Hidrocharme Mels

3:01 PM

I got some new lenses. They are from Solotica, the same brand as the ones I got before, but this is a different style and color. This one is the Hidrocharme style which has a stronger limbal ring (black ring outside the iris) and the color is Mel, which means honey in Portugese, but looks green in person.

They were darker than I thought they would be at first, but after seeing them in different lighting conditions I was really amazed at how they transform. Sometimes they are dark green, sometimes they are light green, but they are always somewhat translucent and show up well. It's like how real irises change color in different light! Way to go, Solotica, you are my eyes' new best friend.

  1. I had green contacts in high school but have stuck to the clear ever since... I just can't find any that don't look silly in my eyes.

  3. djgidget: I've heard that freshlook colorblends are very natural-looking green contacts that are easily available. I was always under the impression that green is one of the eye colors that is easier to pull off.

m: you can order soloticas from Brazilian websites such as lentesdecontacto or viallure.

  4. Hi Jen, are these comfortable/breathable in your eyes? Do you get any reactions (dryness, itchiness, blurry vision, etc) from wearing these? Thanks...

  5. Hmm. I am not a daily contact wearer so to be honest I don't think any lenses are really super comfy, but these are okay. I find the hidrocharmes to be comfier than my natural colors from the solotica line. All soloticas tend to be thick compared to other lenses, but that doesn't equal discomfort. I actually find freshlooks to be less comfortable and they are very thin! Just keep eyedrops handy for any lenses since your eye health is important regardless of the brand. :)

  6. Oh wow these are gorgeous on you! I'd originally intended on getting the Solotica Hidrocor Mels, but I think you turned me around, lols! xD I just think I may get the Hidrocharme now instead. =P

I have a question though, what did you use to order with (ie. Visa/Mastercard CC, Prepaid Card, Western Union, etc.) and which site did you order off of? Because I'm also a member of Lensaholic and I remember hearing that many international members had trouble ordering the lenses off the sites with a Credit Card. =S

  7. You look great! I had a question, I have dark eyes and would like to order the solotica lens in Mel. I was going to go with the Natural Color but it seems that the Natural Color is more translucent. Am I better off going with the Hidrocharme? Thanks!

  8. jenneh: I think they are fine with taking credit cards now, at least, I think viallure is. And they also take paypal too. I'd go with that as it's safest.

anonymous: I would recommend the hidrocharmes in mel because even with these, they can be pretty dark unless the light is in them. They are more like natural medium green eyes that change in lightness and darkness based on the light in the room but turn a lot lighter especially with flash.

  9. Hey, you look great in the pictures. I also have a naturally dark dark brown eyes (looks basically black) and have been considering this. I was wondering if you preferred the hidrocharmes or the hidrocolor (I'm sure I'm spelling them wrong). Basically, do you think it looks better with our without the outer ring? thanks!

  10. Hi! The contacts look lovely on you. My eye color is black basically. Would Solotica's contacts show up on my eye color? I've been looking for the same results as yours but I noticed that your eye color is much lighter than mine.

  11. Camille: I prefer the limbal ring. Hidrocharmes are my favorite of the 3 styles.

.oOLimOo.: Well, it depends on what you are expecting. Since soloticas are semi-opaque, they are lighter on lighter eyes and darker on darker eyes. Mels are not a very light color if you have black eyes. They usually look dark or medium green in indoor light, but can go lighter in natural light or with flash. If your eyes are black, they WILL show up, but it will not be dramatic. It will be a natural-looking green.

One thing to note is that the different styles are different in opacity. Hidrocors are the most opaque (lightest, most pigmented) and the Natural Colors are the most translucent (shows darker on dark eyes) while charmes are in the middle. Hidrocor mels are much lighter color than my hidrocharme mels.

  12. Hi, it seems you own both Ocre and Mel from the Solotica line of contacts.. I have been wanting to purchase a pair of Hidrocharme lenses, but I can't seem to decide between the colors Ocre and Mel.. I would appreciate any input or advice you can provide, Jen.. Thanks :)

  13. I should purchase Hidrocors to show the most pigmentation on my eyes then correct? b/c I really want color to be noticeable in my eyes.

  15. anonymous: if you want green eyes, go with mel. If you want greyish-brown eyes, go with ocre. Mel is usually slightly lighter than ocre. Both colors are natural on brown eyes... I really loved both colors! I sold my ocres because for me, the hidrocharmes were more comfortable than the natural colors but if both of yours are charmes, it's just up to your color preference.

.oOLimOo.: If you want a lighter color and don't care about not having bigger eyes, go with hidrocors. If you want bigger-looking eyes go with hidrocharmes. As you can see, charmes still show up on me but cors would be even lighter. Cors just have no limbal ring and I prefer a limbal ring.

  19. Hi!

I'm thinking of buying those contacts on Wrlens. I live in France. Before I do, I'd like to know which product do you use for those lenses? I mean they're yearly contacts, so far I've always put monthly contacts so I wonder if it's the same "routine" (can I put them in my little box with my usual product or do I need a special one?)

By the way, I love your blog and you're gorgeous :)

Sorry but where did you buy the Solotica contacts? I recently ordered them from wrlens.com. Did you get them from the same site? and how much were they?
