Manicure Monday: ORLY Golden Maharaja

Hey everyone! Today's Mani Monday is a color that I've actually had for a few years but recently found a new love for: ORLY Golden Maharaja. As I was sifting through my nail collection to pull out Fall-appropriate shades, this one screamed warm chili-chocolate to me. You know, the rich Venezuelan kind with a pinch of cayenne pepper to make the perfect balance of heat and sweetness? Such a wonderful Fall fireside treat and nail color!

In the bottle Golden Maharaja is a brown-based polish with golden shimmers. Here I used a base of OPI Nail Envy, 3 coats of Golden Maharaja, and topped it off with Seche Vite Top Coat. Depending on how rich you like the color, 2 coats would've been fine too but the depth of the shade really shines at 3.

I honestly wasn't sure if I'd be in love with a polish that was so brown, but somehow the reddish tints are really drawn out when applied on the nails. The result just looks classy and fiery without looking too vampy. The application and wear have also both been fantastic. LOVE!

In general, I've been extremely satisfied with the ORLY polishes I've tried. The formulas aren't difficult to work with and the colors are vibrant and beautiful. I'm going to have to keep an eye out for more ORLYs. It would be nice if they had a wider brush like OPI, but the rubberized handle is so easy to have control while you are working, it almost makes up for it.

You can pick up the current ORLY releases for about $8 at Sally Beauty as well as beauty.comFolica, and Ulta.

Readers, have you tried brown polishes? What color are you craving for Fall? Let me know in the comments!

  11. I have been digging the whole oxblood trend for the fall. I recently picked up Essie's Wicked and have loved it all week long. It's a really deep wine, oxblood shade and is totally vampy. Under some lights you can tell it's the color of wine and other times it almost looks black! I think with thinner layers it would be more in the wine realm of shades. ^__^ I'm also looking for a special/unique something with a golden sheen, much like the shade featured in this post, but maybe more red for me and less brown! ^__^
