Procrastinating Beauty Blogger TAG!

9:00 AM

Hey everyone! So I was recently browsing my blog feed (are you following mine on Blogvin' yet?) and came across the ever-sweet Emily from Beauty Broadcast who posted a blog tag called the "Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Tag". Hmm... Procrasting? Me? OF COURSE! ;)

I thought it would be fun to share my answers and definitely would love to see yours too! Lets kick things off with a photo of me applying makeup while sitting in a pile of makeup. Typical. Clean that pile up, lady!

1. Name a beauty regimen that you rarely do?

See this super old picture of me sporting my NYX Black Label lipstick? I will shamefully admit that I was not using lipliner. In fact, I rarely ever use lipliner unless it's for a really special occasion where I know my lipstick will have to last forever like prom or a wedding. People have asked me why I don't use it and all I can say is...

...

...lazy? Hahah! My one exception is when I wear red lipstick and even then I only use it 25% of the time.

2. Is washing your make-up brushes something that you do regularly?

Yes and no. I don't wash every brush frequently since I rotate my millions of brushes instead, but I don't like using dirty brushes for too long since my skin is so breakout-prone. I haaaate washing brushes since it takes so much time! I love Parian Spirit for quick cleaning though, which I mentioned in my Brush Cleaning post! I deep clean all my brushes about once a month.

3. How long will you last with chipped nail polish?

I'm actually pretty good about this one. Since I do Manicure Mondays here on the blog, I try to keep my nails well-maintained and change my polish at least 1x per week. It's not high-maintenance so much as a stress reliever to sit down and paint my nails. Bad chips get patched or the color is removed before recording videos especially since people will comment about it. ;)

4. How long will you put off buying/replacing a beauty product, even if you need it?

Hmm, need is a strong word. There seem to be very few things we need in the makeup world after all, so I would say instead that I nearly always have backups or 10 replacements of new products that I need to test out when I run out of something. I feel like I'm never caught up on everything I need to review!

5. What is your worst beauty habit?

Does having chapped lips count? Chapped lips and dry hands are two things that I should take care of more than I do. I am so bad about forgetting hand cream, especially after all those times washing my hands throughout the day.

6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off doing all the time?

Laundry! I need a better closet system because putting my clothes away after doing the laundry is always a huge chore unto itself. These were some of the clothes I bought in Korea, nicely laid out for this photo and probably never put away after that. lol!

7. When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready to the last minute?

I dislike having to rush doing my makeup at the last minute so if possible, I like to give myself a leisurely hour to prep. As you can see in my 3 Minute Makeup Challenge, it's possible for me to finish in less than that but who wants to forcibly age themselves daily with that kind of pressure? I can't handle the stress!

8. Can you commit to spending bans?

A dessert I had recently. I LOVE food and eating!

I feel like spending bans are like diets: They are a constant reminder of what you can't have and keeps you focused on those missing things. Instead, I like to go through periods of being happy with what I've got and using up what I have before I get new ones. I like food and I like new things, but I also like not being wasteful so it keeps me in check.

9. How organized are your make-up and nail polish collections?

The makeup in my actual stash is well-organized in an Ikea Alex drawer and the top level of it is exclusively for my nail polish collection which is also color-coordinated. Each drawer is dedicated to a sub-category like face products, eyeshadows, lipsticks, etc but the difficulty I have is that I frequently have new products coming in all the time that don't always make it into the drawer!

Since I don't want things to get too out of hand, I try to stick to keeping all my makeup in that one drawer and being selective in purging my collection every so often. I'm moving apartments soon so I can foresee another huge makeup purge in my near future. ;)

I hope you guys enjoyed this tag! I'd love to see your answers as well so feel free to link your own answers in the comments section below.

    1. I'll try to record some footage of the process! Honestly, last time it was embarrassing how much I had accumulated, but it is my job and it's always easier to get new things than get rid of the old. :)

  3. Hi Jenn - I'm obsessed with Cover Girl's Fantastic Lash Waterproof Mascara. I bought like 10 backups when I heard it could get discontinued! It totally did and I've used up the tubes of mascara backups already. What is a good mascara that's pretty close to the CGFL formula? I'm Korean blessed with straight lashes who hate to stay curled (ha!) so I need a dry formula ... any suggestions on drugstore brand mascaras that come close to this one? Thanks!

  5. Couldn't agree more about being too lazy to do laundry...everything ends up on a chair or a floor haha. On a brighter note, I'm very good about organising my wardrobe once I've actually been motivated enough to put my clothes away =)

  6. I was just wondering the other day what you do with all the make up you acquire to test and review, so this was a very interesting post! At some point in the future, if you feel so inclined, would you mind elaborating on how you store your make up / beauty supplies and how you decide what to purge and to whom to give it?

  10. Hi Jen, I am obsessed with watching your make up tutorials. I know that you love to try many products so what I wanna know is...How do you know when your make up or skincare expire?

    1. If you look at the packaging or on the container, the product should often have a little icon with a number inside indicating how long it's good for. It looks like a container being opened with "12M" as an example for 12 months after being opened.

I'll try to do a post or video soon with a more detailed list too!

  14. yes, I think I am a big procrastinator. I don't like to iron my clothes. After laundry, all of clothes need ironing are just lain on the chair. My worst beauty habit is not to apply moisturizer to my body after shower.
Jen, I hope you will have more make-up tutorials coming :) another day to day make up maybe :)

  25. A tip on cleaning brushes and combs: Simply soaking your brushes in water and baking soda will freshen them back like new. You need to place them in a solution of 1 litre of boiling water and 2 teaspoons of baking soda, and leave them there until the water cools.
Try it - it works really well!
