BeautyBloggers.org Charity Auction! R&R Call Me ;)

Hi everyone! Today I want to let you guys know about a very special charity auction that swatch queen KarlaSugar asked me to be a part of. Many well-known bloggers and companies have donated beauty products to help raise donations for women in need around the world. Of course, I was super excited to contribute! As a makeup addict and blogger, I've been blessed with a lot of cosmetics that are much more than I can use myself so it makes me feel really humbled that something as silly as donating makeup can hopefully really make a difference in other womens' lives.

My personal contribution is a brand new Rock & Republic Contrived Pressed Blush in Call Me (click here for my swatches and review). You guys know this is the most coveted R&R blush, plus it's a discontinued shade so it's very hard to come by! It's my absolute favorite HG blush of all time and I bought an extra as a backup but honestly, the money will do someone else much more good than the blush can as a backup in my drawer. ;)

BeautyBloggers.org is the collaboration of almost 50 different beauty bloggers and brands. In the spirit of the holidays, we wanted to make a meaningful contribution to charity — knowing that the most effective donation to any charity is cash.

So we’re putting our makeup on the auction block (all items are new unless otherwise described). Winning bids will be donated directly to Doctors Without Borders. Bidders anywhere in the world are welcome, and shipping is “free.” That is, the full amount of your winning bid will go to charity — the bloggers have agreed to donate the cost of shipping, in addition to the items themselves.

We’re raising money for Doctors Without Borders because women are always disproportionately affected in any disaster. This organization is committed to bringing quality medical care to people in crisis, regardless of race, religion, or political affiliation. They treat rape victims in Papua New Guinea; they make sure women don’t die in childbirth in Pakistan; they helped flood victims in Mexico and earthquake victims in Haiti. They work in 65 countries around the world, and your donation will make an immediate impact. Click here to learn more about MSF.

We’ll be collecting payment through a secure page set up with Doctors Without Borders. They accept credit cards. International auction winners may have to use Paypal.

You can bid now through Monday, December 20 — this year’s auction ends at 5 pm CST.

I hope you guys can find some awesome products (not kidding, there are some incredddddiiible things up for auction) for yourselves or loved ones and promote a really selfless cause as well. ^_^

frmheadtotoe clip on Fox11 news

Puahaha! Just wanted to share this little news clip from LA's FOX 11 News that a second of my Smokey Eyes Tutorial for Monolids video was put in recently. Thanks to burritomaster88 for sharing this with me!

(a youtube upload of it if you can't see the first one)

In case you missed the tiny, tiny clip of me, here is a screencap. LOL!

It's funny that for all the crazy makeup tutorials that I have, they used one of my most basic ones for the clip. ^_^ I guess the news has free reign to use Youtube clips though? I don't mind, I just wish I could be aware of these things so I can at least post about it!

Anyway, hope you all had a wonderful food-filled weekend. It felt so incredible to have a couple days of vacation to not worry about work or blogging/recording/editing. I did get to snag some awesome Black Friday deals from the comfort of my computer this morning (a sexy new suit for my hubby, woo woo!) and I did pick up some replacement components for my PC. I think I may have forgotten to write that here but my PC died a couple weeks ago so sadly, my BB Cream overview videos are stuck on there until I can get a new motherboard. Soon, my friends!

Tomorrow it's back to the grind but I am looking forward to it. I have a really fun holiday look planned and also a cute holiday tag to go along with it so I hope a lot of others can respond and participate. Until then, it's a SECRET! ^_~

Just for fun, can you guys let me know what you are getting for your parents this Christmas? I'm still having trouble coming up with something good! Let me know in the comments!

xoxo

What's In My Purse?

Hello everyone! Today I have another tag video to share with you. I've really been loving doing these tags since it gives me a chance to not only share a bit more about myself and my personality, but also to hear such nice feedback from others who have the same quirks as me. I really think everyone is secretly (or not so secretly, like me) weird is some ways and we can be proud of our uniqueness!

That's why I wanted to do this particular tag. One really insightful look into another woman is seeing the contents of her purse and nearly every post-adolescent female out there carries somes sort of purse or bag to carry her essentials in. It only seems natural that we might be nosy enough to take a peek at what other ladies deem important enough to lug around at all times, right? Don't worry, if you are super curious I won't hold it against you. I pretty much love watching/reading about others' bag tags too. ^_^

I did record this video a couple months ago so if you are wondering why my VS card is expired or why the sun is so shiny or why I have a bare shoulder when it's practically snowing outside, it's because I am really on top of getting videos out on time. LOL!

Before I forget, I do want to answer some frequently asked questions: my off-shoulder top is from Victoria's Secret (I think it was from the workout line but it is SUPAH soft), I bought the Milani lipgloss from CVS, my earrings are sterling silver dragonflies from Steve & Barry's (those stores closed down), and I got the tied-man earphone cord wrap from here (but I sadly lost those beloved headphones T_T).

I hope you enjoyed the video and I also hope that those in the States celebrate a really wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow! My side of the family is having our huge family get-together at my parents' house this year so I should be able to hoard food off of them for days. Buahahah!

Hubby and I are then going to hop over to his parents' who are also hosting Thanksgiving dinner, and then basically eat and fall into a food coma and pass out, then wake up and eat dessert and pass out again. It all sounds delicious and lovely and I can't wait!

I have so much to be thankful for this year, I can honestly say that I've never been in want of so little in my life. (I've been seriously having a hard time thinking of what to say when people ask me what I want for my birthday/Christmas next month. O_o) God has blessed me with so much love from my husband, my family, and of course all of my bloggy followers and I wish I could give you all big hugs through the computer screen! Until that technology is developed (you never know) you can give yourself a little hug around the shoulders, from me. Or pretend I'm actually there. I won't judge.

2010 Fall/Winter Fashion OOTD

Hey everyone! First off, I just wanted to give a big shoutout to my South Korean readers since I saw a huge spike of new hits after the CL video went semi-viral there. (Did I tell you guys about that? I guess some random guy yanked it off my youtube page and posted it on Cyworld/Nate, which is like Korea's Facebook, and it made it to the main page which is total craziness!)

You know how critical Korean netizens can be, but fortunately I also had plenty of lovely people who were kind as well and I feel so blessed by the new wave of supporters. If anyone from Korea is reading this now, 안녕하세요! ㅋㅋㅋ~ ^_^

Edit: Wow, looks like a Korean news article was written about my vid. O_O Thank you Anonymous commenter for letting me know.

Because of this, I was inspired to add a Translator widget to my sidebar so feel free to use it (although I know the Korean translator for Google is terrible!) I always think it's the coolest thing to see readers from all across the world and it makes me feel small like a tiny ant in a really great, humbling way.

Okay, enough blabbing and onto my OOTD video! Today was particularly chilly so I really bundled up. If you have been a long-time reader of this blog you'll know that my outfit is in typical "Winter Jen Fashion" style. I realize a lot of people who watch my videos soley subscribe to my Youtube so these are baby steps to introduce them to my fashion sense. ^_~ (Sorry about the shaking camera in the video!)

This coat is one that I first saw on petite blogger Petite XXS (who is nearly the same size as me) in her post here. She had raved about how tiny the XS fit so I knew I had to snatch it up! Here is the stock image.

See how cute it is? Oh man, I've always wanted an ivory coat and coats are one of the greatest challenges to find as a slim petite! The only downsides are that it doesn't have wool in it (100% animal free) so it probably won't be able to endure really harsh Winter weather and the sleeves are too long for me, but otherwise it is love! Great fit in the shoulders and the waist tie is fantastic for when I am lazy running out the door quickly. I bought it from Piperlime here.

Here is my actual outfit for the day. Definitely warm and cozy! It took me a while to accept that the colder weather was coming at the end of Summer, but now I am into Winter clothes full force! Fall? What Fall? I'm ready for knit beanies and warm mugs of hot cocoa! ^_____^

Slouchy Knit Beanie - Forever 21 (similar here and w/ rosette here)
Sweater Tunic - Forever 21 (similar here)
Long-sleeve shirt - Abercrombie (similar here)
Electric blue leggings - Target (similar here and in navy here)
Legwarmers - Abercrombie (kids) (similar here and here)
Emu Charcoal Bronte High shearling boots (kids here and womens here)

I was planning on posting up a "What's in your bag" tag video and my big video review-comparison of BB Creams soon, but sadly my PC that had the videos on it died. :( I'm going to have to get the files off of the harddrive. When that happens, you'll have some better videos to look forward to! Hopefully this OOTD will suffice to hold you over for at least a few more days. ^_~

Hope everyone is staying warm (or cool, depending on where you live) and safe!

Remember, be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Have a happy Harry Potter weekend. :D :D :D

TAG: My Perfect Imperfections

A few days ago I saw a tag going around on Youtube called "My Perfect Imperfections". It was started by AndreasChoice, and the premise is to list 3 things about yourself that you consider imperfections and 3 things that you like about yourself.

I don't know why but I always think it's really fascinating to hear about what others think are imperfections about themselves, just because it really humanizes them. Nobody's perfect and it gives people a chance to say, "Hey, I'm not perfect and here's why, and I'm still kinda neat and here's why."

I'm the type of person who gets really uncomfortable when commenters try to push me on some kind of pedestal because I am SO not that girl that people looked at and cooed over my whole life. I was never popular. Not even close! I was always that plain, dorky girl who was silly and never got too much attention other than for art and being studious. YAY FOR ASIAN STEREOTYPE TIME! XD I didn't even wear makeup until late in college so when people give me those types of comments I really just look at them (literally, stare at the typed words) like they are crazy.

That's not to say that I don't take compliments graciously, I really try to which is not always easy. It's more that I take the words I hear with a grain of salt because I know that for all the good or bad comments that may come my way, I know I'm still that dorky girl inside and that's the person I'm happy being.

So here's my Perfect Imperfections video. I hope you guys watch this one and, if you would like, make a video or blog response (which you are free to link to in my comments or youtube). :)

Hair bow: Vintage men's bowtie from an estate sale (similar in blue leopard here)
Earrings: http://www.shopheqi.com/ Origami Butterfly earrings (similar taste to this origami necklace)
Flannel Shirt: Abercrombie kids on sale here (similar non-kids here and here)
Cardigan: Banana Republic (similar from LOFT petites here)

Disclaimer: I'm not promoting anything in this video or post, but it does include some affiliate links if you want to get your shop on. ;D

2NE1 "Can't Nobody" CL Monolid Makeup Tutorial

Hello everybody! I have yet another inspired look to share with you guys. This time, I decided to fulfill a highly requested look that I pretty much fell in love with after getting the screencaps. It's CL's look in 2NE1's video for "Can't Nobody"!

And here is the original music video:

Some screencaps I took of CL from the video:

Products mentioned:

Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream #23
Urban Decay Primer Potion
L'Oreal HIP Cream Shadow Paint in 909
Urban Decay Naked Palette (Creep for lids, Buck for eyebrows)
Lioele All In One Gel Eyeliner
NYX Single Eyeshadow in Black
Mineral Magic Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Self Control
Aromaleigh Indelible Eyeliner Sealant
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
Sugar half-lashes in Angel
Lash Grip Adhesive in dark tone
Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus Mascara
MAC Spaced Out Blush
Lioele Blooming Pop Cherry Tint
Lioele Blooming Gloss in Vanilla Pink
Circle lenses are T-Top Ice Flower Grey lenses

And of course, my mean mug:

Eyes closed. I realized after editing that I didn't even use a highlight color. I didn't need one!

With my head tilted back a bit so you can see the full effect. Shadow always gets tucked under for monolidders, but I think it really works for this look.

I did have some people ask about my hair and I didn't do anything different, I just blowdried it instead of air drying it which tends to make it more straight and poofy. I think I may have used a bit of Garnier Fructis beachy paste stuff to style it, which I briefly talked about two years ago here.

I know this is a bit of a weird angle, but I thought it showed the eyes and lips off nicely. Gotta be more creative to show off the lid on monolid looks since the "in-between" blinks are so visually interesting. ^_~

And here I wanted to show off this really wickedly awesome necklace I received from Catherine of See Jewelry Online. It's pretty edgy without overwhelming the rocker-pretty look, imo. As soon as my friend saw this she got so excited because she had just seen something similar on Rachel Zoe a couple days before.

Here's the pic of it from her site. Thai silver and clear quartz! I totally *drool* over statement pieces like this!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the look and please do let me know if any of you decide to try it out! I was really pleased with the final look and heck, monolid girls could use a bit more variety and options with their makeup. Sometimes it's easy to fall into a routine of thick eyeliner or smokey eyes so hopefully this can switch things up a bit. :)

As always, let me know your requests for future inspired looks in the comments.

PS- My giveaway for Jewelry Payless is still running until November 15th so please enter if you'd like to win $50 worth of sterling silver jewelry! Second prize is $30 as well. ^_^

Disclaimer: Lioele products provided by http://www.prettyandcute.com. For orders over $35 use code "jenmirror" for a free Lioele princess mirror or code "frmheadtotoe" for a free foundation brush. :]
You can find the lenses from this look at http://www.pinkyparadise.com. Code "frmheadtotoe" gets you a free beauty gift with each pair of circle lenses ordered.

Halloween Pics & Recap!

I just realized I forgot to post my Halloween photos up! Here's a few of them before it gets too late. ^_^

First up, me and hubby. I know everyone keeps asking for pics of him so here you are. He looks just like Cobra Commander. ^_~ Omg, I look so much taller here because of that hat and the platform heels I'm wearing. Awesome.

Here is my mother-in-law as a "mad housewife" from the 50's and she accessorized with a fake cigarette (which she recycled from last year's Amy Winehouse costume) and an empty bottle of wine which also says "mad mousewife". I wish you could see the colorful scarf headband she wore with the wig. :D Too funny.

This is my sister-in-law going as "The Birds". She had little blobs of fake blood here and there as well. ^_^

Her husband, Colonel Sanders. He also had on cowboy boots and I was giggling at his costume all night. Soooo good! (FYI he went as Mark Twain last year.)

My friends Assassin's Creed and his wife, a lamb. Ironic combo.

And of course, Scott Pilgrim. Gotta love Smashing Pumpkins. Hahaha!

There's husband again, doing like he do with the thumbs and the ups.

My silliness reflected in his helmet. This face ---> ;D

And there were some ridiculously adorable decorations!

And lots of yummy, cute things!

We had a really fun time dressing up to be silly with family and friends this year. I was lauded for my *amazing* pictionary skills (lol) for girls vs. guys and girls totally won. I also won the prize for best costume. ^_^

And just to recap, here are all the Halloween looks I did for this year (click names for blog entries):

Lion Tutorial

Princess Jasmine Tutorial

Toy Soldier Tutorial

Gyaru Tutorial

If you happened to try out one of my Halloween tutorials, let me know! I already am a proud mama to the AMAZING Toy Soldiers, Gyaru girls, and Lions in my Facebook gallery so if you haven't seen it, check it out!

So tell me what you did for Halloween this year! Did you dress up? Hand candy out? Go to a crazy, packed party?
