SNSD "Run Devil Run" Taeyeon Inspired Makeup Tutorial

Hello lovelies! Today I have another Kpop-inspired look, since it's been a while since I posted my last one. This is inspired from a SNSD (aka Girl's Generation or 소녀시대) video from last year called "Run Devil Run" and is the makeup that the leader of the group Taeyeon wears. 


So to preface this video, I just want to note how much a pain in the butt this tutorial was to create! 

While I was recording, the sun quickly went down making the video coloring really dark and off. Then, several times throughout recording I had issues with application. My Dolly Wink liner was drying out and caused a bunch of wing attempts to look bad, which is why I switched over to the Eyeko liner later on. The first crystal I used was too large and I had to switch. Then, after applying the lashes my eyes decided to become uneven with one double-lid and one monolid. Even with editing the video, I finished editing in Windows Movie Maker and it wouldn't export due to an error (omg hours of work gone)! Had to completely reformat each raw video to work in iMovie and re-edit completely. >_< 

Please forgive any weirdness going on here because it took a lot to get here and I debated not uploading it at all! -_-;;;

If you've never heard of Girl's Generation then definitely check out their leggy, 9-girl awesomeness below. They are basically the most popular girl group in South Korea and watching their videos is like virtually playing with Barbie dolls. They are pretty, sing well, and have catchy, synchronized dance moves. Definitely eye candy for sure! ^_^


Here are some screen caps I took of Taeyeon's makeup from the video. The basic concept is a clean lid with heavy black eyeliner which is winged twice, and crystals at the outer eye corners. She also has a clean, glowy complexion and thick brows.

I wanted to show my hair but it's kind of a fail since I have a ton of baby hairs at the front-sides of my face so it doesn't look good on me! T^T
Obligatory smile cause that's how I roll.

One last attempt at looking angsty like I am angry at a devil 정말 bad boy.

    I always enjoy how you translate Kpop looks onto your own face. Regardless of how well you think you did, I always like your effort. :)

    I have to say, my favorite member of SNSD has to be Hyoyeon. She's an amazing dancer and I don't think she gets enough attention. She's also hilarious in variety shows.

    I love this look! And I have a few favorites. I love Tiffany, but I have a soft spot for Yuri, Hyoyeon, and Sooyoung. But my absolute favorite is probably Yuri. Thank you for going through all of that hard work! The look came out great! Just a question, if you see this, do you have any suggestions for hooded eye makeup? I have hooded eyes, but my eyelids make it look like I have monolids, and applying any sort of eyemakeup just ends in failure. =/

    My fave members thr r definitely taeyeon n Tiffany. Taeyeon is such an amazing vocalist.she can sing high n low vocals really well. Tiffany is also gd in singing!!+++ she's really prettyyyyy!! I love sunny,seohyun n hyoyeon too !! I didn't knw u were Korean Jen, I tod u were Chinese . Cz u look lk Chinese. N u hv really fair skin. I love ur tutorials esp d valentine's look.     And my eyes do that all the time!
    I'm right handed and my right eye usually becomes 'double lid' and my left eye is usually 'mono lid'.....
    I can never figure out the right angle to put on my false eye lashes to get the double lid look

    Oh I LOVE SNSD and their songs...especially "Run Devil Run"! I think "Run Devil Run" is the stand out. The MV is so cool and the make-up is so nice.
    My favorite member is Jessica, Tiffany and Yuri. I can't decide who is the best.

    And I have to say now I love this tutorial<3

    Awesome tutorial! The eyebrows really change your the look of your face. Oh and my fav is Tiffany too!

    A few suggestions though... For your photos, you should look into setting the white balance of your camera based on your lighting. Looks like you used fluorescent lights which tend to sway green. There should be a fluo or custom setting in you camera to compensate for it.

    For your videos, maybe consider getting proper video editing software. Sony Vegas is simple to learn, more capable than imovie and windows movie maker and is more affordable than adobe and apple's offerings.

    Here's an average of Asian faces based on gender and country. They even did an average of some of the actors who look quite different from the average male and female composites of their country. Quite interesting.

    the average korean female face is reallyyy pretty.

    but most of the average composites are pretty good looking for each race--especially the average actors for each, haha. the average actors for each one actually look alike--probably indicating the similar beauty standards that east asians have in general.

    I'd have to disagree with you though on how talented the group is ... i find SNSD's popularity lies more on the girls' beauty than their musical talent. Only a couple of the girls actually knows how to sing, most of them are just really pretty...

    HyoYeon is my favourite! I think she's completely underrated. She's an amazing dancer, obviously being the main dancer in the group, and has such a distinct look, she's the reason I got into SNSD! I think she's gorgeous, and definitely needs more lines in songs!

    Honestly, I like Tiffany and Yuri. But after watching the Goguma couple... I've come to like Seohyun the most! And you're so pretttyyyy!!! And I'm Super looking forward to your interpretation of IU's Real Album look. She's so pretty, and her makeup for those pictures are gorgeous!
