enough colours similar enough for an ombre effect but I'm gonna check my collection out first. I think you should keep the black case! The detailling makes it look very classy.

Waiting for your giveaway now <3 hope it's available to canadians :)

  15. The pink one is so sweet and cute, but the black one is more professional and easier to clean and match probably to everything.
The black one is for me better idea.

  19. Ahh, I used the 15% off to get the Flash & Go as well. However, for those that are looking for something slightly cheaper, remington came out with an i-LIGHT hair removal system that is $250. Ulta usually has some coupons (the 20% off recently ended, though).

As for the train case, I think the pink is cute and unique!!

  22. Personally I think that the black one would be better, because it looks more "proffesional" and classy than the pink one. The pink one looks sweet though:)
btw. Have you done a make-up tutorial on this eyelook? :) It looks so beautiful! :)

And I think you should keep the black train case as it is more classy and professional and it matches everything! :)

  29. PINK! :) The black is indeed professional but the pink just makes it more fun.

  30. Hi Jen, you should keep the black case! It's more professional and I just think the black on black interior would be pretty classy instead of pink and then black inside! :) I adore the nails & the braided necklace you have on!
Excited for your giveaway, I hear so much good things about those blushes from you!

  31. The pink one is so cute-I don't think that baby pink would ever go out of style!

  32. Black! The pink exudes more of a casual and playful tone, whereas black is more sophisticated. Also, I agree that the black case will go with any kind of outfit and is perfect all year round.

  35. black!!! you're gorgeous. I love your flawless skin wow. Love the nails mixed like that too! xO!

  36. Black! I picked up a black one years ago and when I opened it, it was silver. I was so bummed. But, black for sure because it's timeless...and easier to clean.

  37. the TRIA is better. no cartridges!!!

  38. I was debating between those two colours too when i bought the case but decided to go with the black. It's more professional and classy

    ReplyDelete
  39. I bought the pink, silver, black because I couldn't decide but feel Sephora train case is much better quality/made than most I've seen for much, much less. I decided to keep the pink because somehow it look much more solid (something about the material on the case) than the others. Mind you, I never a pink girl, ever, except for Chanel Pulsion nail polish, I purposely avoid pink :-)

  40. Hi Jen!!

I've looked everywhere for those blushes but they seem to be all sold out now. Except maybe on Amazon (180 dollars) and some on ebay for 75+. Do you have any suggestions for any similar products in color as Tease? (Cause that is a steep price tag for a blush that retails for 40) I read in a few reviews that Nars Mara Hari is close but when I looked at some swatches on a few blogs, they aren't that close.

  41. Hi Jen!

I couldn't find RR blushes anywhere. Seems to be sold out except on like amazon for 189 dollars. What would you suggest is similar to Tease? I read that its close to NARS Mata Hari but reading other blogs and seeing some swatches..seems like its not as close. Any help would be great! Cause 180 for something that retailed at 40...is a little steep. eek!
