Tag: This or That

11:48 PM

Hey everyone! Hope nobody forgot to "Spring Forward" in the US. It's time to lose an hour of sleep and get a bit of more daylight for the workday which I am really looking forward to! It helps on the long drive home to not be in the gloomy, sleepy dark. ;)

Anyway, I wanted to share another tag video with you. I was actually tagged for the "This or That" tag back in November of last year or so, and never got around to recording it until more recently. It's a fun one! Here's the video.

Please forgive my silliness here! I'm naturally quite a silly person if you couldn't tell before. I was looking through old family albums with my parents the other night and I can't tell you how many images there are of me making silly faces. My dad says I've always been a character. Guess some things never change. ;D

Here are the questions for the "This or That" tag so you can follow along!

If you have a blog or youtube, please do the tag as well and link it back to me so I can read what your opinions are of everything! I love seeing if I can guess what other friends will answer for each category.

Maybe you were able to guess some of my answers as well? :)

Just for fun, I'm going to ask my own "this or that" question for you to answer in the comments:

Video tutorials OR Photo/blog tutorials

Please let me know in the comments which you prefer and why. I always want to improve my blog and videos so any suggestions for improvement would be very helpful! ^_^

  1. hi jen :) i prefer video tutorials because i love seeing the look come together step by step. a picture paints a thousand words and no matter how well u describe things in writing, it is never the same as seeing it being done :D

  4. well i think you're a pretty cool gangstaa :DD

i can't decide whether i prefer photo tutorials or video tutorials...maybe because they don't really apply to me :P

i like photo tutorials but only if the lighting is good, the photo quality is good and if you keep in mind the elements and principles of design.

and for videos...hmm, they seem a bit more personal. i just like hearing you talk :) i enjoy your humour and it makes my day just a little bit better

i just think both formats are an art within themselves and that they should be done to the best of your ability or you shouldn't even bother uploading it :)

  5. Hi Jen,
What's the name of the lipstick you are wearing in this video? I really like the colour.

  6. As I have a slow internet connection, I would say photos/blog tutorials, and they are also easier to find later.

But video can really help to explain motions, so, for me, the ideal is a not too long video tutorial with several photos of the final look on the blog with the list of the products you used.
(So as I can see before if the look interests me or not and if it worth the long downloading)

  7. Heey Jen! Hmm I think I prefer Photo/blog tutorials. I don't know, I think you can read and watch it in your own speed and it's alot easier to create a look yourself watching to the photo's instead of listening and clicking 'stop'. But I also really like videos because it's cool to hear you! I really enjoyed watching your this or that tag! Maybe I'll do it myself :)

  8. hi jen,
i've been a bit of a lurker on your site, but i really love the video tutorials--i know they probably take a lot more time to edit and such, but it's a lot easier to see exactly how something is done, and then modify it to fit my eye (monolid ^.^). speaking of which, until i found your blog, i had THE hardest time trying to find monolid tutorials that didn't raccoon-ify me, so thank you so much!

  9. Photo/blog tutorials, don't need to wait for videos to load, and quicker to read/follow.

  10. Hello! I prefer photo/blog posts. But if it's a complicated look that requires a lot of explaining, I guess YouTube would be better. I participated in your tag. :)

  11. Great video Jen! I had a lot of the same answers as you :) Fun guessing yours :P

Hmmm...I'm torn with your question because I like video tutorials when demos are involved like when you're doing a makeup tutorial but I actually prefer photo blogs for outfit posts and for reviews. My reason is because sometimes I don't have the time to watch a whole video (or if I'm at work I can't watch!) so I like to be able to read something quickly and look at the pictures to get what I need from the post.

  22. Count me in the blog/photo camp! Don't really like waiting for videos to load and they tend to be longer than a text/photo-based tutorial where you can read/skim at your own pace and either go slowly over things you aren't sure of or skip over things you're already comfortable doing. I don't have the patience to watch longer videos.

  23. lol love this tag game! Kind of makes me wish I had time for vlogging. :)

    Thanks for sharing, girl!

  24. Jen, you are so cute!!!

Um, to be honest, I only watch 1 out of 10 of your videos (I know, I didn't even watch this one) but I read your blog avidly. Mostly because I do most of my blog reading at work or on the bus, and I don't usually have my headphones and I don't really want to be watching the videos when everyone can see/hear!

I do like video tutorials because it's easier to do step by step, but I would prefer actual blog posts over vlogs :)

  33. I think I prefer learning from video tuts, but I still love photos!! I think I actually like the combo better, as in a video tutorial and then pics of the finished look, kind of what you already do. Whatever you do, it's amazing as usual. :P

  35. BOTH!

I like your photo tutorials for a quick reference. (whispers) It's also great for when I'm at work and I can't watch the videos. ;)

I also like your video tutorials for the details on your technique and seeing the progression of how the look comes together.

so...definitely photos for reviews and tutorial reference.. videos for tutorials and random vids like this one. :)
