Weirdness, Topcoats, and Konad Coupon Code

So these last few days have been pretty strange. I must have been feeling really stressed out because I keep waking up 4 or 5 times throughout the night, often from nightmares. It's probably because my husband just went through surgery on his toes (ouch!) yesterday morning. He is the one who should be feeling crazy but I really, physically, am. Does this happen to any of you guys? When you are so close to someone that when they are suffering you feel their pain too? I actually woke up crying from a dream at one point last night and I haven't even cried in a long time! >_<

I've also recently been dealing with some photo-stealing issues, to the point where a company cropped out my watermark and then put their own watermark over my picture to use for selling a product. Needless to say, it hurts to feel used that way. I put a lot of hard work into my blog entries and photos and for someone to remove my own identity and claim it as their own like that... One part of me wants to warn everyone not to do business with them but another part of me just wants them to sincerely apologize. They still claim to have done nothing wrong. T.T

I know I usually don't post anything negative on my blog, so I'm really sorry for bringing the tone down here! I will try to cheer up the mood with some photos and news about nails.

First of all, I did finally try my Del Sol color-changing polish in Surfer Girl. I'm glad to say that the color change was noticeable and did happen, but it sadly isn't the most flattering shade of orange on my tan skin. It would be so cute on someone fairer than me! I think I'll put it up for sale. Please let me know if you'd be interested. :)

Suuuuuuuuper cute pale pink before the color change.

Pale orange is a little too close to my skintone. :(

I also happened to win the Zoya Colorlock System from Zoya's Twitter giveaway not long ago, and I was super excited to try it out. I'll probably go more in-depth into the whole kit later, but I did a quickie test with Seche Vite vs. Zoya Colorlock using Zoya's Zara polish.

Here is Seche Vite after application. I used Seche Clear base coat, Zara, then Seche Vite top coat. Smooth and shiny, and dries crazy fast which I need to prevent dents! Seche does tend to be goopy and thick during application so you do need to learn how to apply it right.

Here is Zoya's Colorlock system. Sticky base coat on 2 fingers and Get Even on the last 3, then Zara, then topped with Armor. You can already see that Colorlock is a shade darker than Seche Vite and not as glossy. It also took much longer to set, but it was thinner and easier to apply than Seche Vite.

After a ridiculously long time of wearing the same polish, I took these photos almost 2 weeks after application. Obviously, this was an impressive run. Seche was on my non-dominant hand so I expected it to hold up well, and it didn't disappoint. Nail growth shows more than anything, and moderate tip wear.

Here is the shocking result of Colorlock. The large dents I got shortly after application, but the rest appeared throughout the time I wore the polish. After 13 days, my polish was nearly matte! It looks like there are a bunch of tiny cuts all over my nail. I'm used to Zoya having very good quality products so this was rather disappointing. Granted, this was my dominant hand and had more wear than the left but I still prefer my topcoats to stay shiny throughout wear.

Overall, both systems work well to lengthen the wear of polish but for now I will stick to Seche products to keep my shiny addiction satiated.

Like I said, I will go more in-depth to Colorlock later, but I will say in its defense that Remove+ is the BEST polish remover I have ever used.

And finally, I have my current polish and Konad to share with you. I haven't done a konadicure in what seems like forever and after doing a few dark polishes, I thought the pearly OPI Who Needs A Prince? would be perfect. It's the coolest polish. Semi-sheer pale pink with fine, red opalescent shimmer. I like my polishes pretty opaque and this was fine at 3 coats but I did 4 to get this milky shade.

I thought a holo would look fantastic Konaded on top, but Extravagance wasn't opaque enough to show the shimmer.

So I ended up dabbing on streaks of China Glaze's How About A Tumble on top of the konad here and there, which did the trick quite nicely. Here is my final konadicure.

Speaking of Konad, I am totally honored to share with you guys my very first coupon code! The website I buy all of my Konad supplies is now offering the code frmheadtotoe for a huge 30% off your total purchase at http://www.wowsocool.com. This only excludes the "Build Your Own Kits" which are already steeply discounted. Not only that, but you receive FREE SHIPPING on orders over $20 after the discount!

I just think this is so cool because they are -the- best website for Konad out there, period. In my experience, I've never seen better customer service. They literally ship out your order asap, I'm talking sometimes the same day you order. Crazy! (And no, I am not receiving any $, product, or discount for this, they are just my favorite and I've ordered from them many times! ^^) I highly recommend buying the Konad Special Polish in black and white since they work the best for stamping.

Okay, I'm going to try to get some good sleep tonight. Wish me luck for sleeping through the night!

EOS Adult Brown Lenses

Hey everyone, I know a lot of you have been looking forward to the review of these EOS Angel Brown lenses. It seems that there haven't been too many photos of this type floating around yet but I've got to say, I really love these!

I of course got the lenses from Pretty and Cute. Janie is sooooo great with customer service so if you order these, I highly recommend her online store. :D

Here's a quick video review of the lenses. (Sorry, had to delete the first couple uploads cause the sound was off. It's fixed now so I apologize to those who commented or rated the vid before!)

Similar to the Adult grey lenses, these lenses seem to change color depending on what lighting you are in. They go anywhere from a tan color to a true grey. It's a much more natural look than Adult Grey also, since Grey turns light blue or lavender on me. I also think these would be easier for those with fairer skin to pull off. Light blue lenses in general probably look best on those with tanner skin or darker complexions, but light brown and grey seems to flatter a wider range of skintones.

They also have the same crystal-like pattern that all of the Adult series has, which may seem intimidating but actually looks quite natural in real life. It blends in better than many lenses that have a solid pupil hole.

Here you can see the pattern. It has the same bluish, faded limbal ring that Adult Grey has.

And this is with Adult Brown in natural light. (Told you I love this blazer!)

a close-up. dang, uploading to blogger makes my pic quality yucky! :P

super close-up to see the pattern. oh, and this is one of my favorite neutral looks using NYX single shadows in cream cheese, flamingo, and almond.

I just love the effect of these. It's kind of soft, don't you think?

mmm, I love my wedding ring. ^^

And I wanted to see how they would look in different lighting, so these were taken by a floor lamp that we have. It's one of those rice-paper vessel type lamps that gives off a soft light.

All in all, I like it! My Adult Greys and these are practically tied for my favorite lenses. Gotta love the eye-catching effect of Greys, but the Browns are so soft and natural yet still very bright. I've never really seen that with any brown lenses except maybe Solotica Ocre lenses but I prefer these over Soloticas.

As I mentioned earlier, you can buy these from www.prettyandcute.com and please tell Janie that you were referred by frmheadtotoe. :)

Now I gotta go shower and get ready for babysitting, then out for a night on the town! I haven't gone dancing in FOREVER! Woop, woop!

Bratty Boo, I love you!

So recently for work I was researching reusable bags. Although I won't be so bold to say I'm a lean mean greenie, but I do recycle and hate waste. The idea of reusable bags really appeals to me, and my husband and I use them for our groceries regularly (and use old plastic bags for trash too). As a whole, I would say that the design for reusable bags have gotten better but still not super fashionable or something I'd want to carry around on a whim. This is until I came across Bratty Boo.

OMG isn't this thing hilarious? There are many manifestations of "The Boo Dog" including this main one, Goth Boo, Bebe Boo, and my personal favorite, Bratty Boo.

Now I don't condone smoking at all but how ridiculously awesome is Goth Boo in her fishnet tights and dark undereye circles? And I just think Bratty Boo is perfect with her pearl necklace and grumpy expression. What better way to carry my tools around for my makeup jobs?!!!

Here is the bag I got, the Dual Handle Canvas Bag with Bratty Boo.

It's very, very spacious. 12"x12"x8" and has a nice pocket to fit my cell phone, wallet, combs, lashes, whatever extras I need. I can fit my whole small train case inside as well as a towel and there's still room on the sides for a hairspray and water bottle. There's a hard plastic panel at the bottom too, so it's very sturdy.

Here you can see both the long and short handles. Comes in handy depending on how much stuff I am carrying!

And a close-up of Bratty Boo herself. LOL. I love it so much.

The dual handle bag sells on http://theboodog.com/ for $20 and there are other styles of 100% eco-friendly bags to choose from including a canvas bag for $15 or even a set-of-2 onesies for $10.

"The Destroyer" onesies XD

Seriously, I'm not even kidding, I love this bag so much. I e-mailed her right away and I was like PLEASE SEND ME THIS RIGHT NOW AND FREE STICKERS PLEASE!!! Did I mention she gives away free stickers of boo on her site? 'Chyeah. Totally awesome. It even had a bone-shaped paper clip. I may or may not have squealed when I saw it.

Here's me carrying the bag. You must note that I am only a stitch above 4'10" so it looks huge on me but it has made my makeup jobs so much easier!

And here was my outfit that day. I am probably equally as obsessed with this BB Dakota cotton blazer as I am with my Bratty Boo bag.

Blazer - BB Dakota, t-shirt & skirt - Forever 21, Boots - Minnetonka

I was going for a really "no makeup" look that day so I decided to just use eyeliner, mascara, and Wonder Eyelid Tape. This is a double-stick tape that looks very natural but I'll go more in-depth into that for a future post. :)

Close-up of the eye. Urban Decay 24/7 pencils in Zero for upper lash line and Lucky for the outer half of the lower lash line. Covergirl Lash Exact Waterproof mascara.

Alright, that's all I got. Please check out http://theboodog.com because, well, I just love sharing a great find. (I almost wanted to keep this as my little secret, haha! But that would be selfish of me. :P)

Peace out, girlscouts!

DSK Jewelry

Here is part 2 of my jewelry posts. I'm sure many of you have heard of DSK Jewelry and you certainly should also check Stephanie's blog out if you haven't already! Her personality is hilarious and warm and she has a very simple and classic, easy-to-wear style of crystal jewelry that anyone can rock.

I absolutely fell in love with a couple of her pieces and I've gotten so many compliments on them when I've worn them. The two I bought are "Bubbi's Moonlight Heart Necklace" and "Pearls and Bows" earrings. I even just wore the set together to a wedding yesterday! (OMG it was insanity and so much fun. I did makeup for the bride, 6 bridesmaids, 2 mothers, and 2 friends of the family... What a long day! Hollywood should put out a "My Big Fat Vietnamese Wedding" because they are so wonderful and crazy and exciting to be around!) And actually, for that matter, I've worn these pieces often everyday too. They just go with everything. :D

Here are some product photos of the necklace and earrings:

I just love jewelry packaging, don't you?

The heart chain is so cute!

Sterling silver hooks for my poor sensitive ears

This is with the jewelry on

Here are a couple close-ups of the jewelry worn

Isn't the color of the necklace so pretty? Sometimes it looks like clear AB, and sometimes it has flashes of teal and rainbow colors.

I love them so much!

Now I will say that the heart necklace gets less sparkly after being worn since the oils from your skin make the crystal less reflective, but I just wipe it with some cloth before I wear it again. Maybe next time I will get a different color so the smudging doesn't show up as much.

If you like her style, definitely check out http://dskjewelry.blogspot.com. Thank you so much Steph for the your gorgeous handiwork and for the shoutout a couple weeks ago! <3 you! Oh, and if you have ordered from DSK before, let me know what you got in the comments.

He Qi Crystal Designs

Hey guys! My next couple of posts are going to be about some of my favorite accessories: JEWELRY! Most of you should know by now how much I adore things that are cute, sparkly, shimmery, iridescent, reflective, etcetera etcetera and there is nothing better in my humble opinion than crystals. They just come in such a wide variety of colors, shapes, sizes... Endless possibilities! Having done a bit of jewelry making myself in the past, I have so much respect for the blogger girls who are making their own business by custom creating these lovely items to sell online.

One of these super sweet ladies is Lisa from He Qi Crystal Designs (formerly known as HeHe Productions) who has been doing craftmaking for a number of years. You Soompi girls probably recognize her as one of the biggest sellers in the selling & trading forums, and she definitely lives up to her experience.

Here is a video I made about the earrings (ROWR, youtube made my vid squished. It's supposed to be widescreen! T.T)

Browsing through her online store http://heheproductions.ecrater.com it was very difficult to choose what I wanted to get (I wanted them all XD), but these really adorable mother-of-pearl earrings really caught my eye.

She also sent the package with lots of yummy candies and samples

The earrings came in very pretty packaging tied with a metallic ribbon

Here is what the earrings look like on. Really nice size, isn't it?

A close-up

I really like how the crystal at the bottom hangs. It's very delicate but still shows up a lot.

This shows off my makeup well...I used NYX cherry for the upper lid and NYX morocco (LOVE this color!) for the bottom. Lenses are EOS Adult Grey. (If you want to buy these lenses, I got them from www.prettyandcute.com. Write me as your referrer!)

Silly, silly. Love my new earrings!

They just frame the face so well, don't you think? Nicely proportioned!

Woohoo! I love them so much. Thank you SO much Lisa, they are so beautifully made! Everyone please check out Lisa's blog also at http://hqcdblog.blogspot.com/. She's almost always hosting some type of giveaway and has great daily deals and discounts. Plus, she's really sweet. :D
