Haul: Forever 21 ASOS Hautelook 6pm

My goodness gracious is it really already the end of March? This year has flown by so fast already, I can barely even catch my breath! Work has been intense and in the midst of all the craziness I happened to do a bit of online shopping. *evil laugh*

Because of this influx, I thought it would be a fun break from tutorials and reviews to a haul video of some things I've picked up lately. I don't do hauls very often so forgive me if I'm supa' boring. ;)

So I'll start out with my OOTD or Outfit Of The Day. Love this combo of greens and purple. They always complement each other well it's a bit unexpected at the same time.

Forever 21 beaded headband (similar in rose gold here)
Ann Taylor Factory scarf (similar here and here)
Theory leather blazer (similar, non-leather here and Theory here)
Forever 21 crochet peplum vest (similar here, here, and here)
White thermal long-sleeve shirt (similar here and here)
Forever 21 French Terry Pants (here)

You can see the colors a bit better here. The leather Theory blazer is one of my lucky finds from a consignment shop which I found in a size 0 for only $30! I think my eyeballs popped out of my head when I went home and looked up the original price of other Theory leather pieces. I almost cried for joy. XD

Here you can more properly (Barely, since I'm wearing black pants. Oops.) see my new boots from Stuart Weitzman. Black suede, knee-high wedge boots, just exactly like I was searching everywhere for! I'll have to buy an insole since the insides are slippery with socks but I can't wait to wear them out. They aren't at all awkward on my skinny chicken calves. I will say though, that they are 3.5" tall, not 3" so good for shorties like me, not so good for mighty walking days.

Stuart Weitzman Wedgelin boots in size 4 (here

I saw this cream lace skirt on the Forever 21 website and fell in love. Lace? Cream? Elastic-waist-so-as-to-better-fit-Jen? Just my luck, it actually came in XS! Yes, please! I love the fact that you can dress it up or down as well. I'll very likely wear it simply, like this.

Forever 21 Crochet Lace Skirt (here)
AE V-neck Colored tee (here)
Pretty Small Shoes Eleganza heels (similar here and drool here)

SO digging the spring micro-floral trend with these shorts! What are dolphin shorts anyway?

Forever 21 Floral Dolphin Shorts (here)

I also picked up these micro-floral bobby pins that are so cute as well. It's great for accenting casual updos. ^_^

This ASOS pencil dress is one that has had tons of hype amongst the petite fashion blogosphere. (Check out others' reviews on the Alterations Needed forum!) This isn't the greatest picture but you can see that the UK petite 4 is slightly roomy on me. Although it's not terrible, I did take to it my tailors to make it cuter and shorter so I will have to do an updated post when I get it back. My tailor said it would be perfect for attending a summer wedding. ^_^

(more colors here, regular sizing here, wool here, linen here)

My second ASOS purchase is also in a blush pink color and it covered in ruffles!!!! Ahhhhh.... But actually, the size US 0/UK petite 4 fits quite perfectly around the arm holes and body.

ASOS Petite Soft Frill Belted Dress (here)

I actually think it gives the illusion of curves on my not-so-curvy body type quite nicely!

But honestly, for most days I'll definitely be layering this baby. I foresee this outfit with a blazer popped on top for a cute work look. :)

ASOS Petite Soft Frill Belted Dress (here)

I've been search everywhere, especially in the last 4 years but even before then, for the perfect dark-wash, bootcut jeans and came up time and time again empty handed. I was so excited when I bought these from Hautelook because obviously, they fit me perfectly. LOL!

Frankie B. Jeans Wide Leg Trouser in sz 23 (here)

Okay, so they need a bit of a hem. *cough* A LOT of a hem. Designer denim always seems to be 2 feet too long! Seriously, is there someone out there with my hip measurement and legs this long? Really? But actually, I am in love with the "Dark Night" wash and the rest fits quite better than nearly everything I've tried. Winning.

I tucked them under to see how they would look hemmed. This was pre-wash so they did shrink up a little but I made sure to bring some platform heels to the tailor's in case they shrink further. Not bad, right?

Another of my perfect dark denim jeans requirements is that they have no obnoxious back pocket detailing. Frankie Bs tend to often go over the top with their pocket details so I'm glad this is so plain. This also shows the slight bagginess which was eliminated with a wash and the waist being taken in as well.

Also, I flat-ironed my hair which I haven't done in at least a year. I like it straight with the ombre dye!

Last but not least, here's an image showing my lone fail out of my hauls. I had high hopes for this Muubaa leather jacket from Hautelook since it's a UK size 4, but it's pretty ginorm. This is me practicing my bat wing flap. Definitely will have to be a return which is sad because it's nice and weighty and the leather's soft.

If you are interested in Hautelook and haven't joined yet, you can sign up with my invite here or you can just sign up at the site. (If you sign up with my link I get a credit for referring you after your first purchase, but as I said, you can sign up at the site with no invite as well.) There are some crazy good deals like Urban Decay's sale on Thursday BUT I'd be wary since they are occasionally dishonest with their listed pricing. If you can, I'd research each brand's prices before you purchase.

Whew! This blog post took a few hours to compose because my haul was so huge. >_<
I pat you on the back if you actually got through all of it. Hehe. Hope it was helpful if you are interested in anything I posted! Let me know in the comments what your favorite item was since I'm curious. :)

Disclaimer: I bought everything myself wheeee! There are some affiliate links included in this post which will direct you to the stores that the items are available at for purchase.

Sucker Punch Makeup - Amber Inspired Tutorial & Giveaway!

Hi everyone! It's time for another movie-inspired makeup look (and a giveaway at the end of the blog entry)! :D

Ever since I first saw the trailer for the movie Sucker Punch I was dying to do a video on the makeup in it, no joke. I love the visuals of the movies Zack Snyder has directed before (Watchmen and 300) and I've been impatiently waiting for this movie to come out for months, so I'm totally stoked to share this one with you. You guys know how excited I get when something new features really interesting makeup and this movie is no exception. ;)

One of the coolest things about this movie is that it is very heavily influenced by Asians and Asian-Americans including 2 of the main actresses, Jamie Chung who is Korean American and Vanessa Hudgens who is Chinese-Filipino American, and also the Japanese American Screenwriter Steve Shibuya, Chinese American cinematographer Larry Fong, and Chinese American editor William Hoy. Did I also mention there are giant robotic samurai in this movie? Oh yeah. Asians represent! ^_^V

Products mentioned:
Lioele Dollish Veil Vita BB Cream in Gorgeous Purple
MAC Select Coverup Concealer
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Eyeko Graffiti Eyeliner
MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack
Stila Barbie Palette (shimmery charcoal color)
Urban Decay Naked Palette (Virgin - pale highlight color)
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
Fair Drops Original and Fairy Drops Scandal Queen mascaras
Pretty and Cute Lashes #45
NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in Taupe/Ash
Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Blush in Blushing Glow
Paul & Joe Lipstick S in 003
Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in 517

So I'll start off by showing you my outfit. The garrison cap is borrowed from my grandpa-in-law. He is a Korean War veteran and it's from his old Summer uniform, so it actually means a lot to me that he let me use it for the tutorial. We've had some talks about what Korea was like then and what it's like now in contrast. So much has changed, it's quite fascinating.

The military jacket is from PacSun and the harness is made from suspenders worn backwards because I'm quirky like that. ;) This shot was actually one I didn't mean to take when I was setting up my camera to take test shots. Yay for candids.

One more from my living room where you can see the shadow on my eyelids with natural light.

This one is my favorite shot out of the bunch. See how long and wispy these lashes look? So much fun!

This is in the midst of my trying to find ways to pose with the sucker without it looking...wrong. LOL.

Obligatory smile because I can never be too serious with this much makeup on.

And a look at the back showing my hair roll. This thing kept coming undone during recording. >_<

My sucker punch. Haha.

Hope you guys enjoyed the tutorial! As promised, I want to share a giveaway for you. Here's the info on the giveaway with TEN winners of a Sucker Punch prize pack:

FOTD: My St. Patrick's Day Look

Hey guys! I was originally planning on recording a green St. Patrick's Day tutorial but somehow my weekends always seem to be busy busy. The good news is that I did the second best thing, a "face of the day" from the actual morning of March 17th to show you how I really did my makeup. I feel like it's been a long time since I did a good 'ole FOTD without a video, am I right?

Here's a second little preview of my ombre hair which I am really loving so far. It's not too intense in real life that I feel uncomfortable with it, and it looks nice even when I don't do anything at all to it like in these photos.

Here's one with eyes closed so you can see the shadow. Although I actually do this a lot, it's actually a technique that I haven't used in a video yet so I might go ahead and show it in a video anyhow in the future. As you can see, the concentration of shadow is pretty horizontal as opposed to the rounded shape that I did in my smoky pink eyes tutorial.

Colors used:
Inglot shadow in AMC Shine 15 (orange-gold) for inner lid
Inglot shadow in Pearl 418 (dark green similar to MAC humid) for outer-v/contour
Teal shadow from Josie Maran Natural Wonders Palette in center of lid (looks bright green when layered)

When eyes are opened you see just a hint of color on the lids. It's a pretty effect when you are blinking.

I also used the NYX Mosaic Powder in Highlight for the browbones, inner eye corners, and tops of cheeks. Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Lucky is on my lower lash line. Lashes are Pretty & Cute Korean High Fiber Lashes in M146 which look nice and fluttery. I just have Blistex Silk & Shine lipbalm on my lips.

Here's a close-up of the eyes. You can click to see it larger.

Since I was totally kidding in my last post about talking about my hair here, I will do a hair post VERY SOON for real, and also have a review and swatches of both my Inglot palette (thank you sis!) and a few Josie Maran items including the one I used for this look.

OOTD: LOFT Cardigan and Wool Trousers

Sometimes I really hate to admit it, but I am SO influenced by my fellow blogger ladies. I think part of being a blogger is also being a blog reader and being a part of this community that feeds off of itself in terms of creating new lemmings and inspiring one other.

One of the coolest blessings has definitely been the petite fashion blogging community which has definitely grown my own personal sense of style since it's made me more aware of how my clothes fit. I've become obsessed with getting alterations done on my clothes and purchasing quality items from retailers that actually make things in my size. It's always been difficult for me to fit things off the rack so seeing how things fit on other petites is really cool, not to mention they are all pretty much adorable and exude their own stylish flair!

If you are a fellow petite out there, definitely check out http://www.petitefashionblogs.com/ and the Alterations Needed Forum which are really invaluable resources. I'm convinced you girls are some of the best at having fantastic fitting clothes since you pay so much closer attention to it. Everyone can learn from their posts about fit! ;)

I apologize for the long blabbing but I can't stress enough about my love of Kelly at alterationsneeded.com and Jean at extrapetite.com for creating the blogs that I was dying to find 2-3 years ago. You girls are my heros! <3

Anyway, on to my own outfit of the day which has been heavily influenced by these ladies. ^_~

Like in my last OOTD, you'll have to ignore the weird placement of these photos. I had to use the camera timer since my remote ran out of batteries and I guess the camera wasn't a fan of including my shoes in the shot. I swear I look taller when you can see my feet. XD

Pretty Small Shoes Eleganza Heels in Beige in 32

This last pic I just wanted to show off my recent sunnies acquisition. These babies are adorable square-framed Fendi's that I found at Marshall's on clearance for under $40! LOVE the little roses on them. I'll have to take better pics sometime. ^_^

Oh, and this video and these photos were taken a couple weeks ago and I've since cut my hair and colored it ombre-style to a caramel color at the ends. These can serve as the "before" pics. :)

That's for next time! Hope you all have a fabulous weekend~

Tag: This or That

Hey everyone! Hope nobody forgot to "Spring Forward" in the US. It's time to lose an hour of sleep and get a bit of more daylight for the workday which I am really looking forward to! It helps on the long drive home to not be in the gloomy, sleepy dark. ;)

Anyway, I wanted to share another tag video with you. I was actually tagged for the "This or That" tag back in November of last year or so, and never got around to recording it until more recently. It's a fun one! Here's the video.

Please forgive my silliness here! I'm naturally quite a silly person if you couldn't tell before. I was looking through old family albums with my parents the other night and I can't tell you how many images there are of me making silly faces. My dad says I've always been a character. Maybe you were able to guess some of my answers as well? :)

Just for fun, I'm going to ask my own "this or that" question for you to answer in the comments:

Please let me know in the comments which you prefer and why. I always want to improve my blog and videos so any suggestions for improvement would be very helpful! ^_^

Prayers for Japan and Privacy

Wow, what a crazy morning this has been.

If you follow me on Twitter you will already know that I was quite worried about some friends of mine who are living in Japan. Here are a couple photos a friend of mine snapped with his cell and put on facebook from his apartment building. He was at the edge of the blackout and stayed at his work until late into past midnight to be with others who were stranded there. All the subways were down so he had to walk home where there was no electricity and a lot of damage. Even this with being 300-400 miles from the main destruction!

I hope that everyone out there is praying for the safety of those in much suffering in Japan right now, and also the several other countries who are affected by the tidal waves going on as we speak.

Speaking of facebook, I found another profile that was faking me. This time, with everything else going on, I have no fighting words to say. I'm just hurt and I don't understand why someone would put my personal information out there like that, which I do try to protect. I know that you read my blog and twitter, so please, I'm begging you, please respect my privacy. I am a real person and it's hurtful to my family.

Sorry about the disruption of my usual blog posts but I just wanted to take a minute to write about a couple things that are more important than cosmetics. I will get back to the usual soon~

Love you guys and thanks for your support.

How To: Depotting NYX Single Eyeshadow (no heat)

Hey guys! I made this tutorial nearly a year ago and in the midst of switching computers around, I forgot to upload it! I've still gotten many requests for how I depot my NYX eyeshadows so here's a really quick tutorial.

Products used:
NYX Single eyeshadow in Beanie (this shade is discontinued btw)
Rubbing Alcohol + Plastic Cup
Dropper
Paper Towel
Butter Knife
Unii Palette + adhesive magnets

I will say from personal experience that I tried many of the tutorials online and since I have SO many NYX shadows, time was a really important factor for me. I found that cutting away the plastic was pretty dangerous and time-consuming, and the heat method wasn't really my first choice since I didn't want the burn risk. My method does make the pans slightly imperfect, but how quick it is to depot makes it totally worth it for me. :)

This is just a portion all of the NYX shadows I own. XD I know, I'm a total NYX collector. Haha!

Here's the final result depotted into my UNII palettes which you can see my review of here.

Currently, my white palette is filled with a mixture of "everyday" neutral eyeshadows and depotted products that I can take with me while I travel. I'll have to take a nice pic of what I put in it the next time I'm going somewhere. I just love how easy it is to move around products you want when you depot things! So space-efficient. ^_^

I also bought a pressing kit and some freestyle palettes from TKB Trading but have yet to set a time to press my loose pigments. I honestly don't even buy loose shadows anymore since it's so messy to work with, so hopefully I can press some of my MAC pigments and mineral eyeshadows so I can free up some space in my drawers. If anyone has tips on good mixing mediums for pressing or tips in general to make it easier, please let me know! I'm a pressing novice!

I guess that's about it. Hopefully this tutorial was helpful for some of you out there who don't have a lot of time and have a lot of NYX shadows to depot. It's really simple! If you tried out my technique please let me know how it went for you in the comments~

Pretty & Cute Coupon Code Update

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share a little update on the Pretty & Cute coupon codes offered to my readers.

I know a lot of people were getting confused on how to use the older codes. Many were saying they weren't working and I really wanted to remedy that. I'm also sure that a lot of people already had the Lioele Princess mirror or foundation brush as well, so I wanted to have a more versatile code that everyone would be able to easily use over and over again, with no minimum. Thankfully, Janie was a sweetheart and was willing to provide a brand new code!

Enter code lovelioele for 10% off your purchase of Lioele products at prettyandcute.com!
Please note that this does mean that the older codes are now expired as of March 1, 2011. I really hope that this will clear up any confusion with the various codes and I apologize that ending them was so abruptly, but I do hope that this will help some of you girls to be able to try some of my favorite Lioele products (hello, amazing smelling Blooming Gloss) without needing a minimum purchase amount. I know not everyone was the expendable cash to spend on pricier-than-drugstore Asian cosmetics. ^_^

And just for the record, TRUST that my personal rule of thumb with reviews is if I dislike a product, I just don't review it. I absolutely do not review everything I receive from every company so I hope that it can put a bit of faith in my reviews. I'd rather tell you about stuff that I like than waste my breath reviewing tons of products I hate. Spread positivity! Word.

If it helps your decision-making feel free to browse my previous reviews of Lioele items here.

Please let me know in the comments if there is anything in particular from Pretty & Cute that you would specifically like to see reviewed and I'll see what I can do to serve you. <3
