Manicure Monday: Urban Decay Addiction

9:00 AM

As a follow-up to last week's Mani Monday, I wanted to test out the second polish from Urban Decay's Fall release: Addiction. This khaki-green shimmer blast looked like it would be another nice neutral for autumn outfits. Honestly after feeling a bit ho-hum about Vice (the polish, not the amazing palette) I didn't have grand expectations for this one to be as complex on the nail as it is in the bottle. Did this shade impress or did history repeat itself? Find out below!

I'm so happy to report that Addiction indeed was a beautiful polish all-around and very much trumps its sister Vice. The shimmer in this one is just as vibrant as in the bottle and looks like it is loaded with both silver and pale gold glass flecks which warm up the olive green base. This particular green isn't what I'd normally gravitate toward but it ended up being sparkly yet neutral enough to look classy since it doesn't pull too much attention. It should meld perfectly with this season's military trend.

Here I used a base of OPI Nail Envy, 2 coats of Addiction, and topped it off with Seche Vite. I found this polish to be quite smooth and easy to apply and it also had pretty good lasting power as well.

Check out the beautiful skull cap with flower eye sockets. Really a nice, artistic detail. If interested, you can pick this up for $15 at Sephora, Macy's, and beauty.com.

Readers, will you be trying any Fall-release nail polishes? Have you tried military-colored nails? Let me know in the comments!

  5. That is seriously such a rad (fall) color! I am such a packaging girl; anything with cute or awesome packaging just makes me want to buy it. I really love Urban Decay products but have not tried any of their polishes! I might have to just to order a few colors. I have a similar color on my nails right now - it is a Sephora by OPI metallic-military-ish color I got in one of those kits that they used to sell.

  8. I love this color! Although, I love everything about urban decays line so I am a little bias haha. I picked up to OPI polishes the other day that are gorgeous, they are significant other color and up front and personal. You should give them a try :)

    1. I don't own that polish myself, but judging by photos, Is She For Reel? is much more of a silver-based color while Addiction is truly an olive green. Both pretty shades!

    1. I like to experiment with all different colors, but I choose based on my mood and what colors are inspiring me at the moment. For the most part, just go with your gut of colors that you like, but note that warm colors look great on warmer (yellow-undertone) skintones and cool colors look great on those with pinker undertones. Hope that helps!
