Shoe Review: JG Shoe Lace-Up Sandals
9:00 AMHey everyone! Today I wanted to share a pair of shoes that I'm currently obsessed with at the moment. These black lace-up heels can add an edgy element to even a simple outfit and I'm a big fan of mixing edgy and girly pieces.
I first saw sandals like these on Wendy which were designed by Schutz. Unfortunately, my Cinderella feet are too small to fit the smallest size available so I commissioned my favorite petite shoe-makers at JGShoe.com to create a similar pair for me and I am totally in love.
Here are a few similar options:
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have already seen them from this casual outfit. I also wore them with my Yumi Kim romper in my New Media Rockstars photoshoot. Not kidding, these sandals are so easy to pair I was surprised!
As you guys may know, I am quite petite and have difficulty finding shoes in styles I like at my size which is just a touch below a women's US size 4. Considering most shoes start in at least a size 5 or 6, it goes without saying that the selection at size 4 is often sparse and expensive. Pumps in a size 4 slip off my heels entirely so I began searching online for a petite-specific shoemaker and stumbled upon JG Shoe.
When I was in South Korea this Summer I actually got the opportunity to visit the JGShoe headquarters (more on that in a vlog coming soon) and talked with the founder about creating custom-designed shoes in my size. After sending a few photos and instructions to create them in a comfortable 8cm (3.15 in) heel, this is what I received in the mail and I've been smitten ever since.
The back of the heel has a zipper which helps the lace-up element to be less of a pain to get in and out of. You may also notice they also came with a bright red sole which I didn't request (don't want to step on the toes of Louboutin lovers out there), but they assured me that it's easily switched out and future orders won't be made red.
If I were to make any changes with the order, I would've gotten this style in a 9cm heel instead since the laces make the shoe very steady and comfortable. In fact, I may reorder this again in nude and do that very change. Overall, I am incredibly happy with the comfort, quality, and look of these shoes and wanted to share in case some of you have small (or large, since they customize in almost any size) feet.
I also wanted to share a coupon code for my readers for 10% off your order at jgshoe.com: frmheadtotoe10. I don't personally get anything from the coupon, it's just something I thought would be special for you guys. Hope it's helpful for those of you struggling with finding custom-sized shoes like me!
Readers, have you had difficulty finding shoes in your size? What is your favorite place to buy shoes? Let me know in the comments!

Do you have an organic line of makeup which you recommend?
ReplyDeleteLook into Red Apple Lipstick - I've been using their products for over a year now and highly recommend them. Everything is paraben, aluminum, gluten, soy, corn, dairy, GMO, and fragrance free. They have eyeshadows and glosses too (soon to have mascara) that are fantastic quality. :)
DeleteThis is more skincare that color makeup, but I've been really happy with the Michael Todd True Organics line! Their cleansers are especially nice. :)
DeleteThose are so cute!!!!!!!!!!

love those shoes!
ReplyDeleteCute! But the coupon code doesn't work :/
ReplyDeleteVery cool shoes! Love it.

I come from a family with extremely small feet and has an aunt whose shoe size is barely a size 3. She gets her shoes from Vincci (a Malaysian brand), whose design isn't too bad and the quality of the shoes I've bought here are quite lasting. I know you're in the US but maybe you can check it out from an online retailer here: http://www.zalora.com.my/vincci/ or
ReplyDeleteI love those shoes except they are so expensive
ReplyDeleteFor a handmade shoe in a custom size, it's the best price I've seen. :) For those of us who have small feet, it's nice to have different style options!
DeleteThat is an amaaaazing outfit+shoe combo!!!! I too love the feminine/bold style because it makes everything much more interesting and fun.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. I saw this on you and I was dying to get one. I check JG shoes but didn't know how to customize it. Thanks for the details post.
ReplyDeleteDo you think these would still be cute as wedges?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! I have another pair of tan strappy wedges that look super cute. ^_~
DeleteFYI: coupon code for 10% is no longer worked. He offered 5% using coupon code : frmheadtotoe. It is expensive but I hope it is worth it.
ReplyDeleteI will talk with them and see if we can get the 10% coupon to work!
DeleteWow, thanks for the tip on JG Shoe!
ReplyDeletei think there's still problems with the frmheadtotoe10 coupon. it's not 10% off. it's more like 4.8% off. the shoe's $135 and after entering the code, it says they're $128.50 instead of $121.50.
ReplyDeleteHi Jen! I have just found the Korean site jgshoe.com and I am very interested in customizing my own shoes to my liking/fitting. I have a couple of questions I would like to ask you about this site if you don't mind. It is a site I can trust that my shoes will be sent to me, right? Also, I'm a size 5 in the US and normally it would be a size 35, but on the site it says 35.5 would be a size US 5. Please help. :) Thank you... by the way, I love these lace-up heels! They are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHi Jen! What size did you order? A size 4 (US) is usually just a tad too big for me as well. Not sure if I should go with the 210mm or 215mm. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy! I ordered a size 210. I probably would wear a size 3.5 if they made them so most size 4 shoes are too big. Hope that helps!
DeleteHi Jen! What is your foot length? Mine is 20.5 so I pick next one, I never ever be able to work with shoes that not fit perfectly so I prefer it as snug as possible. I picked size 210 too howvever jgshoes advised me of size 220. Really appreciate if you could response in time, I will let him know in turn. Btw, I wish I remember you gave your follower the coupon, I already made payment. But code is working at 10% off anyhow. So if the first order goes well, most likely I will order more. Better than spending money on things that don't even fit me well as of now.
ReplyDeleteI just measured and my foot is also around 20.5 so you should try the size 210 unless your foot is wide. My feet are pretty narrow. Hope that helps!
DeleteThank you Jen. I picked size 210 but he convince me on 215. I'm skinny and so are my feet. However I did add an ankle strap in case it doesn't fit. I'd be heart broken if it nnot ;(
DeleteHi Jen,
ReplyDeleteWas wondering whether you can tell me how you tie the string back and how any times it should be circled around the leg? The string is too long not sure whether I should cut it to size. Please advise. Thanks.
I got the same shoe :)
Hi Jen
ReplyDeleteAre you able to tell be how to tell the string at the back? How many times should it be circled around the leg. I'm not sure how to do it as the string is too long. Did you have to cut it to size?
Thanks
