Fall Drugstore Makeup Tutorial
1:58 AMHey guys! Today I wanted to share with you a makeup tutorial that I have been wearing SO often for the last month. It has seriously been a go-to look that I haven't felt this strongly about since I first got my Naked Palette. Not only have I gotten tons of requests for this eye look specifically, but I've always gotten requests to do an all-drugstore look for those of you on a budget so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone. I know it's silly since this eyeshadow has been out for a while now, but I absolutely adore the L'Oreal HIP Eyeshadow duo in 510 Electrified (see swatches here).
I don't know what it is but I feel like lately drugstore makeup has really stepped up its game! To see my everyday Fall drugstore look, watch below:
Products mentioned:
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Foundation in 60 Natural Beige
Physicians Formula Mineral Wear powder in Beige
NYX HD Eye Shadow Base
L'Oreal HIP Eyeshadow Duo in 510 Electrified
NYX Single Eyeshadow in Vanilla Sky (now also available at Nordstrom!)
Wet & Wild Gel Liner
Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Waterproof mascara
Model 21 #63 lashes
Milani blush in Luminous (baked version here)
NYX Black Label lipstick in Diva
Milani 3D Glitzy Glamour Gloss in 43
My nailpolish is China Glaze Ruby Pumps
Top is from Wildfox Couture which I wore in this post (cream version here)
Sigma Brushes used in this video are from the Make Me Cool kit which you can browse here.
So I know in my video I said that I would have more pics in this blog post but I completely blanked out after recording and forgot to take nice pics. Oops! I did take some screencaps from the video for my blog readers though, so you can at least get an idea of the look. :)
As an aside, I hope you had a happy Pepero day (11.11.11) or maybe 가래떡데이? Hehehe~

Oooh, this is great, thank you. I have that NYX HD base, too! How do you think it compares with UDPP? I like my NYX HD base, but it's sometimes a hit and miss for me as far as making my eyeshadow last. I've been wondering if I should take splurge for UDPP, but my lids could just be super oil factories.
ReplyDeleteI screamed when I saw The Boys.
ReplyDeleteI AM SO HAPPY.
I've been dying for another kpop look from you, and SNSD is my favorite group. Ah, so much happiness.
I'm so excited for "The Boys" tutorial!
ReplyDeleteAlso Happy Peppero Day! (Belatedly now)
*happy dance* so glad you've filmed "The Boys" tutorial! I can't wait to watch! I keep checking to see if you've uploaded it haha.
ReplyDeleteAs for fun tags, how about a husband tag? I recently watched a Korean makeup guru from Australia do a husband tag. It was really funny and cute to watch =] She also did a video where her husband put on makeup for her LOL. I laughed so much.
Your skin has been looking so great in your videos and pictures!! How do you do it? Or is it genius camera skills? ;)

Hi Jen. I wanted to know where you bought that ring you wore in this video? Its so gorgeous and i really want one
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this tutorial Jen. I tried it today using some of my existing eye colors that are similar to those you used, and the result was amazing! I really love it.
ReplyDeleteI think your tutorials are fantastic and you always look gorgeous (even at the beginning when you haven't started applying any makeup yet)!
your eye makeup is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteand I tried to follow the eye makeup today^o^

Stunning!

how do you clean your brushes ?
ReplyDeleteI can see why it's highly requested, I have noticed how glowy and fresh and dewy your face is in your 2 previous videos, that I actually wanted to ask you what you use to give your face this beautiful and natural glow without looking oily, but now I know ^^ I might buy the shadow duo since I have quite similar colors as yours and I also happen to have uneven eyelid creases too due to a congenital ptosis so I do kind of relate, but I'm not Asian I'm Middle Eastern :)
ReplyDeleteI love metallic eye shadows because they really give you that nice and feminine glow and I think you can wear them year around and not just in fall and winter but that is just my opinion :)
Thank you for this tutorial, it shows us that drugstore makeup can be just as good as high end makeup.
please check out my blog

thank you for the tutorial. i tried it today and it came out pretty good...but not as nice as on you! i think it's bc i have a different eye shape than you. quick q for you: i lost my mac fluidline. i think it fell into the trash by mistake. should i buy another one or should i try the wet n wild?
ReplyDeletepink and silver look so good together!
ReplyDeleteAbout the request, can you please do a tutorial on Wonder Girls' Be My Baby, preferably Sohee's? Thanks! :D
Ahh Jen, you always look pretty. Watching your tutorial makes me want to buy that L'Oreal HiP Electrified.
ReplyDeleteCat In Calico: I do prefer my UDPP since it goes on clear while the NYX has a bit of concealer-like color to it which accentuated the dryness of my eyelids. I didn't notice any difference with wear though, but maybe I'd have to do a side-by-side to find that out.
ReplyDeleteMichelle: I think it's the foundation! My skin has actually been broken out lately, and you can see the bumps around my chin but the Neutrogena foundation has a nice glowing naturalness to it!
Cristina Vang: My ring is by Amrita Singh. I bought it during one of her Hautelook sales. :)
lisa: I'll have to do a video showing how I clean them!
Vickie: Definitely try the WnW. Even if you don't like it, you aren't out by much but I find them to be really similar!
Hi Jen! I just recently started watching your YouTube videos and reading your blogs--I'm hooked! I'm sure you've heard this many times before, but you truly are extremely good at what you do. I love that you promote make up as a beauty enhancer rather than to cover "imperfections". There's so much stigma around women, beauty, and especially make-up, and it's so refreshing that you stay true to your natural looks but still give everyone a reason to use products as an art. You're very charming and genuine in both your blogs and videos, so much so that I'm sure everyone feels like they know you personally--something that's hard to find in most other YouTube/make-up gurus. Thank you for everything!
ReplyDeleteHi Jen!

I love your tutorials! I noticed some k-pop singers (like IU, Davichi) have this shiny lower lashline look on their eyes, and that really make the eyes pop - also looks like they have tears on their eyes. I wish I could describe better... Do you know what they use to create this kind of look? Could you please do a tutorial?
ReplyDeleteLove the make up =)))
ReplyDeleteJen:
ReplyDeleteHave you ever used gel nail polish? I was thinking of trying it, but wanted to see if you've used it before.
hey Jen, thankyou so much for your tutorials! they are awesome and I also love your blog! I know its a bit late and past halloween, but I wondering if you could do a nativeamerican/pocahontas tutorial someday?

Hi Jen!
ReplyDeleteI just have a question concerning makeup, and just hoping you could help me out..
Whenever I wear mascara, or pencil eyeliner, it seems to alway smudge/smear under my eyes. Have you ever had that problem? If so, HELP, pleaasse! :)
I really hope you are doing Tiffany's look!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jen.
ReplyDeleteI love your tutorials and have been a lurker for the longest time. I was wondering if you could do a tutorial for basic eye brushes - I'm really looking to get some good basic brushes as I am a complete make-up newbie.
