You know that feeling you get when you're at a store and something sparkly and gorgeous catches your eye? Ooooh, shiny... Maybe it's just me and my magpie obsession with collecting the preciouses but I've always admired the beautiful way jewelry is displayed when you go shopping. Everything is open where you can see it in the nicest light and you can choose what best suits your taste.

I'm all about bringing that concept into the home. Jewelry is fun because it's already beautiful so why hide it in a drawer? Here's a peek at some of my collection and how I display my sparkly things in an easy-access, aesthetically pleasing way.

Over the course of Manicure Monday history (click above to see the blog post) you've seen me wear a ton of glitter polishes, right? And that means hours of annoying time sucked away dedicated to ripping and scrubbing glitter particles off your fingers, getting it everywhere including on Husband whom we all know secretly appreciates looking like a pixie-dust fairy whenever he leaves the house.

As a graduate of industrial design, I have a huge appreciation for the design of products. I'm someone who likes to surround herself with things that are visually pleasing and not just eye-catching, but things that make me smile. My kitchen is filled with shark-shaped oven mitts, tea towels with surfing dinosaurs embroidered on them, and a toothpick holder that looks like a rabbit coming out of a hat. You could say whimsy and cuteness are the themes of my style.

After years of working in the shop cutting, sanding, painting, sawing, and gluing, I've really come to appreciate things that are handmade and personally customized. This is why I decided (against the better judgement of my husband--oh you of little faith!) to customize my freakin' amazing computer tower. I spent so much time nerding it up on the computer that it made perfect sense to me to make it pink and girly! Mind you, it's not finished yet but I wanted to show you a little peek at my process and where it's at now. :D

This is what I started with, the Antec Skeleton computer tower. Pretty cool design but very masculine, don't you think?




I decided to record a video showing the SUPER AWESOME EFFECTS of the color-changing fan and the sparkly rainbowy goodness of the finish. Please do watch as the photos themselves do no justice to all of the crazy lights playing around the real thing. :D

Wahahaha, I am a crafty one but what can I say? I love my pink.

Here is the video tutorial for a simple aspirin and honey mask inspired by ricebunny's xanga. It's good for making your skin soft and smooth, as the aspirin particles exfoliate well improving the texture of your face. I only use it about once or twice a week.

Ingredients:

1. Uncoated aspirin
2. Honey
3. A clean plate to create mixture
4. A couple drops of water to dissolve the aspirin



You can used coated aspirin, but you'll need to dissolve the coating first and generic aspirin is cheaper anyway. I'd recommend just buying some. Also, if you have super sensitive skin, test this out on a small part of your face first. If you start to get any irritation, wash it off right away. Anyway, here's the vid.
