REVIEW & SWATCHES: Sigma Creme De Couture Palette
9:00 AMHey everyone! Today I wanted to share a few swatches of an eyeshadow palette that recently came out by Sigma Beauty, the Creme de Couture palette. The first thing I did when I opened this up was squeal at how cute it was! The macaron-inspired theme really shines through both in packaging and in the included eyeshadow shades.
Here are 16 bright-pastel mattes in candy-colored shades ranging from baby pink to deep eggplant to grass green. Each shadow corresponds to a sweet macaron flavor such as "blueberry cream" or "ginger pumpkin". I don't have any all-matte pastels like this in my collection so I was really excited to see if the pigmentation and performance was as nice as the initial presentation.
Redberry Rose / Apricot Flower / Passion Fruit / Cherry Blossom
Meyer Lemon / Ginger Pumpkin / Cafe au Lait / Blueberry Cream
Violet Whip / Lavender Honey / Cassis / Elderberry
Blue Chocolat / Almond Pear / Creme de Menthe / Citron Pistachio
In the swatches you can see that a lot of these shades are nice and vibrant on my skintone, save for the peachier-pink shades on the top row. Cherry Blossom in particular needed a few swipes to get a shade that would show up here. Some of the colors were really beautiful in person like Blueberry Cream and the entire blue-green lineup in the bottom row. Too pretty!
With this being a matte palette I automatically expected a couple shades to be patchy and while I wouldn't say it was patchy, it was not as buttery as Urban Decay mattes and some of them need to be built up for intensity. Also, I wanted to note that the redder and purple shades do leave a pink stain on the skin after swatching so I highly recommend using a base like NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk. This will create a barrier between the skin and shadow and also to really make the shades pop.
Overall, I think Creme de Couture is a super fun palette to have if you are a big fan of bright shadows. I can especially see a lot of great fairy-inspired Halloween looks since it's not everyday you come across a palette so generous in opaque pastels. If interested, you can pick up this palette from sigmabeauty.com for $32. You can also receive 10% off your Sigma purchase using code FALL2013 through the month of October.
Readers, will you be picking up the Creme de Couture palette? Are you a fan of matte or shimmer shadows? Let me know in the comments!

Are these real cream eyeshadows or do they just apply like cream eyeshadows and dry up like powder?

ReplyDeleteHello Jen,
ReplyDeleteThis palette looks really cute and edible, if I might say! I really like the colours but aren't quite sure how I'd wear them, especially since I don't often wear pastels. Could be a great tool for a makeup artist though! Thanks for posting!

ReplyDeleteI really love this palette. The color is so cheerful. I am wondering can you do a tutorial for this palette?
ReplyDeleteI really wish I hadn't missed this palette. If by any chance you choose to sell it, I'm very interested. Can't seem to find it available anywhere, and I don't mind if it's used.
