TUTORIAL: Urban Decay Naked 3 Holiday Makeup

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to share with you a makeup tutorial I've been loving lately using the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette (Review & Swatches). Although you could do this look anytime, pairing it with a red lip makes it a perfect rose gold twist on traditional glamorous holiday makeup. Can I use the cliché and say these are a few of my favorite things? Yeah, they totally are.

Check out how to get this look below!

Here you can see that the eyes have a wash of the pale, shimmery pink shade (Dust) which I then contoured with a matte pinky-brown transition color (Limit). The outer corners were then deepened with a blackened brown (Blackheart).

Really, you could do this same process with any eyeshadow palette as long as there is a light shimmery pop on the lid, a matte blending color, and a darker shadow for contour.

For the cheeks I used my current favorite Winter blush shade, Benefit Dallas boxed powder which is similar in effect as my long-time holy grail Tarte Exposed blush. They both are easy to get right and give a natural blush-bronzer hybrid look.

Remember that the lip color you choose can turn this from an everyday pretty eye to a glamorous old Hollywood look!

This pick is my current red obsession, Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss in shade Kiss of Life. I can see this satin-matte ruby red looking amazing on a large range of skintones because it's bold but not eye-searing. It also feels comfortable and cushy on the lips and smells incredible, like a juicy watermelon.

Also, not sure if you noticed my nails but I was wearing Deborah Lippmann's Shake Your Money Maker which is the DL glitter I've gotten the most compliments on by far! Freaking LOVE the holographic gold particles in it! If you want to see better pics you can check out my Manicure Monday post.

I hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial! Please let me know if you try it out and feel free to send me pics on Twitter and Facebook. I would absolutely adore seeing your recreations! :)

Readers, what will be your go-to look this holiday season? What is your favorite lip color right now? Any fun holiday plans? Let me know in the comments below!

  10. Hi jen, it came to my surprise that Benefit Dallas is similar to Tarte Exposed. What do you think about d lasting power? Tarte blush usually can last quite long once put on, what about Dallas? Thanks.

    1. I find them both to last a long time but I've never done a side-by-side comparison. I'll have to do that soon!

  17. Jen! Thank you for making amazing videos as usual! The make up is gorgeous. Having falsies also make the look so much more dynamic. What is your opinion on eyelash extensions and have you tried them before?

    1. Because I'm monolidded, I haven't tried lash extensions since I've seen it done badly, weighing down lashes in front of the eyes. If you have a high enough cease that the lashes don't touch your lids then they can look beautiful!

  25. Hi Jen! Ahh...I'm a sucker for UD. :) Lately I've heard good things about theBalm, particularly with their matte palette (Meet Matt(e) Nude). Would you do some swatches and see what you think of their mattes? Perhaps a comparison to NakedBasics?
