Manicure Monday: ORLY Goth and Deborah Lippmann I Love The Nightlife9:00 AM
Hey everyone! This week's Manicure Monday came about because I wanted to have something that would be suitable for New Year's Eve festivities. There's just something about a classic black and silver combo that reminds me of the glittering lights that always come about during New Years celebrations. Suiting its name perfectly, I brought out Deborah Lippmann's I Love The Nightlife to match a paramount evening.
For the base I applied Deborah Lippmann Gel Lab Base Coat with 2 coats of one of my favorite blacks, ORLY Goth. Goth has tiny silver flecks that give it a beautiful look when used alone and also has lovely opacity and smoothness. To enhance the silver glitter I added a gradient of silver glitter near the cuticles.
On the ring fingers I applied Deborah Lippmann's I Love The Nightlife. I consider this to be purely a glitter top coat, not intended for full coverage since the glitters needed to be hand-placed. When applied alone it's pretty sparse but thankfully the glitter really pops over black. As usual, I used Seche Vite top coat to seal everything in.
As a standalone polish I don't think I would purchase this separately since it's one of the trickier glitters I've tried, but I can't complain about the finished look. I bought it as a 5-pack from Gilt so it's not really a regret either, but I do much more prefer the opaque Ruby Red Slippers (my review) and Across The Universe (my review).
Overall, I can't wait to show off this mani while playing 윷놀이 (yut nori = traditional Korean board game) and eating 떡국 (dduk gook = traditional rice cake soup) at my sister's place on New Year's Day!
Readers, are you doing anything special for New Year's Eve? What will be on your nails this year? Let me know in the comments!
